B As a youngster, there was nothing I liked better than Sunday afternoons at my grandfather’s farm in western Pennsylvania. Surrounded by miles of winding stone walls, the house and field provided endless hours of fun for a city kid like me. Since my first visit to the farm, I had wanted more than anything to be allowed to climb the stone walls surrounding the houses. My parents would never approve because the walls were so old that some stones were loose and falling. Still, my idea to climb across those walls grew so strong that finally I had all my courage to enter the living room, where the adults had gathered after Sunday dinner. “I want to climb the stone walls,” I said. “Heavens, no! You’ll hurt yourself!” the response was just as I’d expected. But before I left the room, I was stopped by my grandfather’s loud voice. “Now hold on just a minute,” I heard him say. “Let the boy climb the stone walls. He has to learn to do things for himself. ” “Go,” he said to me, “and come and see me when you get back.” For the next two and a half hours I climbed those old walls—and had the time of my life. Later I met with my grandfather to tell him about my adventures. I’ll never forget what he said. “Fred,” he said, smiling, “You made this day a special day just by being yourself. Always remember, there’s only one person in this whole world like you, and I like you exactly as you are.” Many years have passed since then, and today I host the television program Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, seen by millions of children throughout America. There have been changes over the years, but one thing remains the same: my message to children at the end of almost every visit. “There’s only one person in this whole world like you.” the kids can count on hearing me say, “and people can like you exactly as you are.” 19.The writer enjoyed his visits to the farm because ________. Yet Maori promises to have a rosy future given that New Zealanders are showing great enthusiasm for speaking this local language 。 A "Maori renaissance(复兴)”blossomed in the 1970s as language activists championed their cause and Maori fought for greater political power. But until 2013, just 3.7 percent of New Zealanders spoke the language fluently, and many predicted it would soon die out. Now New Zealand's government is erasing prejudice and struggling to increase the percent of population who can speak basic Maori by 2040 to 20.Prime Minister Jacinda Ardem said last month that her newborn daughter would learn both Maori and English. “It's an official language, so why should we dismiss its universal availability and its much more common use?” said Ms.Ardem, adding that she also planned to study the language. Grassroots are also spreading it by word of mouth Answering the phone with the greeting"kiaora"(hello)or ending an email withunga mihi'(thanks)has become a fashion. School exists so that people will be educated. Nobody can cheat their way into being successful. A lot of students today don’t even view cheating as wrong, and most of those who cheat have been doing it for so long that it doesn’t even faze them. This really bothers the teachers because the students who usually cheat probably will never stop to think how bad it truly is. When you cheat, you learn nothing, which is why cheating is so serious. Our society seems to believe that the more material wealth you have, the more successful you are. As a result, it seems many people have become successful by cheating their way to the top. If students think cheating is normal, who knows what they will find acceptable as adults? Most people think that cheating on one little test doesn’t mean that you will cheat again. Unfortunately, this is not true because if you can get away with it once, you are likely to do it again. If cheating continues in college, students will get nothing out of what they are being tested on. If a college student cheats on all the work they do for their major, when and if they get a job, that person will be a total mess at work. I am not saying that anyone who has ever cheated is a liar, because that would mean just about every student at your average school would be one, including me. What I am saying is that cheating students should receive more severe punishments. I truly believe that if there were severe consequences for cheating, students would actually focus on learning. Then we all would be better educated. 27.More and more students tend to cheat in exams because they want to ________. A.gain high marks B.succeed in society C.find a good job D.finish their work quickly 28.What does the underlined word “faze” mean in the second paragraph? A.Encourage. B.Embarrass. C.Excite. D.Frighten. 29.What can we learn from the text? A.Anyone who has ever cheated in school is a liar. B.Students who never cheat in college will find a good job. C.Most people have successfully cheated their way to the top. D.Getting away with punishment will lead to cheating again. 