Why do people take “selfies(自拍)?”
Researchers at Syracuse University in New York tried to answer that question. 16. People who post selfies
and use editing software to make themselves look better show behavior connected to admiring themselves too much,
the Syracuse researchers said. 17. As social media can be shallow, it is a good place for people to “work towards
satisfying their own overmuch pride.”
18. People who post group selfies show a need for popularity and a need to belong to a group, the Syracuse
University research found.
Other findings from the study include: There are no major differences on how often men and women post
selfies and how often they use editing software. 19.
The Newhouse School’s Associate Professor Makana Chock worked on the study. She said, posting selfies on
social media is not all that different from what people have done for many years. On trips, our parents and
grandparents used cameras to take photos. Before social media, people would bring back photos to show friends
and family. You had no choice but to look at them. If you are a nice person, you commented about how nice
everyone in the photos looked, especially children and the person showing the photos. 20.
On social media, it is a different experience. People can decide not to look at photos of their friends and family
even if they click “like” or even “love” under the Facebook selfie.
A.That was the old way of “clicking” like.
B.They came up with some surprising answers.
C.Different people have different opinions about it.
D.Such people think very highly of themselves, especially how they look.
E.Both cameras and phones are useful tools to record people’s experiences.
F.There are other reasons, besides admiring themselves, why people post selfies.
G.But men desire to be seen as popular more than women when posting selfies.

Not all walks need be a forced march. Here are 4 of Britain's gentlest routes, both urban trails and
countryside meanderings(曲径).
The Grand Union Canal, Birmingham
Start Point:The Bordesley Centre
The original Grand Union Canal runs for 137 miles, taking you through an industrial area to discover the
hidden world of canals, with narrow boats, wildlife and fishermen. Along the canal, look out for wildflowers and
birdlife, and narrow boats negotiating the locks. The walk can be extended along the canal at either end to make it
flexible in length.
Warley Woods, Keswick
Start point:Keswick Youth Hostel
Starting in the centre of Keswick, this walk takes you up through Castlehead Wood, the perfect place for a
woodland adventure, and to a wonderful viewpoint over Derwentwater and the surrounding mountains. The route
then takes you down to the lakeshore and returns across Crow Park to the market square.
Chester-le-Street, County Durham
Start point:Chester-le-Street Amateur Rowing Club
A lovely riverside walk along the banks of the River Wear, through Riverside Park and past Durham county
football club. The circular route follows a curve in the river, meaning you'll have beautiful views along the way.
Watch the rowers on the river or stop in the park to feed the swans and ducks. This walk is wheelchair-friendly.
Hathersage Flower Meadows(草地),Derbyshire
Start point:Hathersage Railway Station
There are attractive views to be appreciated throughout this scenic walk and two sites of protected meadow
offer a real treat to summertime walkers. Fans of the works of great masters, like Charlotte Bronte, will enjoy
spotting several places that are closely associated with the authors.
21.What can you do in Warley Woods?
A.Enjoy mountain scenery.
B.Walk along the canal.
C.Go boating on the lake.
D.Do shopping in the park.
22.What is special about Chester-le-Street?
A.It is attractive to shoppers.
B.It is available to the disabled.
C.It is friendly to foreign tourists.
D.It is popular with football fans.
23.Which place do literature lovers prefer?
A.The Grand Union Canal.
B.Warley Woods.

As my husband and I drove down a country road, we passed a fire station with a sign that read, "Are you
ready for the next storm?” Our area had just been in the path of Hurricane Irma, causing downed trees and outages.
We were stuck in the dark and cut off from the outside world.
We have had our share of storms in the past--a snowstorm and other heavy snows that knocked down trees,
sometimes up to a week at a time. Those days in a cold house weren't fun, but we learned so much from those early
storms, things that made later storms easier to bear.
Now we have stored up flashlights, lanterns and candles. We bought a battery-operated radio to keep up with
the news. We stocked up on batteries so that we'd have plenty for extended power failures. We make sure our grill
(烤架) is ready and its tank is full, and we purchase food that can be easily prepared and then cooked or heated
on the grill. And we don't forget to buy emergency chocolate! We have book lights to read in the dark. We keep our
car gas tanks full and have emergency cash on hand.
We're ready for the next storm, but we wouldn't have learned to do all those things if we hadn't encountered a
storm in the past. The same is true spiritually. Those little storms in our lives are never fun, but they prepare us for
the big storms--the big trials--that will come our way, They can teach us some valuable lessons.
Are you ready for the next storm? Now is the time to get ready. . . not when the storm arrives.
24.Which can replace the underlined word "outages” in paragraph 1?
A.weather change
B.virus' spreading
C.power failure
D.emotional reaction
25.What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A.The lessons that storms can teach us.
B.The importance of being ready for storms.
C.The necessities the author bought for her daily life.
D.The preparations the author made for the next storm.
26.What does the author think of experiencing the past storms?
A.It was rewarding.
B.It was annoying.
C.It was thrilling.
D.It was frightening.
27.What can we learn from the author's story?
A.Things will work out.
B.Keep something for a rainy day.
C.Don't stop regardless of the weather.
D.Sunshine always comes after the storm.

