第一节:阅读下列材料,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C 和 D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题纸上将该
选项标号涂黑。
A
On the day after Thanskgiving in the US, or Black Friday, lots of stores offer special discounts to mark the
beginning of holiday shopping season. In China, a similar day falls on Nov. 11 when millions of Chinese shoppers
go to Tmall.com and Taobao.com, two e-commerce websites operated by Alibaba.
The 11.11 Shopping Festival, as the event is now called, is also known in China as Singles Day. The shopping
festival first started in 2009 and Alibaba said it chose the date because it was easy to remember. Last year, Tmall
and Taobao together produced 19.1 billion in sales on that day, according to Aliba ba. This year’s shopping festival
kicked off with an even stronger start—sales hit 100 million yuan 55 seconds after midnight and reached 35
billion at the end of the day.
The shopping spree(狂 欢) drew the attention of China’s leaders, as Premier Li Keqiang recently praised
Alibaba’s founder, Jack Ma, for creating a day for consumption( 消 费 ). China is trying to lead the country’s
economy to a slower, more sustainable growth model based on domestic ( 国 内 的 ) consumption instead of
investment and exports. Online shopping is no doubt a growth point that will release spending potential. China had
564 million regular Internet users by the end of last year. It has surpassed the US to become the world’s largest
e-commerce market, with its online sales over 1 trillion US dollars (6 trillion yuan) by 2020.
“The real-time nature of online consumption attracts millions of people to spend money and enjoy life.
E-commerce opens a new channel for China to encourage domestic demand,” Liu Yin, vice-president of the China
International Electronic Commerce Center said. More importantly, it promotes employment and the logistics (物
流) industry with its sales model of “online purchasing plus express delivery”, he added. Convenience, choice and
low prices have increased online shopping, but there are still some problems with the one-day shopping spree.
Some online shops, driven by the huge profits, took this opportunity to play price tricks. They raised prices to
twice those of the originals in the early October and then offered discounts on Nov 11. Many consumers, driven
by the advantage they could take, just went along for the ride. “They spend lots of time online to check what to
buy and are happy to get what they don’t really need at a lower price,” wrote Jia Ge, an Internet analyst, on his
Sina weibo.

If you were swimming in the ocean, it would be hard for you to miss sperm whales(抹香鲸)swimming by.
They’re longer than the average school bus, and once every hour or so they come to the surface and breathe. In a
recent study, scientists found evidence that sperm whales may work together to hunt and feed.
This is very bad news indeed for certain types of squid(鱿鱼).
Scientist already knew that sperm whales, like a lot of mammals, can come together to form communities.
Some researchers think that these groups, usually female and young whales, raise their young together. The new
study suggests that in addition to raising whales, these groups also cooperate when they’re going after a meal.
Sperm whales usually feast on squid, but to catch these animals the whales sometimes have to dive
thousands of feet below the ocean surface. In 2008, scientists set out to study groups of sperm whales. The
researchers were surprised to find that, when diving to the deep, the whales followed unexpected patterns.
Some whales zigzagged back and forth, and it appeared that the whales did not all follow the same paths.
“We expected their dives to be similar, but often one of the three whales went deeper than the other two,”
Bruce Mate, the director of Oregon State University’s Marine Mammal Institute, said.
Mate and his team suspect that some whales were driving individual squid into one large group— so that
other whales could swim right into the middle of the squid and feast.
Mate’s research suggests that sperm whales are herding(群聚) but doesn’t deliver proof, says Kelly Benoit
Bird, a biological oceanographer. The scientists only looked at whales, not whale’s prey (猎物),she says, so it’s
difficult to tell exactly what was happening with the squid.
So now, Mate is headed back to the ocean— to study the squid. But it won’t be easy; Unlike fish, which
show up on sonar(声纳装置)because they have air bladders(气鳔), squid are harder to find. Plus, Mate won’t be
the only one searching for squid: The sperm whales are still out there, and they are hungry.
50. The new research mainly finds out____________________.
A. sperm whales raise their young together
B. sperm whales cooperate to hunt and feed
C. sperm whales come together to form communities
D. sperm whales cooperate to swim faster

