Nowadays, cell phones are part of our lives. Many people have cell phones. They can help us
easily find people anywhere at any time. However, using cell phones too often may cause cancer(
癌
症
). It’s reported that people who use a cell phone for 10 years or more may get brain cancer.
The suggestions below may help you reduce(
减少
) the risk of cancer;
When using your cell phone, try to keep it away from your body as much as possible. Don
’
t put
it on the bedside table when you go to sleep.
A. Wish you a nice future!
B. And I want to do something for it.
C. Can I help you?
D. May I ask you some questions?
E. For about two years.
F. When are you going back to China?
G. What are you going to do after finishing your study?
When you
’
re on the cell phone, use the speaker(
扬声器

idea.
Try to keep your conversations short. If you need to talk longer, use an ordinary phone instead.
Change ears when you’re using your cell phone. Before putting it to your ear, wait until the
person you are calling picks up the phone.
Your phone gives out radiation when you talk or send messages, but not when you’re listening
or getting messages. Listening more and talking less can lower the risk of cancer.

increases the radiation it gives out.

Have you ever wanted to see the Great Wall of China, or win an Oscar for Best Director, or swim
with dolphins(
海豚
)? If so, you are not alone. We all have things we want to do or achieve. These are
part of our
“
bucket lists
”
. A bucket is a list of things that someone wants to experience in his or her
lifetimes. These things can be big or small. Have you ever thought about what is on your bucket list?
Lindsay, 15, created her bucket list when she was 14. She has given her list serious thought. “I’ve
always wanted to travel into space,” she says. “I don’t really want to be an astronaut. But I do want to
go to space as a tourist. I want to see the Earth from above.” Other things on her list include being on
TV, seeing her favorite band in concert, learning how to speak Portuguese(
葡萄牙语
), and living in a
foreign country.
“
I
’
ve always wanted to live in Brazil. As part of my bucket list, I want to attend
Carnival(
狂欢节
)in the capital of Brazil,
”
she says.
Jose, 16, recently created a list of things he wants to achieve. It changes sometimes-- he adds and
takes away things because he wants to keep the number of the things at seven. One thing has stayed
at number one, though: he wants to visit a movie set(
影视基地
). He would like to see the Harry Potter
or The Hobbit movie sets. Other things on the list include being on TV, meeting his favorite sports
star, living in a foreign country, skateboarding down a mountain, attending the World Cup, and
backpacking across Europe. He would like to spend two months visiting Eastern Europe with his best
friend Adam. “Maybe after I graduate from college,” says Jose.
Carrie, 14, also has a bucket list. She first created it when she was 12. She would like to live in a
foreign country for at least two years. She also wants to learn as many foreign languages as possible.
But the number one thing on her list is to see her favorite band in concert. She also wants to go on a
trip and to visit a movie set. Her favorite movies are the Hunger Games and Star Wars. Carrie is
confident she will do most or all of the things on her bucket list. “I’m only 14,” she says, “I have my
whole life ahead of me!”
80. What is No.1 at Lindsay’s bucket list?
A. Visiting a movie sat. B. Living in Brazil.
C. Traveling to space. D. Seeing her favorite band.
81. Who is probably the most interested in sports according to his or her bucket list?
A. Lindsay. B. Jose. C. Adam. D. Carrie.
82. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Lindsay and Carrie both love music.
B. Jose and Carrie are both space fans.
C. All the three teens want to visit movie sets.
D. Jose and Adam hope to live in a foreign country.
83. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. We should keep changing our bucket lists to meet our needs.
B. We must think about our bucket lists before they are created.
C. Our bucket lists can help us work towards achieving our goals.
D. Being confident is a key to our achievement on our bucket lists.D
Waste can be seen everywhere in the school. Some students ask for more food than they can eat
and others often forget to turn off the lights when they leave the classroom.
They say they can afford these things. But I don't agree with them.
Waste can bring a lot of problems. Although China is rich in some resources (
资源
), we are short
of(
缺乏
) others, for example, fresh water (
淡水
). It is reported that we will have no coal (
煤
) or oil to
use in 100 years. So if we go on wasting our resources, what can we use in the future and where can
we move? Think about it. I think we should say no to the students who waste things every day.
Everybody should stop wasting as soon as possible.
In our everyday life, we can do many things to prevent waste from happening, for example, turn
off the water taps (
水龙头
) when we finish washing, turn off the lights when we leave the classroom,
try not to order more food than we need, and so on. Little by little, everything will be changed. Waste
can be stopped one day if we do our best.
84. From the passage we know that some students often ______ in the school.
A. eat too much B. sleep with the lights on
C. waste things D. throw rubbish everywhere
85. What may happen in 100 years?
A. We may still have enough oil. B. We may move to other planets
C. We may still have enough coal. D. We may have no coal or oil to use.
86.Which of the follow is TRUE according to the passage
、
A. Waste brings problems. B. Waste brings no problem.
C. China is rich in fresh water. D. We needn’t worry about our resources.
87.Which is the best title (
题目
) of this passage?
A. Future in China B. School life C. Different Resources D. Stop wastingE
Once upon a time, there was a happy monkey in the forest, eating delicious fruit when hungry
and resting when tired.
One day he got up very early and came to a house, where he saw a bunch of the most beautiful
bananas he had ever seen. He took one in each hand and ran back into the forest. He sniffed the
bananas but smelled nothing. He tried to eat them but hurt his teeth. The bananas were made of
wood, but they were beautiful. When he saw other monkeys, he held on them even tighter (
牢牢地
).
The little monkey took great pride in his bananas. He loved them so much that he didn’t even notice
his hunger (
饥饿
) at first. A fruit tree reminded (
提醒
) him about but he didn
’
t want to put down the
wooden apples. In fact, he couldn
’
t relax, either. He couldn
’
t climb trees to get fruit with his hands
full, so a proud but less happy monkey kept walking around.
What if he just lets go? Letting go such valuable things seemed crazy, but what else could he do?
He was so hungry. Seeing the next fruit tree, he dropped the wooden apples to have breakfast. He
became happy again.
Like that little monkey, we sometimes carry things that seem too valuable to let go. If the
monkey hadn’t let the wooden bananas go, he might have been found dead of hunger, under a
beautiful fruit tree, with his wooden bananas in his hands

Walk to school
Walking to school is a wonderful way to exercise, it’s good for our health. First, it’s fun to walk
together with friends every day. We can talk about something interesting and know each other better.
And we can help each other. What’s more, if we walk, our parents won’t have to give us a ride to
school. There will be fewer cars in the city. More walking and less driving make our city cleaner. The
streets won’t be as crowded as they are now. I hope more and more students will go to school on foot.
And we will have a better life and a cleaner environment to live in. So let’s walk to school together.