Our area had just been in the path of Hurricane Irma, causing downed
trees”,后一句提到“We were stuck…and cut off from the outside world”作者和丈夫所在的地区刚刚受到飓风
“厄玛”的袭击,causing downed trees 导致树木倒下,他们被困,与外界失去联系。根据“cut off from the outside
Now we have stored up flashlights, lanterns and candles. We bought a
battery-operated radio to keep up with the news. We stocked up on batteries so that we'd have plenty for extended
power failures. We make sure our grill(烤架) is ready and its tank is full, and we purchase food that can be easily
prepared and then cooked or heated on the grill. And we don't forget to buy emergency chocolate! We have book
lights to read in the dark. We keep our car gas tanks full and have emergency cash on hand.”
第四段中提到“but we wouldn't have learned to do all those things if we hadn't encountered a
storm in the past.”以及“They can teach us some valuable lessons.”,作者认为如果以前没有经历过暴风雨,就不
故选 A。
作者最后一段提到“Now is the time to get ready. . . not when the storm arrives.”,作者认为现
On a trip to the forests of southern India, amateur photographer Kaushik Vijayan was shocked to see some
massive rodents(啮齿动物),who are maroon(紫褐色),leaping from treetop to treetop.
Vijayan uploaded the images of the four-pound rodents to Instagram, and the Internet went crazy immediately.
Some had a difficult time believing that the squirrels, photographed in the Pathanamthitta District of Kerala,
actually exist, thanks to the animals' bright spots of black and maroon.
But the Indian giant(巨大的)squirrel, also known as the Malabar giant squirrel, is the real deal. Believe it or
not, it is not alone. There are three other giants in the squirrel family, Sciuridae-each of which weighs in at two to
three times the size of the gray squirrels native to the eastern United States.
"The four species that make up this group are fascinating in their large size, brilliant coloration, and tendency
for feeding on some of the massive tropical fruits on the trees, "says Koprowski.
Even among its relatives, the Indian giant squirrel stands out with its bright colors, which makes one wonder
why its evolution would select fur. That would call so much attention to itself. After all, these forests are also home
to predators such as lion-tailed macaques, leopards, and crested serpent eagles-all of which have been known to
hunt rodents.
No one knows for sure, says Koprowski, but the squirrel's purple patterns may serve as a way to hide the
animal itself. This is because the broadleaf forests these squirrels inhabit create a pattern of sun spots and shaded
areas-not unlike the rodents' markings.
In other words, what looks flashy and fun to us in an Instagram post may make the squirrels disappear when
hungry mouths come to hunt. Now that's a common trick.
28.How did people feel after seeing the Malabar giant squirrel's images?
A.Nervous. B.Incredible. C.Embarrassed. D.Sorrowful.
29.What makes the Malabar giant squirrel different from the rest?
A.Its size. B.Its habitat. C.Its color. D.Its lifestyle.
30.Why does the Malabar giant squirrel have unusual fur?
A.To show itself off.
B.To protect itself.
C.To drive other animals away.
D.To compete with its companions.
31.Which of the following may be a potential threat to the Malabar giant squirrel?
A.Human beings.
B.Rodents' hunting.
C.The Instagram post.
D.The broadleaf forests.
【答案】28.B29.C30.B31.A
Some had a difficult time believing that the squirrels, photographed in the
Pathanamthitta District of Kerala, actually exist, thanks to the animals' bright spots of black and maroon.”(照片拍
But the Indian giant squirrel, also known as the Malabar giant squirrel, is the real
deal. Believe it or not, it is not alone. There are three other giants in the squirrel family, Sciuridae-each of which
weighs in at two to three times the size of the gray squirrels native to the eastern United States.”(除了印度大松鼠,
再根据第五段“Even among its relatives, the Indian giant squirrel stands out with
its bright colors, which makes one wonder why its evolution would select fur.”(即使在它的近亲中,印度大松鼠
Even among its relatives, the Indian giant squirrel stands out with its bright colors,
which makes one wonder why its evolution would select fur.”(即使在它的近亲中,印度大松鼠也以其鲜艳的颜

