A 【2019·新课标 III】For Western designers, China and its rich culture have long been an inspiration for Western creative. “It’s no secret that China has always been a source(来源) of inspiration for designers,” says Amanda Hill, chief creative officer at A+E Networks, a global media company and home to some of the biggest fashion(时尚) shows. Earlier this year, the China Through A Looking Glass exhibition in New York exhibited 140 pieces of China- inspired fashionable clothing alongside Chinese works of art, with the aim of exploring the influence of Chinese aesthetics(美学) on Western fashion and how China has fueled the fashionable imagination for centuries. The exhibition had record attendance, showing that there is huge interest in Chinese influences. “China is impossible to overlook,” says Hill. “Chinese models are the faces of beauty and fashion campaigns that sell dreams to women all over the world, which means Chinese women are not just consumers of fashion—they are central to its movement.” Of course, not only are today’s top Western designers being influenced by China—some of the best designers of contemporary fashion are themselves Chinese. “Vera Wang, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu are taking on Galliano, Albaz, Marc Jacobs—and beating them hands down in design and sales,” adds Hill. For Hill, it is impossible not to talk about China as the leading player when discussing fashion. “The most famous designers are Chinese, so are the models, and so are the consumers,” she says. “China is no longer just another market; in many senses it has become the market. If you talk about fashion today, you are talking about China—its influences, its direction, its breathtaking clothes, and how young designers and models are finally acknowledging that in many ways.” 1.What can we learn about the exhibition in New York? Why does it matter that people are more impressed by the most recent changes? It would not matter if these misjudgments were just a matter of people’s opinions. However, they have real impacts, as they result in misguided use of scarce resources. The fascination with the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) revolution, represented by the internet, has made some rich countries wrongly conclude that making things is so “yesterday” that they should try to live on ideas. This belief in “post-industrial society” has led those countries to neglect their manufacturing sector(制造业), with negative consequences for their economies. Even more worryingly, the fascination with the internet by people in rich countries has moved the international community to worry about the “digital divide” between the rich countries and the poor countries. This has led companies and individuals to donate money to developing countries to buy computer equipment and internet facilities. The question, however, is whether this is what the developing countries need the most. Perhaps giving money for those less fashionable things such as digging wells, extending electricity networks and making more affordable washing machines would have improved people’s lives more than giving every child a laptop computer or setting up internet centres in rural villages, I am not saying that those things are necessarily more important, but many donators have rushed into fancy programmes without carefully assessing the relative long-term costs and benefits of alternative uses of their money. In yet another example, a fascination with the new has led people to believe that the recent changes in the technologies of communications and transportation are so revolutionary that now we live in a “borderless world”. As a result, in the last twenty years or so, many people have come to believe that whatever change is happening today is the result of great technological progress, going against which will be like trying to turn the clock back. Believing in such a world, many governments have put an end to some of the very necessary regulations on cross-border flows of capital, labour and goods, with poor results. Understanding technological trends is very important for correctly designing economic policies, both at the national and the international levels, and for making the right career choices at the individual level. However, our fascination with the latest, and our under valuation of what has already become common, can, and has, led us in all sorts of wrong directions. 5.Misjudgments on the influences of new technology can lead to ________. A.a lack of confidence in technology B.a slow progress in technology C.a conflict of public opinions D.a waste of limited resources 6.The example in Paragraph 4 suggests that donators should ________. A.take people’s essential needs into account B.make their programmes attractive to people C.ensure that each child gets financial support D.provide more affordable internet facilities 7.What has led many governments to remove necessary regulations? A.Neglecting the impacts of technological advances. B.Believing that the world has become borderless.C.Ignoring the power of economic development. D.Over-emphasizing the role of international communication. 