【知识详解·记】
表示感觉和知觉的系动词
taste 尝起来 The apples taste sweet.
这些苹果尝起来甜甜的。
smell 闻起来 The milk smells sour.
这牛奶闻起来酸了。
feel 摸起来 The silk dress feels soft.
这件丝绸裙子摸起来柔软。
look 看起来 The girl looks beautiful.
这个女孩看上去很美。
sound 听起来 That sounds like good news.
那听起来是个好消息。
在英语中, 除大家最熟悉的系动词be外, 表示感觉
和知觉的动词taste, smell, feel, look, sound也可以作
系动词。它们的后面通常接形容词作表语, 说明主语的
特性, 有时也通过介词like接名词。除look之外, 其他几
个动词的主语往往是物, 而不是人。
【助记】
五个表感觉和知觉的系动词分别与我们的眼、耳、
口、鼻和手相关联, 如图所示:
【警示】
表示感觉和知觉的系动词和be动词不同, 其否定形
式和疑问形式的构成要借助助动词don’t, doesn’t, do
或does。例如:
Your voice doesn’t sound good.
你的嗓音听起来不好。
Does it smell fresh?
它闻起来新鲜吗?
I don’t feel well today.
今天我感觉不好。(well指身体“好”时是形容词。)
Do they look happy?
他们看上去高兴吗?

Junior high school days will be over. I have some
special memories. One of them is about a teacher. In
my heart, Mr Wang, my English teacher, is the
nicest teacher. He is of medium height. He impresses
me with a friendly, kind and hard-working teacher.
He is strict with us. He helps us with English not only
in class but also after class. About two years ago, Mr
Wang noticed that I was worried about my poor
pronunciation. So he offered me some advice and
encouraged me. He also gave me chances to speak as
much as possible in class. With his help, my
pronunciation has improved a lot.
I must say thanks to Mr Wang. I wish him a
healthy and happy life in the future.