Koprowski, but the squirrel's purple patterns may serve as a way to hide the animal itself.”(Koprowski
In other words, what looks flashy and fun to us in an Instagram post may make
the squirrels disappear when hungry mouths come to hunt. Now that's a common trick.”(换句话说,在 Instagram

China successfully sent the 52nd and 53rd satellites of its domestically developed BeiDou Navigation
Satellite System (BDS)-the last two medium Earth orbit (MEO) satellites for the BDS-3 constellation(星座)
-into space on Monday, marking the completion of the global navigation system's core constellation deployment
(部署)and this year's BDS satellite launch campaign.
Launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Center, Sichuan Province, on board a Long March-3B carrier rocket
with an Expedition-1 upper stage, the two satellites were injected into planned orbits after more than three hours'
flight.
Since the first BDS-3 satellite was launched on November 5, 2017, China has conducted 18 BDS satellite
launch missions, successfully sending 30 into their planned orbit, setting a national record for highest mission
frequency and success rate.
In-orbit tests will be carried out before the two MEO satellites are commissioned(正式委托).By then the core
constellation for the Chinese global navigation satellite system will be successfully completed.
Wang Ping, chief designer of the BDS-3 system, said that the hybrid constellation design, in which three
groups of satellites-the Inclined Geo Synchronous Orbit (IGSO), MEO and geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO)
-work in concert in different orbits, was an exclusive BDS innovation and a world first. “Existing global navigation
satellite systems, such as the US GPS and Russia's GLONASS, only have a MEO satellite constellation, ” said
Wang.
The MEO satellites, in orbit 20, 000 kilometers above Earth, are a special type of satellite providing global
service, while the IGSO and GEO satellites, in an orbit 360, 000 kilometers above Earth, mainly enhance regional
service quality, according to Wang. That explained why completion of the MEO constellation was significant,
marking the completion of the core network for BDS-3, meaning a stable BDS-3 global coverage without weak
points has been carried out.
Feedback shows that the BDS service quality was already comparable to GPS since the end of 2018, and after
completing BDS-3, “We will be as good as any GNSS, ” Wang said.
32.How many BDS satellites were sent into their planned·orbit successfully?
A.3. B.5. C.18. D.30.
33.What's the advantage of BDS compared with GPS and GLONASS?
A.The excellent service quality.
B.The diverse functions.
C.The lower cost of designing it.
D.The ability to work in different orbits.
34.Why are the MEO satellites important?
A.They can serve the world.
B.They can enter farther orbits.
C.They can avoid all the weak points.
D.They can be put into use immediately.
35.What may be the best title for the text?
A.Exploring Space Is Very Important to the World
B.The BDS-3 System Has Benefited Many Countries
C.The Core Constellation of BDS-3 Completes Deployment
D.China Becomes the First Country to Launch a MEO Satellite
【答案】32.D33.D34.A35.C
Since the first BDS-3 satellite was launched on November 5, 2017, China has

record for highest mission frequency and success rate.”(自 2017 年 11 月 5 日发射第一颗北斗三号卫星以来,
Wang Ping, chief designer of the BDS-3 system, said that the hybrid constellation
design, in which three groups of satellites-the Inclined Geo Synchronous Orbit (IGSO), MEO and
geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO)-work in concert in different orbits, was an exclusive BDS innovation and a
world first. “Existing global navigation satellite systems, such as the US GPS and Russia's GLONASS, only have a

