8-10W: How was your trip? What did you think of San Francisco?M: It really is a beautiful city, mostly because it’s so different, I think. Everywhere you look there are wide streets, beautiful old Victorian homes and buildings, the bay, and of course the Golden Gate Bridge.W: What are the restaurants like?M: There’s a real variety. We had seafood at a French restaurant. It was really fresh and delicious, but it was kind of expensive. And we went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner one night. 14-17W: Look at this picture. This is a party my sister had two years ago for her wedding.M: Who’s that? I mean the woman on the very left.W: Oh, that’s Aunt Elme. She’s my mother’s sister. The lady she’s talking to is my aunt, Louise, but on my father’s side. She is a music teacher in London University.M: And who’s that man?W: The one with his back to the camera?M: Yes, in the middle of the two other men.W: Oh, that’s my uncle, John. He is humorous. He’s a clothes designer and works in Paris. The man he is talking to is his friend, Jack. They used to work together. Now he lives in London. Now, let’s see…who else is there? The man in the middle of the group on the right is my cousin, Roger. He’s a sales manager.
18-20I’m going to be 18 next month. These days I often say to myself: you are no longer a child; you are a grown man. But actually I still look like a child. Many of my classmates think I’m only 16. Many people say I look like my mother. She is short, only about five feet. But I’m already much taller than her; I’m five feet three inches. I look like my mum also in many other ways. We have the same blue eyes, the same blond hair, the same fair skin. I don’t like my skin; it makes me look rather girlish. Fortunately I have a Roman nose like my father’s which makes me look manly. I’m proud of my nose. Now I’m studying in Germany. I’d like to make many friends there.
