A person has to be sixteen to drive, seventeen to see certain movies, and eighteen to vote. People cafdsZn get terrific discounts on all sorts of stuff- provided they’re over sixty-five. Everywhere we look there are age limits that define what people can and can’t do. But creativity has no boundaries, no limitations. Anyone can invent. And they do. Inventors are popping up at the youngest of ages.?
Sitting in the car waiting for her mom to return from shopping, Becky decided she might as well try to finish her math homework. But it was growing dark and getting hard to see the paper.?
“ I didn’t have a flashlight, and I didn’t want to open the car door because then the whole car would light up.” Recalled Becky. “so I thought it would be neat to have my paper light up somehow, and that’s when the idea came to me.”?
It isn’t every day that a ten-year-old intents a product eagerly sought by several businesses, but that’s exactly what Becky Schroeder did when she created a tool that enabled people to write in the dark. Her invention? The Glo-sheet.?
That night Becky went home trying to imagine different ways of making her paper glow in the dark. She remembered all sorts of glow-in-the-dark toys-like balls and Frisbees-and wondered how they were made. She was determined to find a solution. So the very next day. Beck’s dad took her on an outing to the hardware store. They returned with a pail of phosphorescent paint. She took the paint and stacks of paper into the darkest room in the house-the bathroom. There, she experimented. ?
“I’d turn on the light, turn it off, turn it on,” said Becky. “My parents remember me running out the room saying “ It works, it works! I’m writhing in the dark!”?
She used an acrylic board and coated it with a specific amount of phosphorescent paint. She took a complicated idea and made it work rather simply. When the coated clipboard is exposed to light, it glows. The glowing board then illuminates or lights up the paper that has been placed on top. Two years after her initial inspiration, in 1974, Becky became the youngest female ever to receive a U.S. patent.?
She didn’t actively market her Glo-sheet. She didn’t need to. The New York Times wrote an article about and incredible invention- patented by a twelve-year-old, and the inquiries and orders streamed in.?
46.What caused Becky to invent Glo-sheet??

Cinderella is a children's classic romantic story that is timeless. The story has been adapted for various movies. I read the story decades ago when I was a kid. We also saw the excellent video that complemented the beautiful story in the book.
D.The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Book DescriptionOf all the contenders for the title of The Great American Novel, none has a better claim than The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. More than a century after its publication it remains a major work that can be enjoyed at many levels: as an incomparable adventure story and as a classic of American humor.
E.The Scarlet Letter
It is a great book which will have you guessing, or should I say wondering all the time. It is somewhat hard to read and completely understand. Published in 1850, there are words and sentence usage we aren’t familiar with (having CliffsNotes helped a lot), but the plot and points Hawthorne made were wonderful
F.The New Best Recipe
This is probably the best cookbook we own (and we own a lot of them). If you have ever read Cook's Illustrated magazine, you will know what to expect. 阅读下面的短文, 然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
Color “colors” our lives. We value color so much that we have tried to make our lives more colorful by coloring our clothes, our homes and even our faces. Today, we have come to realize that color can not only reflect one’s personality but also our emotions, our actions and how we respond to various people, things and ideas. Much has been studied and written about color and its impact on our daily lives. What color do you like? Yellow, orange or red? If you do you must be an optimist, a leader, an active person who enjoys life, people and excitement. Do you prefer grey or blue? Then, you are probably quiet, shy, and you would rather follow than lead. You end to be a pessimist. At least, this is what psychologists tell us --- the meaning of color preference and the effects colors have on human beings. They tell us we don’t choose our favorite colors as we grow up. We are born with our preference. If you happen to love brown, you did so as soon as you opened your eyes. Colors do influence our mood, without a doubt. For example, black is depressing while light and bright colors make people not only happier but more active. It is established that factory workers work better, harder, and have fewer accidents when their machine are painted orange rather than black or grey.

第二节:读写任务(满分25分)
Possible Version:
Colors and Our Lives
According to the passage, colors play an important role in our life. They reflect our personality and emotions and different colors have different influences on human beings.
Among all the colors, I like green and white best because green is the color of nature, health, and life while white symbolizes purity, cleanliness, and kindness.
In our daily life, we can see that colors are used in every field. During the Olympic Games, every athlete wears his team clothes whose colors are similar to his country. That is what colors bring to us --- the symbol of our nation. When seeing the red color on our Chinese Olympic team clothes, we will think of our national flag, our motherland and our identity. The 1.3 billion people in our country are then connected together by the red color.
Due to their effects, colors can also influence our study. To arouse our spirits, we can use some bright and light colors on some things that we will see, such as memos on the desks, note books and book covers. Moreover, we can use labels of different colors to sort out reference materials of different subjects. And we can keep a small green plant on our desk to help relax our eyes and minds.
