The Eskimo Dog, known for its clever, active and naughty nature, loves to stay with his owner and is
always ready for the adventurous activity. Its comical and curious nature is sure to make you laugh
several times a day. Further, he dislikes argument among family members. Therefore, don't argue
in front of him.
The Eskimo Dogs get along with almost everyone they meet, but they aren't always patient with
tight squeezes or hugs from the kids and can be frightened at being approached too quickly.
Therefore, close supervision is needed when Eskimo Dogs interact with kids, and you should also
teach kids how to pet the Eskimo Dog gently.
The Eskimo Dog's alert nature makes him an ideal watchdog, but you have to teach him from an
early age that too much barking isn't permitted. An Eskimo Dog will let you know what he wants
through his barks and glances. For example: a look at the jar of cookies, followed by a look at you
and a look back at the jar sends a clear message to you.
You should start training your Eskimo Dog puppy from the day you bring him home. An
eight-week-old Eskimo Dog understands everything you teach him. Don't wait until your puppy is 6
months to begin training or you will have a more headstrong dog to deal with. If possible, get your
Eskimo Dog into puppy kindergarten class by the time he is ten to twelve weeks old, and where he
will learn how to socialize.
The Eskimo Dogs in the 1920s became a favorite of circus performers. After the First World War,
the name of this breed (品种)was changed to American Eskimo to remove any Germanic sound
from it. Most American Eskimos were kept as pets and farm dogs, but it wasn't until 1994 that the
AKC (American Kennel Club) recognized this dog breed. Despite the acceptance o£ this breed into
the AKC world of show dogs» the American Eskimos remain a dog of the people, far more popular
as a cute and loving pet than as a competitor.
What can we know about the Eskimo Dog from paragraph 1?
It likes harmony in the family. B. It likes to stay at home.
C. It likes nature. D. It likes to play with kids.
How does an Eskimo Dog show its need?

C. By running around the room. D. By glancing and jumping around.
When is better to send an Eskimo Dog to the kindergarten?
Right at its birth. B. Around eleven weeks old.
C. At 2. 5 years old. D. At 3 years old.
What can we know about the Eskimo Dog from the text?

Most of us prefer sunshine and calm weather. We like sunbathing on a warm beach or hiking in the
mountains on a clear and cloudless day. However, some people actually prefer intense storms.
These people are ocean racers, storm spotters, and storm chasers, and they love the challenge of
fighting nature and winning.
Ocean racers are people who prefer a strong wind to a soft wind. They need the strong winds to
win a sailboat race. The crew on an ocean racing sailboat use all the latest technology to predict the
wind direction and strength, and then they seek the location where the wind is the strongest. The
stronger the wind is, the happier they will be.
The second group, storm spotters, consists of people who volunteer to help predict the weather for
those who need accurate information, such as boat captains. Their job is to report the weather
conditions they see and hear in their area. This is more accurate than radar or satellite information.
Storm spotters can actually save lives by reporting dangerous weather to the weather service and
local emergency agencies. These people send the news out by radio. Storm spotters want to help
out during severe weather so that people will be safe.
Storm chasers make up the last group, and they are the real weather fans. They follow storms in
their cars or trucks. They do not get paid for this; in fact, they do it for fun. Chasers are usually
looking for tornados, but they chase other severe weather as well. Their goal is to get a perfect
photograph of a storm. "When you get close to a storm, it is the most exciting sight you will ever
see in your life," says one of the storm chasers. uEvery storm is an example of the power of nature.
It is the greatest show on the earth."
You can say that storm chasers are absolutely the extreme weather lovers.
Why do the second group prefer stormy weather according to the text?
Because they dislike the calm weather.
Because they get paid to forecast stormy weather.
Because they love to race with the rain.
Because they can help to predict weather accurately.
What can we know about the ocean racers ?
They prefer soft winds to strong winds.
They like to follow the location of the strongest wind.
They can predict the wind direction and strength by experience.
They help weather services with weather forecast.
What is the real goal of storm chasers?
To forecast severe weather.
To get the sense of challenge for fun.
To challenge storms in their cars or trucks.
To get a perfect photograph of a storm.
What is the best title for the text?
A. Three Kinds of Chasers B. Ocean Racers
C. Storm Spotters D. Three Kinds of Storm-Lovers

How To Get Better Sleep
Many people have trouble in sleeping. 36 Here are four tips that will positively affect the quality of
your sleep.
No tech 90 minutes before bed. Switch off all electronic products like phones and laptops.
37 In addition, the blue-light out of these devices can actually reduce levels of a hormone, which
can help us drop into deep sleep.
Hug morning light. You might not have considered this, but going outside in the morning and
exposing yourself to natural light actually helps you sleep better in the evening. It does this by
helping you set your body's daily circadian rhythm.
38 Many people love a cup of tea or coffee, and I'm no exception. But for many of us, caffeine after
12 pm can negatively impact our sleep. There is considerable genetic variation (遗传变异)in
terms of how each of us processes caffeine. Many of us can take several hours to fully process the
caffeine so it is always worth giving this tip a try to see the impact on your sleep. I have many
patients who promise to me that caffeine isn't a problem for them until I convince them to try this
suggestion. 39
Create a routine. It's not just kids that need a routine! Many of us expect to finish off our work
e-mails and then immediately go to bed and fall asleep instantly. 40 However, taking a relaxing
bath, dimming lights or reading a book will get your body prepared for a relaxing sleep.

development of economy, more or more people have had cars or want to buy cars. The waste gas
