附:听力材料
(Text 1)
W: Excuse me, I'm looking for Mr Tang.
M: Oh, he is not on this floor. He is on the fourth floor. Go down the stairs and turn left.
(Text 2)
M: I have spent three days preparing for the exam. I will do anything as long as it can let me pass the exam.
W: Do you think that can help? You've been absent from school for over a month.
(Text 3)
W: Do you still play the guitar sometimes these days?
M: Yeah. But not as often as I used to.
W: Why? Don't you enjoy it as much as you did before?
M: No, it's still one of my favourite hobbies. I'm just busy with my studies these days.
(Text 4)
M: Where should we take the kids on vacation this year? They've been begging to go to Disney World, but I just don't think we can afford it.
W: I know. Why don't we find a cheap hotel on the beach? We always have a great time there.
(Text 5)
M: I've finally finished my paper. Can you help me check it before I hand it in?
W: Sure. Let's take a look, sweetie. Oh, it's excellent! I can tell you worked hard on it.
M: Thanks. I really did. I just hope my teacher agrees.
(Text 6)
M: Hey, Susie. What are you doing?
W: Hi, Tommy. I'm making a list for our club. We are raising money for the Children's Home. They need a new kitchen.
M: You'll need a lot of money for that! How are you raising money?
W: Last month, we sold homemade cookies. We had a yard sale last week as well. We've gotten some donations, too, but we need more. Any good ideas?
M: I think you should have a car wash. I'm sure you'll raise a lot of money.
W: That's a good idea. We can have it in the parking lot of the community center.
(Text 7)
M: Mary, when we get out of the elevator, could you call the repair shop to ask if my car has been repaired? I'm going into a meeting right away, so I don't have time to call them.
W: Sure, Mr Walters. By the way, if your car's still being repaired, how are you going to get to work tomorrow? Is your wife going to take you?
M: No, she goes in a different direction.
W: I can call a taxi for you, if you want.
M: No, thanks. I'm considering taking the bus.
W: That might be a good idea. You could get off right in front of our building, and you wouldn't have to worry about parking.
(Text 8)
M: You don't look happy. What's the problem?
W: I have to write a long composition, and I just can't come up with any ideas, and I have to hand it in tomorrow.
M: That shouldn't be too difficult. Remember those pictures you were showing me last week?
W: Sure. I've got them here.
M: Why don't you write about your impressions of the Pyramids in Egypt and the like?
W: Sounds like a good idea. I can also tell about our visit to North Africa, the Holy Land and all of the historical places we visited.
M: Well, now that you're feeling better about this, I think I'll be on my way. I've got to finish my composition too.
W: Thanks. Once I get organised, it won't be so difficult.
(Text 9)
M: Good evening. Do you have any rooms available at the moment?
W: Yes, we do. How many nights do you want to stay?
M: Four, if it's possible.
W: Okay, let me see ... I'm sorry, sir. I'm afraid we can only give you a room for two nights. It's a very busy period right now. We're almost fully booked these days.
M: All right. I'll just stay for tonight, then. It's too late to go to other hotels now. I'll search for another one tomorrow.
W: That's an excellent idea, sir. And thank you for your understanding. So, a single room for one night. Here is your key card, and your room is on the 7th floor.
M: Thanks. By the way, is there a swimming pool in the hotel?
W: Yes, there is. It's on the 15th floor. But it closes at 10:00 p.m., so it was closed 45 minutes ago already.
M: That's too bad.
W: We do have a gym that opens 24 hours. It's on the 14th floor.
M: Great! Thanks for letting me know.
W: You're welcome, sir. Oh, before I forget, breakfast is served on the 2nd floor from 6:30 to 10:00 in the morning.
(Text 10)
Ladies and gentlemen, we have an announcement for you. All flights leaving for Western Europe have been cancelled because of a large cloud of smoke that has travelled from a volcano. If you were planning to fly to Northern Europe today, please check with your airline to see if your flight is still scheduled to take off. We aren't sure when the planes to Western Europe will be rescheduled. There is no rain in the forecast right now, but there is a chance that some strong winds from the east will clear the skies tomorrow. We apologize for this delay. Unfortunately, the airlines cannot provide you with a hotel for the evening, but we hope you'll be comfortable in our airport. There are small cupboards with locks just outside each security check. You can store your luggage safely and freely. There is a quiet zone on the third floor with chairs that open out to make small beds. If you're from the Dallas area, please pay
special attention to your cellphone. You will receive a message from your airline if your flight gets scheduled to leave.

