A few years ago, Molly was badly attacked by a dog.The dog bit all four of Molly’s legs and left large cuts in her face. Molly's owner, Kate Harris, took her to an animal hospital.Doctors there were able to save Molly’s life, but soon one of her legs became very infected(感染). The leg was a hollow cast with a pole at the bottom for balance. Doctors gave Molly a special horseshoe at the bottom of the leg. This horseshoe she had had a stamp of a smile face in it! After the operation, Molly walked around on all four legs, as if nothing had ever happened to her! Now, with every step she takes, she stamps a smile in the dirt. But she leaves her mark in other ways, too. Kaye Harris took Molly to the false leg center. A.A Book on Molly B.A False Leg C.A successful Operation D.Leaving her MarkB“Love your neighbor as yourself” is a saying familiar to most of us.It means that you must have the ability to love and accept yourself in order to form and keep satisfying relationship with others. Self-esteem means accepting yourself for who you really are, and believing that you are indeed a worthwhile person who is deserving of love and respect from others.Self-esteem is our sense of how good we feel about ourselves. It is based on our judgment of ourselves, not on other people's assessment, but simply on our own.Our self-esteem is not dependent on our talent. Some very ordinary people feel very good about themselves, while other extraordinarily high achievers hold low opinions of themselves.Self-esteem is the primary key to long-term stress management. Why? The first three sources of stress are: predictable life events, unexpected changes and build-up of daily stresses. These are much easier to handle when we believe in ourselves. A positive, healthy self-esteem gives us the “hardiness”(强健)to deal with the difficulties of life, and to see them as challenges to be met, rather than threats to be feared. The fourth category of stress is entirely the result of a low self-esteem.It is the category of stress that is most common and tiring in the long run. This kind of stress cannot be overcome, or even changed, until the self-esteem problems that cause it are corrected.Learning to love yourself for who you are is the key to overcoming stress.Self-esteem comes from the self, and cannot be promoted by others.A person who feels that his self-esteem comes from the approval of those around him or her is bound to self-destruct(自毁). One cannot keep the level of “performance” required to please everyone else, especially if that performance disagrees with who you are and is simply a facade that makes you popular with the world. When the applause is gone, there is nothing left. Only those who can feel the strength of knowing who they are and those who can feel good about themselves will survive the stresses of life.Self-esteem is the basis of contentment and positive living.60.What is self-esteem? A.A kind of positive lifestyle. B.The impression we have on other people. C.Our sense of how good we feel about ourselves.D.Our understanding of how we are seen by others.61.What is the key to overcoming stress according to the passage? A.Removing yourself from stressful situation. B.Learning to love yourself for who you are. C.Facing the stress and dealing with it. D.Getting help from friends.62.What does the underlined word "facade" (in Para 5) mean? A.A strange feeling. B.A big worry. C.A wrong action. D.A false appearance.63.The passage is written to ______. A.show the importance of feeling good about yourself B.help people form good relationship with others C.tell people how to overcome stressD.provide the different methods to get a clear view of yourselfCFor centuries, the body's blood has been linked closely with the emotions.People who show no human emotions or feelings, are said to be cold-blooded killer. For example, the police are searching for a cold-blooded killer. He seems to kill for no reason, and no emotion, as if taking someone's life as nothing. Cold can affect other parts of the body. The expression "get cold feet" has nothing to do with cold or your feet. The expression means being afraid to do something you have decided to do.For example, you agree to be president of an organization. But then you learn that all the other officers have resigned, and all the work of the organizations will be your responsibility. You are likely to get cold feet about being president when you understand the situation. The expression "give someone the cold shoulder" probably comes from the physical act of turning your back toward someone, instead of speaking to him face to face. You may give a cold shoulder to a friend who has not kept a promise he made to you.Or, to someone who has lied about you to others. A cold fish is not a fish.It is a person. But it is a person who is unfriendly, unemotional and shows no love or warmth.A cold fish does not offer much of himself to anyone.Someone who is a cold fish could be cold-hearted.Now a cold-hearted person is someone who has no sympathy.Several popular songs in recent years were about cold-hearted men or cold-hearted women who, without feelings, broke the hearts of their lovers. "Out in the cold" means not getting something that everybody else got.A person might say that everybody but him got a pay raise , that he was left out in the cold. And it is not a pleasant place to be.64.When you refuse to speak to a man and treat him in a distant way, you may express by "_____". A.I give him the cold shoulder B.I think he is a cold-blooded man C.I think he is a cold fish D.I'm likely to get cold feet65.If Sue shows absolutely no reaction to those awful