8.What can we learn from the passage? A.People should be encouraged to make more donations. B.Traditional technology still has a place nowadays. C.Making right career choices is crucial to personal success. D.Economic policies should follow technological trends. So many of us hold on to little resentments(怨恨) that may have come from an argument, a misunderstanding, or some other painful event. Stubbornly, we wait for someone else to reach out to us—believing this is the only way we can forgive or rekindle a friendship or family relationship. An acquaintance of mine, whose health isn’t very good, recently told me that she hadn’t spoken to her son in almost three years. She said that she and her son had had a disagreement about his wife and that she wouldn’t speak to him again unless he called first. When I suggested that she be the one to reach out, she resisted initially and said, “I can’t do that. He’s the one who should apologize.” She was literally willing to die before reaching out to her only son. After a little gentle encouragement, however, she did decide to be the first one to reach out. To her amazement, her son was grateful for her willingness to call and offered an apology of his own. As is usually the case when someone takes the chance and reaches out, everyone wins. Whenever we hold on to our anger, we turn “small stuff” into really “big stuff” in our minds. We start to believe that our positions are more important than our happiness. They are not. If you want to be a more peaceful person, you must understand that being right is almost never more important than allowing yourself to be happy. The way to be happy is to let go, and reach out. Let other people be right. This doesn’t mean that you’re wrong. Everything will be fine. You’ll experience the peace of letting go, as well as the joy of letting others be right. You’ll also notice that, as you reach out and let others be “right”, they will become less defensive and more loving toward you. They might even reach back. But if for some reason they don’t, that’s okay too. You’ll have the inner 模 拟 精 做satisfaction of knowing that you have done your part to create a more loving world, and certainly you’ll be more peaceful yourself. 1.The underlined word “rekindle” in Paragraph 1 probably means “________”. A.develop B.recover C.accept D.replace 2.According to the passage, the author’s friend never spoke to her son for three years because ________. A.she had got an argument with her husband B.she had disagreed about her son’s marriage C.she had got an argument about her daughter-in-law D.she had disliked her son’s wife for many years 3.Which of the following is NOT the reason for people to be unwilling to apologize first? A.People believe that they are right. B.People always wait for others to offer an apology first. C.People consider the position more important than happiness. D.People want to get an inner satisfaction. 4.The purpose of the passage is to ________. A.instruct the readers how to apologize B.teach the readers how to gain inner peace C.tell the readers to reach out first when there are painful events D.inform the readers the importance of being forgiving B 【2019 年浙江省名校新高考研究联盟高三第一次联考】Roughly the size of a soda can, sitting on a bookshelf, a relatively harmless device(设备) may be turning friends away from your home. The elephant in your living room is your Internet-connected camera, a device people are increasingly using for peace of mind in their homes. But few stop to think about the effect these devices may have on house guests. Should you tell your friends, for instance, that they’re being recorded while you all watch the big game together? "It’s certainly new territory, especially as home security cameras become easier to fix," says Lizzie Post, president of the Emily Post Institute, America’s distinguished manners advisors. "I think it will be very interesting to see what manners appear in terms of whether you tell people you have a camera or not, and whether guests have a right to ask that it be turned off, if it’s not a security issue." Post wants to make clear that she’s not talking about legal rights, but rather personal preference. When it comes to security cameras, Post says it’s a host’s responsibility to make sure guests feel comfortable within their home. If the host casually acknowledges that there is a camera in the room by telling a story about it, that may be enough to provide an opening for a guest to say if they are uncomfortable. However, if a contractor(合约工) is working in your home, you don’t need to tell them that there are cameras watching. Then again, the camera can also work in contractors’ favor. "If anything does go wrong while they’re in the house, they don’t want to be blamed for it," she says. "In fact, the camera could be the thing that proves that they didn’t steal the $20, or knock the vase off the table. 5.The visitors are concerned that the security camera may . A.threaten their health B.spoil their peace of mind C.disturb their privacy D.affect their preference 6.What is a host’s responsibility concerning the security camera? A.Indicating its position. B.Making their guests feel at ease. C.Turning it oil in time. D.Having a casual talk with guests. 7.How can the home security camera benefit contractors working in your home? A.It can prevent the accidents happening. B.It can prove their innocence. C.It can record their working progress. D.It can make their work more enjoyable. 8.What’s the author’s attitude towards the security camera? A.Negative. B.Pessimistic. C.Favorable. D.Objective. C【2019 年河南省六校高三一模】Positive thinking is a significant element of happiness. In order to become a positive thinker, determination and consistency are important. The first thing to know about positive thinking is that everyone can do it. With certain cognitive( 认知的) and behavioral changes, we can all become positive thinkers. Another important factor is that being a positive thinker does not mean you become numb to anything that is not working properly in your life or is negative—it just means that you approach life and face challenges with a healthier outlook. Instead of selectively attending to negative events, focus on the positive ones. Then pay attention to the delayed consequences of your behavior rather than the immediate ones. For example, if a job is not going like you want, focus on the fact that you have a job and how you can take your time to make the situation better. Challenge any internal attributions and see if you compare your behavior to standards that are excessively rigid and perfectionistic. If so, change these and be reasonable with your comparisons. For example, if you constantly compare your weaknesses with other people's strengths, then switch this and compare yourself with those who are doing poorer than you as well. Overall, people who focus more on their strengths than