Ways to Improve Vocabulary in Just One Day
The average American has a vocabulary in the thousands. Try these tricks to make sure yours builds up.
Watch movies
“If you see the movie version of your favourite book you're likely to have a deeper understanding and knowledge of the words in it,” says Neuman, professor of Childhood and Literacy Education at New York University.“Seeing and reading something on the same topic is really important.”
Read magazines
If you want to improve vocabulary, don't just flip through your favourite magazine, really read it.
Listen to how words sound
Many people won't remember tricky words unless they come across them frequently. But if you hear a word that you think sounds interesting, you become word conscious(有意识的) and start using it yourself, says Neuman.
Join a book club
“Book clubs are a wonderful strategy to learn new words,” says Neuman. Not only will it force you to set aside time in your day to read, but it's also a good way to discover books you might not normally be drawn to.
Listen to the radio
Those types of programs can expose you to topics you may not be familiar with. Don't miss these middle school vocabulary words adults still don't know.
Pay attention to your surroundings
Next time you walk down a busy street or take a walk in the park, try to describe what you're seeing as much as possible inside your head.
Read, read, read
Even if you don't stop to look up every single foreign word, chances are you can improve vocabulary simply by figuring out (想出) their meaning based on the context.

It's school time again! You're probably feeling excited or maybe a little sad for the vacation is over. Some kids feel nervous or a little scared on the first day of school because of all the new things: new teachers, new friends, and maybe even a new school. Luckily, these “new” worries only stick around for a little while. Let's find out more about going back to school.
Most teachers kick_off the school year by introducing themselves and talking about what you'll be doing that year. Some teachers give students a chance to tell something about themselves to the rest of the class.
When teachers do the talking on the first day, they often go over classroom rules so you'll know what's allowed and what's not. Pay close attention so you'll know if you need to raise your hand to ask a question and what the rules are about visiting the restroom.
You might already know a lot of people in your class on the first day. But it's a great day to make new friends, so try to say “hello” to the kids you know and the new ones that you don't. Make the first move and you'll be glad about what you did and so will your new friends!
Most teachers let you pick your own seat on the first day, but by the second or third morning, they'll have mapped out a seating plan. It's a good idea to write down where your seat is in your notebook so you don't forget.
Here are a few final tips for a fantastic (奇异的) first day: Get enough sleep; Have a healthy breakfast; Try your best; Develop good work habits, like writing down your assignments (作业) and handing in your homework on time; Take your time with schoolwork; If you don't understand something, ask the teacher.

The first living creatures to travel in space were the dogs of the Soviet Unions space program. Beginning in 1951 dogs flew aboard suborbital flights to the height of 63 miles and higher. They helped to test the equipment that would later be used by humans. The first pair
of dogs to fly, on July 22, 1951, were named Tsygan and Dezik.
Space dogs would make history on November 3, 1957. On this date, just one month after the historic launch of the world's first artificial satellite, Sputnik, the Soviet Union shocked the world again by launching Sputnik 2. This satellite contained the first living creature to travel in space, a dog named Laika. Laika was to have orbited for a week or more until her food and oxygen ran out. In fact, Laika lasted only hours in orbit before over heating in her capsule (太空舱) took her life.
That next step occurred in August 1960, when the dogs Belka and Strelka made 18 orbits of earth and returned alive. Like Laika before them, they became distinguished,_featured in newspapers and magazines around the world.
Six more orbital dog flights over the next eight months further tested the equipment necessary for humans to follow in the dogs' footsteps. That historic event happened on April 12, 1961, when Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel in space.
The role of the space dogs had proven important in advancing the exploration of space. But, they would make one final flight. In 1966, traveling aboard the Cosmos 110 satellite, the dogs Ugolek and Veterok spent 22 days in orbit. Once again dogs led the way. Humans would not achieve a space flight that long for eight more years, in Skylab 2.

