高中生英语演讲稿：Discover yourselfHow many times have I stood in front of the mirror, looking at the figure inside, wondering, what kind of person do I want to be? How many nights have I lain on the bed, asking myself: what do I really want?We were told to set a goal for our life as early as we were in primary school, but some of us are still pondering over the same question and couldn’t get an absolute answer. Every day in our life, we are searching, for a better goal, for a new self.There was a man who once dreamt of being a pop singer, so he learned to play different musical instruments; practice various types of dance, and even tried to master a third language. Though success doesn’t come easy, he managed to make a name for himself eventually. One would expect a “happy ending”, but the man’s sudden “retirement” told us a different story. He discovered that he was born to sing rather than entertain; he lives for music, but not the limelight.So what do you say?“What a man!” some may sigh, “giving up hard-earned fame and fortune just because of some tiny little bit upset? What was he thinking?“Congratulations to him”, others may say, “for he has finally discovered himself, knowing better about what he really wants. Fame and fortune is a small price to pay for the freedom of one’s heart.Well, I say: pursing heart-felt music? Yes, right thing to do. But by sacrificing all that has been achieved? No! It’s true that we need to discover ourselves to realize our hidden potentials. If a born writer who lacks eloquence and boldness attempts to be a lecturer, his efforts may prove in vain. When difficulty comes, he needs to re-discover himself. However, he who has come a long way should never give up easily to a so-called new discovery of himself. Instead, what should be done here is to create, create an opportunity in between and get a win-win.Ladies and gentleman, remember: discover yourself to fit in life or…take the initiative, invent a way to make life suit you!