It's the start of a new year, when your fitness goals are set and you engage in the challenge. 36. Their
standards of “too big” are not even achievable in their lifetime, let alone a few months of training, which brings my
tips.
Set realistic goals! The process of building muscle is an absolutely slow one that requires strong will to gain.
Consistently causing protein synthesis (合成)in specific muscle fibers will allow muscle to develop. However, all
individuals are not equal in the process.37. Gaining muscle will happen quickly to a new gym-goer, but take a
long time for someone that has been training for years.
Stick to specific training for the goals you set to achieve. 38.This will require you to restrict the diet, and it
will prevent you gaining muscle. Diet reflects the training load. The training reflects your goals. It's like swimming
upstream, think strong, fast and flexible. If you are running a marathon, the goals are different and train
accordingly!
39. Fat has taken some time to develop, so it will not be lost overnight. Allow the hormonal triggers (生理
诱因)in the body to work more efficiently to regulate volume of food. Taking out additional sugars is one of the
most important steps to regulate volumes of food to switch off desire for food.
Once a goal is reached, do not go back to what you did before. When people finish their transformation, the
hormone profile is very weak to fat deposition (沉积)。Every training session should be a step toward a lasting
transformation, with a diet improving the level of exercise. 40.
A.Don't try to achieve too much at once.
B.Why do so few people see their goals through?
C.Give yourself a realistic timeline when it comes to fat loss.
D.Keeping running slowly leads to very big changes over time.
E.Appreciate that you are taking time for your own development.
F.Place restrictions on your diet and follow good food eating patterns.
G.Also, it depends on how long you have been training to achieve muscle growth.
【答案】36.B37.G38.A39.C40.F
36.根据上文“It's the start of a new year, when your fitness goals are set and you engage in the challenge.(新的一
Their standards of “too big” are not even achievable in
their lifetime, let alone a few months of training, which brings my tips.(他们过大的标准甚至一生都无法实现,
因此推断 B 项“Why do so few people see their goals through?(为什么很
The process of building muscle is an absolutely slow one that requires strong will to gain.”
Gaining muscle will happen quickly to a new gym-goer, but take a long time for someone that has
been training for years.”
因此推断 G 项“Also, it depends on how long you have been
training to achieve muscle growth.(另外,这取决于你增长肌肉所需要训练的时间)”承上启下,且“how long”
与下句“for years”呼应。故选 G。
38.根据主题句“Stick to specific training for the goals you set to achieve.(要坚持你设定的目标。)”
If you are running a marathon, the goals are different and train accordingly!
A 项“Don't try to
achieve too much at once.(不要指望一下子就能实现)”符合语境。故选 A。
Fat has taken some time to develop, so it will not be lost
overnight.”
因此推断 C 项“Give yourself a realistic timeline when it comes to fat loss.(当提到减肥的时候,
Every training session should be a step toward a lasting transformation, with a diet improving the
项中的“restrictions on your diet”F 和“ good food eating patterns”与此处一致,因此推断 F 项“Place restrictions on
your diet and follow good food eating patterns.(达到健身目标后要防止脂肪回弹,因此还需要控制饮食,遵循

Much like the season itself, the fresh fruits of the summer often don't remain long as we want them
to. All too often, you reach into the fridge and find that the strawberries you purchased just a few days
ago have turned moldy (发霉的). 16
Vinegar has an extensive and ever-increasing list of household uses. Because it is non-poisonous, unli
ke other washes, it can be used to clean fresh fruits. 17 Putting the fruit in the mi
xture of one part vinegar and three parts water can remove 98 percent of bacteria. It will make the fruit
much cleaner than it was when washed with an antibacterial wash or with water alone. 18
By following the same process, you can prevent the growth of mold for far longer than if you have
n't washed them with the mixture. But be careful: this trick doesn't kill any mold that has already grow
n. 19 Besides, try to make the strawberries as dry as possible before storing them i
n the fridge. You can pat them dry with paper towel, and then pack them away in a clean container.
20 Actually, there is a simple solution to your concern. A thorough wash with
plain water afterward will ensure there are no unwanted tastes left.
A.So make sure you do it before they go bad.
B.Yet, many washes can keep them fresh longer.
C.You may worry your berries will taste like vinegar.
D.So you may not really need those pricey washes at all.
E.It is even more effective in cleaning fruits than most washes.
F.You'd better use vinegar to wash the berries before enjoying them.
G.A new trick, however, can greatly expand their shelf life using vinegar.
【答案】16.G17.E18.D19.A20.C
16.根据空格前句子“you reach into the fridge and find that the strawberries you purchased just a few day
Vinegar has an extensive and ever-increasing list of household uses. Because it is n
on-poisonous, unlike other washes, it can be used to clean fresh fruits.”(在家务使用方面醋有广泛的用途,
与 E 选项中的“It is even more effective in cleaning fruits than most washes”(它在洗水果方面甚至比其它
It will make the fruit much cleaner than it was when washed with an antibacterial wa
sh or with water alone.”(如果与抗菌液或单独与水一起使用,醋能使水果洗得更干净)可知,“So you ma
y not really need those pricey washes at all.”(你根本没必要买那些价格昂贵的其他的清洁液),D 项符合
故选 D 项。
19.根据空格前句子“this trick doesn't kill any mold that has already grown.”(这个办法不能洗掉那些已经
长出来的霉菌)可知,A 项“So make sure you do it before they go bad.”(所以要确保在草莓变质变坏前,
故选 A 项。
A thorough wash with plain water afterward will ensure there are no unwanted tastes le
berries will taste like vinegar.”(你会担忧草莓会有醋的味道)是本段的中心句,符合逻辑。