their weaknesses but at the same time are aware of their weaknesses have a healthier self-evaluation result. When faced with too much fear about a situation, imagine the worst case and visualize a solution for it, then let go of fear. This way, you will be prepared for anything and your fear will not block you from being open and creative to different solutions. For example, if you are constantly worried about losing your job up to a point where it is creating a lot of anxiety and fear and is effecting your performance and your happiness negatively, then think of losing your job, visualize how you will handle it, find solutions in your mind and then let go of the thought and the fear attached to it. So positive thinkers are better problem solvers and have better interactions. In addition to that, people who are positive thinkers are happier and more satisfied with their life. 9.Why is positive thinking a significant element of happiness? A.It means that one is blind to the troubles and difficulties that exist. B.It means that one constantly compares everything with other people's. C.It means that one is strong in mind and has nothing to be afraid of. D.It means that one approaches life and faces challenges more healthily. 10.What does the text suggest about the job you don't like? A.Quitting it and finding a better one.B.Keeping and trying to make it better. C.Being negative and numb to it. D.Challenging yourself with a new outlook. 11.What does the author intend to tell us in paragraph 4? A.Be prepared for the worst: and let go of fear. B.Being constantly worried will lose your job. C.Fear will prevent you being open and creative. D.There is nothing to fear if well prepared. 12.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.How to focus on the positive events B.How to be a positive thinker C.What to do when faced with fear D.What to know of self-evaluation D 【2019 届河北省衡水中学高三第二次调研考试】Regardless of how far we’d like to believe gender(性别) equality in the workplace has come, there’s still a yawning gap between male and female leaders in the professional world. A 2018 statistic shows that women nowadays hold just 5.8 percent of CEOs positions at S&P 500 companies, according to Catalyst. While it’s not a huge shock that women are somewhat underrepresented in leadership positions, what is surprising though, is the fact that females may actually be better suited to lead in almost every area, at least according to new findings from the BI Norwegian Business School. In their research, Professor Oyvind L. Martinsen and Professor Lars Glas surveyed(调查) 2,900 managers with a special focus on personality types. The results were clear: women scored higher than men in four of the five major leadership-centric categories. While some people believe that men inherently make better leaders—probably because they picture a leader with a commanding voice, which is more typical of men than women—this piece of research suggests that women are better at methodical management and goal-setting, openness, sociability and supportiveness, as well as ability to communicate clearly. There was one area in which men scored higher than women, though, and that was on emotional stability and ability to face job-related pressure and stress. The results suggest that women are more sensitive to the effects of high- pressure or highly emotional situations. Obviously, it’s important to consider individual(个人的) differences. Anyone, regardless of gender, may be an inspiring leader and a competent boss. But next time you’re hiring for a management position, you just might want to give the resumes(简历) from female candidates a harder look. 13.What makes us shocked much at leadership positions? A.Women are worse than men. B.Men take almost all high positions. C.There is a huge gap between genders. D.Women might behave better in nearly every field. 14.Which of the following can best replace the underlined word “inherently” in Paragraph 4? A.properly B.potentially C.naturally D.normally 15.Which of the following may be the best title of this text? A.How We Can Figure Out The Boss B.Why Women Are Better Than Men C.Why Women Make The Best Bosses D.How We Can Tell Gender Difference 16.Who might have special interest in this article? A.Job hunters. B.Employers.C.Employees. D.Male bosses.A 【答案】1-4 BADD 【解析】这是一篇议论文。文章论述了中国文化及中国美学对国际时尚界的影响。 1.细节理解题。根据第三段中“The exhibition had record attendance, showing that there is huge interest in Chinese influences.”可知,此次展览吸引的参观者人数创下了记录,显示出人们对中国(文化)影响的浓厚兴 趣。故选 B。 2.细节理解题。根据第四段中 Hill 所说的话“Chinese models are the faces of beauty and fashion campaigns that sell dreams to women all over the world, which means Chinese women are not just consumers of fashion—they are central to its movement.”(中国模特是向世界各地的女性推销梦想的美丽兼时尚运动的面孔,这意味着中国女性 不仅仅是时尚的消费者——她们是这场运动的核心。)可知,Hill 说中国女性正在引领新时尚,故选 A。 3.词义猜测题。根据下文“and beating them hands down in design and sales”说在设计和销售上击败他们, 由此推断出上文“Vera Wang, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu are taking on Galliano, Albaz, Mare Jacobs”的意思是 Vera Wang、Alexander Wang 和 Jason Wu 正在与 Galliano、Albaz 和 Marc Jacobs 竞争。 根据第二段“However, they have real impacts, as they result in misguided use of scarce 答 案 与 解 析 精 选 大 题resources.”可知,对信息技术的错误判断会导致对有限资源的错误使用,也就是资源的浪费,故选 D。 6.推理判断题。根据第四段“Perhaps giving money for those less fashionable things such as digging wells, extending electricity networks and making more affordable washing machines would have improved people’s lives more than giving every child a laptop computer or setting up internet centres in rural villages, I am not saying that those things are necessarily more important, but many donators have rushed into fancy programmes without carefully assessing the relative long-term costs and benefits of alternative uses of their money.” 根据第三段“The fascination with the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) revolution, represented by the internet, has made some rich countries wrongly conclude that making things is so ‘yesterday’ that they should try to live on ideas.