64.description 她继续描述了一下那张卡片。根据空前的“a”和空后的“of”可知此处应用名词description。give a description of sth.“对……做出描述”。
65.was blessed 她告诉我说,最近她有幸拥有如此多好的东西。此处叙述的是发生在过去的事情,故用一般过去时;主语she与bless之间是被动关系,应用被动语态。be blessed with sth.“有幸拥有某物,被赋予某物”。

Dear Bill,
I am sorry to know you are having trouble with your life and study here. However, the situation is easy to change. Now, I'd like to give you some advice.
Firstly, join some school clubs, where you can make some friends. Secondly, communicate with the people who have the same interest with you. Maybe it can help you get rid of your loneliness. Thirdly, do some outdoor activities and they can make you relaxed. By doing all these, you can get used to your school life and live happily.
Hope my advice can help you.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节:读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Justin and Mary woke up early, even though they were vacationing at their uncle's lake house. The night before, Uncle_Thomas_told them about the_Foggy_Figure that haunts (经常出没于) the lake. Justin and Mary were determined to see the ghostly creature before their vacation_was over.
“Is it foggy outside?” Mary asked, as Justin carefully looked out of the_window.
“Yup! Let's go!” Justin let go of the curtain and rushed to the door with Mary.
It was only 5:00 a. m., so everyone else in the house was still asleep. As they moved quietly through the kitchen to the back door, Mary sniffed the air. It had the faint scent (气味) of_coffee_and something sweet. A sense of hunger struck her. “Maybe we should first have a_breakfast,” she thought. But she still followed Justin out the door, down the back steps, and out onto the boat dock (码头). The fog had settled over the lake, making it impossible to see anything.
“Do you see anything?” Mary asked, moving forward for a closer look.
“Nothing. Do you think Uncle Thomas was just trying to scare us with that_story?”
Uncle Thomas did have a good imagination. He'd been telling Justin and Mary stories for years, but this was the first scary story. Mary had a feeling it wasn't made up.
Mary shook her head.“Remember what Uncle Thomas said? The Foggy Figure haunts the lake. We're on the dock. Maybe that's why we can't see him. The people in the story were in boats.”
“You want to_take_a_boat_ride on the water?” Justin asked.
Mary looked around, trying to find Uncle Thomas' boat, but the fog was too thick.
“Mom and Dad will be really angry if we go out on the lake alone in this fog,” Justin said.
Mary shrugged (耸肩).“Maybe we don't have to go anywhere. We could sit in_the_boat while it's docked. That wouldn't be dangerous.”
“Okay.” Justin moved toward the end of the dock. He could barely see the outline of the boat. “I'll go first.”

参考范文:
Paragraph 1:
Justin carefully lowered himself into the boat and then reached for Mary's hand. Mary climbed into the boat and sat beside him. She was getting nervous now that they were on the water.“See anything?” They looked around, and gradually, the fog began to lift. Mary turned around and screamed.“The_Foggy_Figure!” It was in_the_boat with them!
Paragraph 2:
Justin and Mary hugged each other in fear, but then they heard a laugh. Justin moved toward the Foggy Figure.“Uncle_Thomas?” “I knew that story would get you two out of bed early enough to take_a_boat_ride with me.” Mary sighed, happily there was no Foggy Figure after all. Justin looked relieved, too. Uncle Thomas laughed.“What do you say? I packed a_breakfast for us.” Mary smiled. She had smelled the scent_of_coffee. And Uncle Thomas had packed sweet cakes for them, too.“Let's do it,” Mary and Justin said.
