When Linda got pregnant(怀孕) for the second time, we wanted a home birth, not just for
ourselves, but for our daughter. We are very open with our daughter. We want to teach her
respect and awe(敬畏) for the things of bodies. So she was part of the process from the very
beginning.
In the morning, our daughter offered her mom water and food while she rested. When she
found the noise and activity of birth, she was too nervous to stay long, so she spent a few
minutes next to the tub(盆), then went into another room to play. The midwives (接生婆) called
her back in time to see her brother come into the world. As Linda pulled our tiny newborn son
up, our daughter and I rushed to her side, all four of us hugging and crying. We were very
excited. That night, and many times since then, our daughter said, “I'm so proud of Mom for
having a baby. ”It's a part of her life.
It was crucial that our daughter was part of that experience, not just for her, but for Linda
and me as well. Everything we wanted for her—a very familiar environment; continuing

He lived near my home, but my family knew little about him. We just waved our hands
and said hello to him as we walked past his house on the way to the city park. I was sure he was
lonely because I saw his sad look on his face. So I decided to help him smile. After school, I
would go to his house and chat with him while he was working in his backyard. Through the
way, he told me all about his flowers. I could know gardening was his hobby.
Sometimes,I sang and danced, and he would clap(拍) his hands and say “Bravo(好极
了)”. For me, it was a perfect stage(舞台). Looking back as an adult, he may have been

Dear Tom,
Some students think being home alone is terrible but I don't think so.
Last month my parents were away on holiday for three days. They worried that I
couldn't look after myself, but I could. Every day I got up on time, and then I went to
school by bus. After school I did my homework first, and then I tried to cook food.
Although I burned my food, I still liked it. Also, I cleaned up the house and looked
after our pet dog. When my parents came back, they were so surprised! And they
were proud of me.
Yours,
