三、完形填空 (共 10 小题;每小题 1 分,满分 10 分)
请先通读下面的短文,掌握其大意,然后从每小题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中选
出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
Cheating (欺骗) can happen in a lot of different ways. When people cheat, it’s not 36
to other people, like the kids who studied for the test or who were the true 37 of a
game.
Many people like the action of cheating. It makes difficult things seem easy, like getting
all the right answers on the test. But it doesn’t solve the problem of not 38 the material
and it won’t help on the next test — 39 the person cheats again.
Some people lose 40 for cheaters and think less of them. The cheaters themselves
may feel bad because they know they are not 41 getting that good grade. And, if they
get caught cheating, they will be in trouble at school, and maybe at home, too.
Some kids cheat because they’re busy or 42 and they want to get good grades
without spending the time studying. Other kids might feel like they can’t pass the test without
cheating. Even when there seems to be a “good 43 ” for cheating, cheating isn’t a good
idea.
If you are sick or worried about something the night before and can’t study, it will be
better to talk with the teacher about this. And if you don’t have enough time to study for a
test because of swim practice, you need to talk with your parents about how to 44
swimming and school.
A kid who thinks cheating is the 45 way to pass a test needs to talk with the
teacher and his or her parents so that they can find some ways together. Talking about these
problems and working them out will feel better than cheating.36. A. kind B. fair C. polite D. common
37. A. lovers B. reporters C. leaders D. winners
38. A. considering B. knowing C. collecting D. using
39. A. unless B. if C. because D. though

41. A. successfully B. clearly C. simply D. really
42. A. lazy B. wealthy C. lonely D. envy

When Johnson called again, the manager received him very politely. “That is a most
wonderful oil you brought us, Mr Johnson,” he said.
Johnson nodded his smooth, dark head. That was something he knew very well.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” the manager admitted (承认).
Johnson nodded again. “No?” he said politely. Then he added, “But I think you will, sir. A
very great deal of it.” He appeared to think for a moment. “I think you will find it will be on
sale seven, perhaps, eight years from now.” He smiled.
The manager thought that was uncertain. He said, “It is better than our fish oils. I admit
that.”
“So I am told, sir,” agreed Johnson.
“Have you any plans to produce it yourself, Mr Johnson?”
“Would I be showing it to you if I had?” Johnson smiled again.
“We might add some chemicals to one of our own fish oils,” said the manager.
“It would be expensive to do that, even if you could,” Johnson said gently. “Moreover,”
he added, “I am told that this oil will be much cheaper than your best fish oils. Cheaper than
any vegetable oil, in fact.”
“Perhaps,” said the manager. “Well, I suppose you want to make an arrangement, Mr
Johnson. Shall we discuss it?”
“Of course,” said Johnson. “There are two ways of dealing with a situation of this sort.
The usual one is to prevent it altogether or at least to delay (推迟) it as long as possible. That
is, of course, the best way.”The manager nodded. He knew plenty about all that.
“But I am so sorry for you, because, you see, that is not possible this time.”

Many parents like setting family rules for their kids. When kids break rules, parents will give
them some punishments, which aren’t included in rules. In fact, when you tell your kids about a
new rule, you should talk with them about the price they should pay for breaking the rule —
what the punishment will be.Punishments you set should be reasonable, without violence or threat (暴力或威胁). For
example, if you find your son smoking, you may limit his social activities for two weeks. You
should punish your kids only in ways you have discussed before. A study shows that the most
popular punishment is to limit kids’ TV time.
It’s understandable that you’ll be angry when rules are broken. Punishment is a way to
express your anger, but it’s not a very good one. Sharing your feelings of anger,
disappointment or sadness with your kids can have a better result. Try to do that. When your
kids know what they have done has made you sad, they will feel sorry. When they know their
actions influence you greatly, they will obey rules better.
Rules are made to help your kids behave better. If your rules or ways of punishment
make them unhappy or under a lot of pressure, are they helpful?
73. Whom is the article written for?
74. How does the writer like family rules and punishments?
75. Do you think it’s a good way to set family rules for kids? Why or why not?

One Possible Version:
Dear Jack,
Glad to hear you’re going to take part in the school table tennis competition.
I think you should practice playing table tennis every other day — perhaps three or four times a week, and two hours of training per day. To build up your strength, you’d better do
some other exercise like running or jumping. As for your diet, I suggest you eat plenty of grain
products, eat more fruit and vegetables instead of soft drinks. And don’t forget to have enough
sleep.
Also, it’s very important for a competitor to keep calm in the competition. It will help you
do well in the competition.
I hope my advice will be of use to you. Good luck with your competition. Be sure to write
and tell me how it goes.
Yours,
Li Hua

listening to loud music. Furthermore, while watching TV, they keep the volume up. But they
haven't realized that the noise is weakening their hearing. In fact, the noise not only influences
each member in the family, but also makes a difference to the comfort of neighbors.
Noise pollution is a source of increasing misery (痛苦) to people in our society. If people are
often disturbed by it, they may feel uncomfortable or upset. What's worse, the noise can make people mad sometimes. If a worker works in a printing factory for too long, his/her hearing loss
is much faster than a common person working in a quieter environment. So everybody must
pay more attention to noise pollution. Generally speaking ,the following four types of noise
should be watched out for:
◆Noise in the street
◆Construction site (建筑工地) noise
◆Noise at work
◆Transportation noise
I think the local department (部门) should take measures to control the noise levels, but it's
everybody's duty to keep a quiet environment.

A. Because we can't see it with our own eyes.

C. Because it often causes people to die.
D. Because it has no direct effect on humans.
62. What do the words “makes a difference to” mean?
A. influences B. produces C. refers D. provides

“You are what you eat” is a common English saying. It means the food you eat will become
part of you. Many experts use it to tell people it’s important to have a good eating habit. For
example, too much sweet food makes a person overweight. To avoid being fat, kids are told to
keep off sweet food. However, a team of American scientists have discovered something new
about eating sweet food.
“When we say some people ‘sweet’, we mean they are kind and friendly to us. Perhaps
this word can help us learn more about people’s feelings and acts.”said Brain Meier, a scientist
from the study team. “Taste is something we experience(体验) every day. What we have done
is to find whether we can know someone’s character and behavior depending on their taste.”
In one of their experiments(实验), college students were asked questions about their characters,
for example, they were soft-hearted or not. Then they were asked to make a list of their
favorite food. According to their answers, the scientists found that the students who liked
sweet food were nicer.
In their another experiment, the scientists found that people who preferred sweet food
such as cookies and chocolate helped other people in need, but those who ate non-sweet food
such as chips weren’t. For example, people with a sweet tooth were more possibly to volunteer
to clean up their city, visit sick children in the hospital and so on.
The result of experiments is that people’s helpfulness or being nice has something to do
with their taste for sweet food. So eating sweet food is a useful way to make people nice and
helpful. Next time, try some ice-cream.
66.What does the underlined word “it” refer to(指代) ?

B. Kids are told to keep away from sweet food to be fat.
C. What you put in your mouth will show your character.
D. If people want to be kind or friendly, they can try some sweet food.
70.What does the passage mainly talk about?
