Most animals only have animals of a different kind for food. But sometimes two kinds of animals come together in a partnership (伙伴关系) which is good for them. You may have noticed some birds on the backs of sheep. This is not because they want a ride, but because they find easy food in the parasites (寄生虫) on sheep. The sheep let the birds do so because they can stop the parasites from troubling them. So though they can do with it by themselves, they can do better together with each other. Sometimes an animal has a plant partner. The relationship develops until the two partners cannot do without each other. This is so in corals of the sea. Inside their bodies they have very small plants, which act as “cleaners”, taking the useless things from the coral and giving oxygen in return. That is what the animal needs to live. If the plants are killed, or are even kept from receiving light so that they cannot live as usual, the corals will die. ( ) 61.Some birds like to sit on a sheep because ________. Every person uses his own special words to show his ideas and feelings. Some of these expressions are commonly used for many years. Others are popular for just a short time. One such American expression is “Where’s the beef ?”. It is used when something is not as good as it is said to be. In the early 1980s, “Where’s the beef ?” was one of the most popular expressions in the United States. It seemed as if everyone was using it at that time. Beef, of course, is the meat from a cow, and no food is more popular in America than a hamburger made from beef. In the 1960s, a businessman named Ray Kroch began building small restaurants that sold hamburgers at a low price. Kroch called his restaurant “McDonald’s”. Ray Kroch became one of the richest businessmen in America. Other business people saw his success. Some of them opened their own hamburger restaurants. One company called “Wendy’s” said its hamburgers were bigger than those sold by McDonald’s or anyone else. The Wendy’s company began to use the expression “Where’s the beef ?” to make people know that Wendy’s hamburgers were the biggest. The Wendy’s television advertisement showed three old women eating hamburgers. The bread that covered the meat was very big, but inside there was only a bit of meat. One of the women said she would not eat a hamburger with such a little piece of beef.“Where’s the beef?”she shouted in a funny way. The advertisement for Wendy’s hamburger restaurants was a success. As we said, it seemed everyone began using the expression “Where’s the beef?”. ( ) 66.The expression “Where’s the beef ?” is used when something is not as good as it is said to be. The American inventor Thomas Edison is believed to be the first person to use “hello” on the telephone soon after the invention of it.
At first, people began their telephone calls with “Are you there?”They were not sure the small machine could really carry voices.
Edison was a man of few words. He wasted no time. The first time he picked up the telephone , he did not ask if anyone was there. He was sure someone was there and only said “hello”.
From then on , “hello” is often heard when you pick up the telephone.

In North America, most students go to school on the school bus. Some students also walk or ride bikes to school. In other parts of the world, things are different. In Japan, most students take trains to school, although others also walk or ride their bikes. In China, it depends on where you are. In big cities, students usually ride bikes to school or take buses. And in places where there are rivers and lakes, like Hongshanhu and Kaishandao, students usually go to school by boat. That must be a lot more fun than taking a bus.