pictures of starving children in Africa, you will say ______. A.she is a cold-blooded killer B.she gets cold feet C.she is a cold fish D.she is out in the cold66.We can use the expression "_____" to describe a man who abandons or hurts his lover without mercy. D Say you are a 17th century construction worker who’s worked long and hard to build a splendid tower for the dead wife of your emperor. Now say that the emperor orders your fingertips cut off so you can never build another one. Yes, that is the Taj Mahal, one of the most famous buildings in the world. And the tale behind the construction is just as impressive as the building itself. First, there’s the emperor of northern India, Shah Jehan, also called the King of the World. In 1612, Shah Jehan married Mumtaz Mahal. Madly in love, they had 14 children over the next 20 years. But then sadness came. As Mumtaz was about to give birth to child number 14, she said she had heard her unborn baby cry out. It was a sign of death. And as Mumtaz lay dying, she asked Jehan to build a lasting memorial to celebrate their love. When the heartbroken Jehan appeared eight days after his wife’s death, his people were shocked to see that his coal-black hair had turned snow-white. Putting away his sadness, Jehan ordered his wife’s dying wish carried out. More than 20,000 workers labored nearly 22 years to complete the construction. In 1653, Jehan placed Mumtaz’s remains in the center under the building. And then, son number five, Aurangzeb, murdered his brothers and took over the power from his aging father. Jehan lived the rest of his days-eight years, to be exact - imprisoned not far from the Taj Mahal. Jehan was only allowed to climb onto the top of his prison to see the timeless treasure from a distance. But never again would he be allowed to visit it-until he was buried next to his wife.Today 25,000 people visit the Taj Mahal each day. Though the reason for building the tower was a strange, sad story, those who see its breath-taking beauty are reminded of the happiness that inspired its construction.68.The first two paragraphs were written to show that _____. A. the Taj Mahal is an unusual historic building B. ancient Indian emperors were cruel C. construction workers led a hard life in ancient India D. India has some of the most famous buildings in the world69.The Taj Mahal was first built as _____. A. a prison B. a gift to Mumtaz C. a memorial building D. a tourist attraction70.We learn from the text that Mumtaz probably died in _____. A. 1626 B. 1632 C. 1634 D. 165371.The underlined word “happiness” in the last sentence refers to _____.A. the married happiness of the emperor and his wifeB. the great pleasure Jehan once found in exercising his powerC. the happiness Jehan felt on completing the Taj MahalD. the pleasure tourists experience when visiting the Taji Maha

第四部分:写作(共两节,满分35分)第一节.任务型读写:In simple words, hibernation is a state of deep sleep. Hibernation differs from normal sleep in various ways. Hibernating animals take a long time to wake up from their sleep. Turning or kicking their bodies does not seem to wake them up. Even after waking up from hibernation, these animals take some time to restart their normal activities. During hibernation, the heart rate slows down and some of the non-vital organs become entirely inactive. This is a state in which the body uses very little energy.Winter is the time when food is less and weather rough. Animals have to spend a lot of energy finding food. Even if they succeed in finding anything, it is often not enough to make up for the loss of energy. Besides, the cold weather may often become a cause of death. As a result of all these, animals have to reduce their food demand by reducing energy requirements. This is achieved by hibernating throughout the winter. Before the onset of winter, when there is plenty of food, animals eat overmuch and store much of the food in the form of fat. As winter arrives, they return to their home where they spend the rest of winter hibernating. As animals hibernate, their body temperature starts dropping due to lack of activity and metabolism(新陈代谢). At one point, it is only a few degrees higher than the surrounding temperature. Whatever energy the body needs to perform certain tasks is got from the fat storage. Due to lack of activity, the fat burning process is slow and steady. The energy from fat is enough to keep the animal alive for the rest of the winter.Hibernation differs for every species. For example, some animals like black bears may sleep for the whole winter without waking up while animals like squirrels may wake up every 4 days to eat some food, pass waste matter from the body, and then go back to sleep. Hibernation in domestic(家养的) animals may differ from that in the wild ones. As there is no food shortage for domestic animals, domestic animals hibernate as a result of their natural instinct(本能) but with more active periods in between.

作文:Good morning, everyone! The topic of my speech is “Teamwork”.In my opinion, teamwork plays a very important part in our life. We are living in a world where everyone needs to cooperate with each other. We won’t be so sure of success if we just work alone. How shall we be a good teammate in a team? First, we should remember there is no “I” in teamwork. Learning to be a good listener is also of great importance. Besides, it’s important to realize others’ advantages and know how to work with them. There’re so many examples around us where teamwork matters. Everyone lives in a team, and each of us needs to contribute to the team. All of us should have team spirit. That’s all. Thanks for listening.