Guilt is one of the most painful emotions that humans experience but also one of the most common. Nobody
enjoys feeling guilty, but this emotion serves an important purpose: it alerts a person when he or she has done
something wrong. This enables the person to make amends and work to heal relationships that were damaged by
their actions. 36.
Nevertheless, guilt can be destructive if it is not dealt with in the right way. It can cause people to avoid others
because they are too embarrassed to apologize for their actions or inaction. Some try to avoid the pain of guilt by
turning to other worse habits. 37.
The proper response to guilt depends on what kind of guilt you're dealing with. For false guilt, it’s important to
recognize that the guilt does not reflect an actual ethical failure.
For example, some false guilt focuses on failing to meet expectations you had for yourself. 38. No one is
perfect, and no one can do everything, so admitting your limits is actually a sign of humility.
39. Even when you don’t need to feel guilty, these feelings are real and normal. Try to balance them with
positive thoughts, but realize that it often takes time for feelings to change.
40. If so, don’t try to conceal it. Apologize and ask for forgiveness. Learn from your mistakes, and try to
avoid committing the same acts again. Getting on well with the person you hurt should make your guilty feelings
fade.
Guilt is painful, but it can serve a good purpose if you use it well.
A.Other people experience false guilt because of high expectations for themselves.
B.It’s possible that you feel guilty because you actually did something wrong.
C.Others try to cover up their guilt by blaming others or becoming angry.
D.It can also motivate people to avoid making similar mistakes later.
E.In this case, it’s important to remind yourself that you have limits.
F.Moreover, guilt can result in physical and mental discomforts meanwhile.
G.It’s also important to acknowledge what you are feeling.
【答案】36.D37.C38.E39.G40.B

Guilt is one of the most painful emotions that humans experience but also one of the most common.
Nobody enjoys feeling guilty, but this emotion serves an important purpose: it alerts a person when he or she has
done something wrong. This enables the person to make amends and work to heal relationships that were damaged
by their actions.
Nevertheless, guilt can be destructive if it is not dealt with in the right way. It can cause people to
avoid others because they are too embarrassed to apologize for their actions or inaction. Some try to avoid the pain
of guilt by turning to other worse habits.(然而,如果处理不当,内疚是毁灭性的。
38.根据上文“For example, some false guilt focuses on failing to meet expectations you had for yourself.(例如,
No one is perfect, and no one can do everything,
so admitting your limits is actually a sign of humility.(没有人是完美的,也没有人可以做所有的事,所以承认自
后文中 admitting your
limits 对应到 E 选项中 you have limits。
Even when you don’t need to feel guilty, these feelings are real and normal. Try to balance them with
positive thoughts, but realize that it often takes time for feelings to change.(即使你不需要感到内疚,这些感觉是
了如何处理自己的感受,后文中 these feelings 对应到 G 选项中 what you are feeling。
If so, don’t try to conceal it. Apologize and ask for forgiveness. Learn from your mistakes, and try to
avoid committing the same acts again. Getting on well with the person you hurt should make your guilty feelings
B 选项中 did something wrong 与后文中 your mistakes 相对应。

