阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

It took me several years to realize that my black skin is beautiful and I have accepted the fact that indeed black is beautiful now. This skin I have been in for so many years determined my self worth.
I had so many factors “against” me in my mind when I was a little girl. I was a tall, thin, dark skinned girl with a gap tooth smile. Growing up, the only role model that I had was my mother, who has beautiful deep brown complexion (肤色). It’s amazing how I could find beauty in my mother’s complexion but not my own. One of the most outstanding memories of my childhood is the words “Oh, she is so cute for a dark skinned little girl.” People spoke as if I wasn’t in the room, as if I couldn’t hear.
From a young age, I felt ashamed that my black color wasn’t good enough, so I buried myself in books to stay away from the mirror. I knew that my education would and could take me further than my looks. I stopped watching TV, absorbed in my studies and I was happy with my decision. Now I have been admitted to my ideal Coppin State University, which is for black students and has a long history.
It wasn’t until I was at age 16 that I officially decided to fix my deep rooted issue about my dark complexion. I had been brainwashed to subscribe to the European standard of beauty for so many years. I no longer accept this standard, because I set my own. My black is beautiful including my full lips, the wideness of my nose, and the intensity (明亮) of my eyes. I believe that there are plenty of beautiful dark skinned women in the world.

A. She turned her attention to her studies.

58. The author writes the text mainly to tell readers _____.
A. the change of her attitudes toward her complexion

Not all consumers share the same attitudes toward animal cloning, which can be seen in the latest research from Sean Fox, Kansas State University professor. Much of Fox’s research focuses on consumers’ attitudes toward food safety. He worked with Shonda Anderson, a recent master’s graduate, to explore consumers’ attitudes toward cloned animals.
“We’re interested in finding out how different groups of consumers react to products from cloned animals,” Fox said. “We’re also interested in how those reactions differed between countries.”
Fox and Anderson surveyed Kansas State undergraduates in agriculture, English and sociology classes. They also surveyed agriculture students at University College Dublin in Ireland and Ecole Superieure d’Agriculture in Purpan, France. The survey asked participants (参与者) about their possibility of buying and eating meat and other products from cloned animals.
Results showed that Americans were more accepting of cloned products than Europeans. Other findings include:
● Students in Ireland and France were less likely to consume cloned products than Kansas-State students.
● At Kansas State, sociology and English students were less likely to consume cloned products than agriculture students.
● Participants were more likely to consume cloned products after learning that cloned animal products have no safety risk.
More of the European students were concerned about cloning from a moral perspective, while the American students were more concerned about food safety. The strength of opposition to cloning was much stronger from those who morally opposed cloning than from those who opposed it for food safety concerns. The survey also found that women were less likely to buy cloned products, and people familiar with science were more accepting of cloned products.
“Results suggest that a large number of people do have concerns about cloning from a moral perspective,” Fox said. “It’ll be important if these products come to market because we would expect to see a large number of people avoiding them.”
63. The participants in Sean Fox’s survey were mainly _____.
A. colleagues of Sean Fox
B. students in three different places
C. consumers interested in cloned products
D. people of different professions in three countries
64. Which of the following is TRUE about the possibility of buying cloned products?
A. Female consumers﹥Male consumers.
B. Irish students﹥Kansas-State students.
C. English majors﹥Agriculture majors.
D. Agriculture majors﹥Sociology majors.
65. According to the survey, which of the following may affect consumers’ attitudes toward cloned products?
A. The type of cloned products.
B. The safety of cloned products.
C. The price of cloned products.
D. The taste of cloned products.
66. It can be inferred that Sean Fox’s survey results will help _____.
A. learn more about cloned products
B. make cloned products much safer
C. predict the market for cloned products
D. develop new types of cloned products

The Hope diamond is an unusual blue-gray precious stone that is believed to have been mined in Golconda, India. The French jeweler Jean-Baptiste Tavernier bought a 112-carat (克拉) stone, which he brought home to France. Historians believe that King Louis XIV purchased the diamond in 1668. The diamond was eventually recut, and a large part of it, called the French Blue, disappeared in a robbery in 1792 during the French Revolution.
No one knows for certain the path of the diamond after the robbery. In 1812, however, it was reported that a London diamond seller had a large blue diamond. Experts believed that it was the French Blue and that it had been recut. Later, King George IV of England owned the diamond, which was sold after he died.
By 1839 the stone belonged to Henry Philip Hope, a London banker. While Hope had the stone, it was named the Hope diamond. Relatives inherited (继承) the diamond after Hope’s death. It was passed along through several generations when Lord Francis Hope decided to sell the diamond to pay off his debts in 1901.
The next owner took it to Paris. It was sold and then resold to Pierre Cartier, a famous jeweler. In 1912, he sold it to Evalyn Walsh McLean, a wealthy woman in Washington, DC, who later had it set in a necklace.
In 1949, after Mrs. McLean’s death, the Hope diamond was sold to a well-known jeweler named Harry Winston. Winston exhibited the famous diamond at many events, but he never sold it. Instead, he decided to donate it to the Smithsonian Institution in 1958. The Smithsonian Institution is a large group of different museums and scientific institutions in Washington, DC.
Ever since then, the Hope diamond has been part of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History. Because of its size, 45.52 carats, and its unusual blue coloring, it is breathtaking to see in person. It has been seen b

Dear Jack,
You asked me a very interesting question. If I could have a clone of myself for one day, I would have it do the following for me.
In the morning, it will accompany my grandfather for a walk outside. My grandfather retired a few years ago and he’s very concerned about my study, so it will tell him how I’m getting along with my study while they are taking a walk.
In the afternoon, it’ll be busy at home, cleaning and tidying the rooms. Occupied with my study, I have little time to help with the housework. Though very busy with their work, my parents still spare time to keep the house tidy. As their only son, I hope to share some housework.
In the evening, it will have a talk with my parents and tell them how thankful I am for being their son.
That’s my answer to the question. What about you?
Yours,