John Blanchard stood up from the bench, straightened his Army uniform, and studied the crowd of people
making their way through Grand Central Station. He looked for the girl whose heart he knew, but whose face he
didn’t, the girl with the rose.
His interest in her had begun thirteen months before in a Florida library. Taking a book off the shelf he found
himself intrigued, not with the words of the book, but with the notes penciled in the margin. The soft
handwriting reflected a thoughtful soul and insightful mind. In the front of the book, he discovered the previous
owner’s name, Miss Hollis Maynell. With time and effort he located her address. She lived in New York City. He
wrote her a letter introducing himself and inviting her to correspond. The next day he was shipped overseas for
service in World War II.
During the next year and one month the two grew to know each other through the mail. Each letter was a
seed falling on a fertile heart. A romance was starting. Blanchard requested a photograph, but she refused. She
felt that if he really cared, it wouldn’t matter what she looked like.
When the day finally came for him to return from Europe, they scheduled their first meeting —7:00 PM at
the Grand Central Station in New York. “You’ll recognize me,” she wrote, “by the red rose I’ll be wearing on my
lapel.” So at 7:00 he was in the station looking for a girl whose heart he loved, but whose face he’d never seen.
I’ll let Mr. Blanchard tell you what happened: A young woman was coming toward me, her figure long and
slim. Her blonde hair lay back in curls from her delicate ears; her eyes were blue as flowers. Her lips and chin had
a gentle firmness, and in her pale green suit she was like springtime come alive. I stared at her, entirely forgetting
to notice that she was not wearing a rose. As I moved, a small, attractive smile curved her lips. “Going my way,
sailor?” she murmured.
Almost uncontrollably I made one step closer to her, and then I saw Hollis Maynell. She was standing almost
directly behind the girl. A woman well past 40, she had graying hair tucked under a worn hat. She was more than
plump, her thick-ankled feet thrust into low-heeled shoes. The girl in the green suit was walking quickly away. I
felt as though I was split in two, so keen was my desire to follow her, and yet so deep was my longing for the
woman whose spirit had truly companioned me and upheld my own.
And there she stood. Her pale, plump face was gentle and sensible, her gray eyes had a warm and kindly
twinkle. I did not hesitate. My fingers gripped the small worn blue leather copy of the book that was to identify
me to her.
This would not be love, but it would be something precious, something perhaps even better than love, a
friendship for which I had been and must ever be grateful. I squared my shoulders and saluted and held out the
book to the woman, even though while I spoke I felt choked by the bitterness of my disappointment. “I'm
Lieutenant John Blanchard, and you must be Miss Maynell. I am so glad you could meet me; may I take you to
dinner?”
The woman's face broadened into a tolerant smile. “I don't know what thi s is about, son,”she answered,
“but the young lady in the green suit who just went by, she begged me to wear this rose on my coat. And she said
if you were to ask me out to dinner, I should go and tell you that she is waiting for you in the big restaurant across
the street. She said it was some kind of test!”
It's not difficult to understand and admire Miss Maynell's wisdom. The true nature of a heart is seen in its
response to the unattractive. “Tell me whom you love,” Houssaye wrote, “And I will tell you who you are.”

第二 节:下面文章中有 5 处(第 61-65 题)需要添加小标题。请从以下选项(A、B、C、D、E 和 F)中选
出符合各段意思的标题,并在答题纸上将相应选项的标号涂黑。选项中有一项是多余选项。
A. Invest in a noise machine.

D. Stretch and practice proper posture.
E. Brew some tea.
F. Light a candle.
We all have a little (or maybe a whole lot of) stress in our lives. The way we deal with that stress is crucial to
our well-being. So keep that nail-biting at bay. There are many quick and easy activities that reduce your stress
level and keep cortisol levels in check. Believe me when I say that if you take time during your day to de-stress,
you will not only feel better but you may even improve your memory and shrink your waistline. Here are eight
stress-relievers I love, for daytime or bedtime, they each take just a few minutes to do!
61._____________________________
Breathe in as you (silently) count to eight, hold your breath for a heartbeat or two, then slowly exhale as you
count to eight. Repeat. This super simple exercise is incredibly powerful and can help you improve your memory
and manage stress.
62.____________________________
Both help to relieve pain, de-stress, relax your muscles and energize your body. In many ways, they are the
basis for overall fitness. Try rolling your head from side to side, doing some toe touches and pulling your arms
across your chest. And a few posture pointers: Stand straight, hold your shoulders back and keep your tummy in.
63._____________________________
There's nothing better than getting cozy with a calm cup of tea. Green tea has an amino acid called theanine,
which sends your brain into a state of relaxed alertness that allows you to get a deeper sleep and respond to
stress more calmly. Too hot? Make it iced.
64. _____________________________
Can't turn down the noise in your brain? Maybe white noise is the answer. Sometimes the key to getting a
good night's sleep is cancelling even the tiniest noisy distractions. Many noise machines also have the option of
playing soothing sounds, such as ocean waves or rainfall. The repetition of these noises often helps many people
drift into much needed shut-eye.
65. _____________________________
Clearing your mind before hitting the hay may be the hardest of these tips. Adequate sleep (seven to eight
hours) plays a key role in helping you bounce back from stress. Getting a good night's sleep starts with the proper
environment. Shut off that cell phone and turn off your TV!

Two years ago, I was in greatly depression. I worked hard at piano learning and devoted all my spare time to
practice it. But I failed to pass the B Level Test, that made me quite disappointed. So I turned to my grandpa on
advice when I got home. Hearing of what I told him, he smiled, “Test result sometimes can not show your real
ability and level. Thus, my progress should not be judged only by one test.” He encouraged me to work hard for
the next year’s B Level Test. I take my grandpa’s advice. Now the certificates of B Level is in front of me, but I’ve