In 1993, Swedish psychologist K. Anders Ericsson set out to find the secret to turning a typical teen into a
violin virtuoso. His answer 16.The figure was called "the magic number of greatness" by journalist and author
Malcolm Gladwell in his 2008 book Outliers.
The concept of “practice makes perfect" has been rooted into the heads of ambitious youths since the Roman
Empire. 17. But can it be that simple? Not every expert agrees. While training is essential to learning, spending a
lot of time practicing something over and over doesn't mean you'll go professional, says Zach Hambrick, a
psychologist at Michigan State University.
18.In reviewing different studies about the role of practice in music, games, sports, education, and
professional and success, Hambrick found that practice time accounted for only about one-quarter of any difference
in skill level. Other factors-like age, intelligence, and natural gifts-all played big roles in setting apart the better
from the best.
19.Height might be useful for a basketball star, and a wide vocal range could help you win a place in the
chorus. And no amount of practice will make you taller or able to hit notes across every octave. 20.
Of course this doesn't mean we should all quit practicing, Hambrick says. Nobody pops out of the womb
knowing how to dance or plot a sneaky checkmate. But perfection in 10,000 hours? There's no guarantee.
A.Never too old to practise.
B.Practice: 10,000 hours of it.
C.Genes in particular shape physical and intellectual ability.
D.Large amounts of piano playing will not make your fingers grow longer.
E. Top sportsmen and musicians have all put in this amount of hard work.
F. So anyone can be a Yo-Yo Ma as long as they devote enough time to practising.
G. Being great isn't just about work quantity but also about the workers themselves.

The figure。

of time practicing 可与 F 选项中 devote enough time to practising 对应。
In reviewing different studies about the role of practice in music, games, sports, education, and
professional and success, Hambrick found that practice time accounted for only about one-quarter of any difference
in skill level. Other factors-like age, intelligence, and natural gifts-all played big roles in setting apart the better
Height might be useful for a basketball star, and a wide vocal range could help you win a place in the
chorus. And no amount of practice will make you taller or able to hit notes across every octave.(身高对篮球明星
Height might be useful for a basketball star, and a wide vocal range could help you win a place in the
chorus. And no amount of practice will make you taller or able to hit notes across every octave.(身高对篮球明星
A dog snoring away the afternoon on the living room floor. Walruses napping belly-up on a beach. Lions
stretching out on the grassland. These sleepy scenes may make people wonder why these other mammals(哺乳动
物)seem to be getting so much more sleep than humans. Do they actually need more sleep? Are they just sleeping
because they can? 36. Be prepared for a surprising and fascinating answer to these questions:
37.
Though constantly studied, sleep is one of the great mysteries modern science hasn’t completely cracked. “We
really don’t know what sleep is for,” said Dr. David Raizen.
38.Across many studies of mammalian sleep, scientists have observed that less sleep is connected with larger
body sizes. A reason for this may be that the larger an animal is, the more calories it needs, and the more time it
needs to spend eating.
However, the matter is far from settled. 39. Some differences in observed sleep might not be what they seem.
Just because a house cat sleeps for 18 hours a day doesn’t mean it needs all that sleep to function, Raizen said.
Some sleep is probably a matter of convenience — done when it’s not safe for an animal to be out, when food
availability is low or simply because there’s nothing else to do.
As for human sleep? Raizen said the most important thing is for people to listen to their bodies and get as
much sleep as they feel they need. 40.
A.Nobody knows.
B.Should humans be sleeping more, too?
C.More efforts are being put in interpreting sleep better.
D.Scientists are doing research trying to find the answer.
E. Sleep is complex, hard to measure in wild animals and even harder to interpret.
F. One idea is that sleep in mammals has something to do with body size and diet.
G. It is about eight hours for most folks but might be as few as five and as many as eleven.
【答案】36.B37.D38.F39.E40.G
36.根据上文“Do they actually need more sleep? Are they just sleeping because they can?”(它们真的需要更多
Be prepared for a surprising and fascinating answer to these
Should humans be sleeping more, too?( 人类也应该多睡点吗?)
Be prepared for a surprising and fascinating answer to
these questions:(对这些问题惊人的答案做好准备吧。)”
D. Scientists are doing research trying to find the answer.( 科学家们正在研究,试图找到答案。)
根据下文“scientists have observed that less sleep is connected
with larger body sizes. A reason for this may be that the larger an animal is, the more calories it needs, and the more
time it needs to spend eating.(科学家观察到睡眠不足与体型增大有关。
39.根据上文“However, the matter is far from settled.(然而,这个问题还远远没有解决。)”及下文“Some
differences in observed sleep might not be what they seem.(观察到的睡眠中的一些差异可能并不像它们看起来
E.Sleep is complex, hard to measure
in wild animals and even harder to interpret.(睡眠是复杂的,很难在野生动物身上测量,甚至更难解释。)符合
语境。故选 E。
Raizen said
the most important thing is for people to listen to their bodies and get as much sleep as they feel they need.(Raizen
G. It is about
eight hours for most folks but might be as few as five and as many as eleven.( 对于大多数人来说,这个时间大约
