M: Hi, Maggie, what a surprise to see you here in New York! I thought you were in California. W: Yeah, I plan to spend my holiday in California, but there is something wrong with my visa. 6-8W: What are you doing, darling? M: I am looking at my pictures, I painted them in class. W: Let me see, oh, what’s this? M: It’s a house. W: And what are these? M: They are rooms, this room is the kitchen, and this is my bedroom. W: What about these green lines? M: Mum, they are not lines, they are trees. These trees are in the blue sky. W: Really? Then is this a plane? M: It’s not a plane, it’s you, mum. You are flying in the sky.W: Oh, really? That’s a strange picture. 9-11W: Hi, Tim, it’s surprising to see you in the hospital. You seem to be burnt. M: Yeah, only a little. Nothing serious. W: It’s serious enough for you to be in the hospital. What happened to you? M: I had to get into a house that was on fire. There was still a little girl inside. W: Did you get her out? M: Yes, but I had some trouble breathing and got burnt a little when getting out of the house. So they sent me to the hospital. W: I should say that your job is really dangerous. M: Yeah, you may say that, but it’s all part of my job. W: Haven’t you ever thought of giving up this job? M: Give up, no, I love this job, only a little injury. That’s no big deal. W: Ok, but be careful next time. M: I see, thank you so much. 12-15Welcome to Yellow Stone National Park. Before we start our nature walk today, I'd like to give you a brief introduction to our national park service. The national park service began in the late 1800s. A small group of people found the land now called Yellow Stone, and after hours of discussion around the campfire, they decided that it should not enjoyed by everyone. Two years later, the government declared it the first national park in the world. After it became a national park, many other areas of beautiful scenery were set aside. And in 1916, these parks became to be managed by the national park service. I am now employed by the national park service, and I am on duty at all time to answer questions and help any visitors with any difficulty. Nature walks, guided tours and campfire talks are offered by specially trained members. The park service also protects the animals and plants within the parks.