30.What is the text mainly about? A.Students’ Cheating: Acceptable or Not? B.Consequences of Cheating C.Students’ Cheating in Schools D.Punishments for Students’ Cheating四、完形填空 When twelve-year-old John Wilson walked into his chemistry class on a rainy day in late October 1931, he had no way of knowing that his life was about to change completely. Actually, I was unwilling to listen to his talking endlessly as he always did. My father was a lawyer, but I never wanted to go to law school or follow his path through life. As was expected, he cleared his throat and started to say, “Er… What… What do you really want to do in the gorgeous future?” I was silent for a moment playing with the cell phone. I kept thinking, “Should I tell him my true thoughts? What if he gets angry? What if I let him down?” later I replied, “Well, I want to be a writer.” I guessed this may be not the answer he would expect. But surprisingly, “Interesting idea!” he answered. I was shocked, speaking in a low voice with hesitation. “Are you serious, dad?” “Well, you need confidence and good preparations, and you still have plenty of time. You need to find out what you really enjoy now. Look, it's late. Let's take the boat out tomorrow morning, just you and me. Maybe we can catch some crabs (螃蟹) for dinner, and we can talk more.” Early next morning we packed up the equipment and set off along the coast. We didn't talk much, but enjoyed the sound of the seabirds and the sight of the coastline. There were no big waves and blinding sunlight at that time. “Let's see if we get lucky,” he said, picked up a web basket with a rope tied and threw it into the sea. We waited a while, then my father stood up and said, “Give me a hand with this,” and we pulled up the crab cage onto the deck. To our joy, the cage was filled with dozens of soft shell crabs. Squatting (蹲) down, we watched them for a moment. At first they fought against each other to climb out hard, trying to escape. Many were pulled back into the cage. Later, some gave up, but there are still some crabs trying to escape again and again. Paragraph 1: At that moment, my father pointed to the cage, “Look at that crab, there!” _______________________ _______________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ __________________ Paragraph 2: From that day on, I was determined to make my dream come true._____________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ ____ 答案 16.C 17.A 18.D 【解析】 【分析】 这是一篇说明文。 Getting train information and cheap train tickets has never been easier. G trains (high-speed trains, standing for gāotiě) are China’s bullet trains—the fastest trains with a maximum speed of 400 km/h. 通读全文并根据文章第二段的(…standing for gāotiě) 和最后一段 的…Chinese characters and Pinyin…Directions (North, South, East, and West) appear in Pinyin (Bei, Nan, Dong, and Xi)的细节信息可知,购买车票时要注意出发/达到城市的汉字和拼音, 所以这篇文章的目标读者是外国旅行者。 Surrounded by miles of winding stone walls, the house and field provided endless hours of fun for a city kid like me. But before I left the room, I was stopped by my grandfather’s loud voice. … “Let the boy climb the stone walls. Later I met with my grandfather to tell him about my adventures. 通读全文以及最后一段的“There’s only one person in this whole world like you…and people can like you exactly as you are.” 由第一段“Many languages are disappearing and languages such as English, Spanish and Chinese are increasingly taking over. Yet Maori promises to have a rosy future given that New Zealanders are showing great enthusiasm for speaking this local language ”可知,许多 语言正在消失,英语、西班牙语和汉语等语言越来越占主导地位。 由第二段“Prime Minister Jacinda Ardem said last month that her newborn daughter would learn both Maori and English. “It's an official language, so why should we dismiss its universal availability and its much more common use?” said Ms.Ardem, adding that she also planned to study the language”可知,上个月,总理 Jacinda Ardem 表示,她刚出生的女儿将 同时学习毛利语和英语。 由第三段“ where he introduces readers to the popularity of Maori and expresses his great anxiety for the lack of teachers who have the competence to teach the Maori language”可知,在这本书中,他向读者介绍毛利语的受欢迎的程度,并对缺少有能力教授毛利语言的教 师表示极大的忧虑。所以通过关键词“great anxiety ,lack of teachers , the competence to teach the Maori language”可以判断出,Ajit Kumar Samah 主张培训合格的教毛利语言的教师。 以及文中的“A "Maori renaissance(复兴)”。 由第二段“Prime Minister Jacinda Ardem said last month that her newborn daughter would learn both Maori and English. “It's an official language, so why should we dismiss its universal availability and its much more common use?” said Ms.Ardem, adding that she also planned to study the language”可知,上个月,总理 Jacinda Ardem 表示,她刚出生的女儿将同时学习毛利语 和英语。 There was a time when cheating was rare in schools, but today everyone is focused on making the top ten percent of their class,… 故选 A 项。 28. A lot of students today don’t even view cheating as wrong, and most of those who cheat have been doing it for so long that it doesn’t even faze them. Most people think that cheating on one little test doesn’t mean that you will cheat again. Yours, Li Hua 【答案】Paragraph 1: After reading the diary, the son was filled with tears and began to reflect on the days when he used to sit together with his father. His father would patiently answer the same question all 23 times without feeling irritation while his father asked him the same question just four times! The son thought to himself: If I attain old age, how will my son look at me? Will he think of me as a burden? Will he shout at me because of my poor sight, poor hearing or poor understanding? Paragraph 2:Feeling ashamed, the son got down on his knees before his father. He made an apology to his father, begging his father to forgive him for his bad behavior. He said this aloud, “I promise to see you happy forever, Dad. It is you who have cared for me since I was a little child, showering your selfless affection on me. You worked hard to make money so that I could afford to go to university. I will serve you in the best day.”
