When I was four years old,I got stung(刺痛) by a bee twice in one week! After that,I had a
fear of bees. When I saw bees or heard any sound from bees,I fled away immediately. That was
why my parents suggested that I learn about bees instead of being frightened.I went to libraries to
borrow some books about bees, and I tried to watch videos about bees, though I didn’t like them
at first. And gradually,I was interested in what I read and watched.I learnt that bees could help
make the food we ate because of their pollination(传授花粉).Take pizza, for example. If we
didn’t have bees to pollinate(给……授粉) tomato plants,we wouldn’t have tomatoes for
sauce.And we wouldn’t have cheese without pollination,either.
But , at the same time , I learnt some bad news. One was that bees were struggling to
survive. Many were dying. Some scientists thought it might be because of the chemicals that were
used to kill other insects. What would happen if there were no more bees ? I wanted to help.I
thought,“What if I make lemonade, sell it,and raise money and donate it to groups who are
saving bees ? ” I talked to my grandmother , Helen. She was a good cook and she was
supportive(支持的) when she knew what my plan was.She gave me her recipe for lemonade. It
came from a cookbook from 1940.She had used it herself for more than 50 years. She always made
lemonade for us when we visited her at weekends. And we all liked it.Most importantly , she
promised to help me make it.
Paragraph 1:
My parttime job as a cook started immediately.
Paragraph 2:
My dad showed me how to improve my sales.
参考范文
My parttime job as a cook started immediately.Every weekend I went to my grandma’s
house to put my plan into action. Then gradually I could make lemonade well.Besides,an idea
occurred to me.I added honey to her old recipe. That way,I could sell the lemonade and donate
some of the money to groups that were helping to save bees.I could also support local beekeepers
by using their honey in my product. And I could educate others on the importance of bees and help
to save them.
My dad showed me how to improve my sales. At first,I sold lemonade at a stand(摊位)at a
kids’ park. But I wanted to help bees all year round. Then my father took me to a pizza place near
where I lived. They promised to sell it.Later, more stores agreed to sell it,too. To my delight,we
sold lots of bottles in a year, raised lots of money and saved more bees.I felt proud of that.

Laurie sat quietly in the empty dressing room at the iceskating rink(溜冰场).She had not
been skating in any competition since her left knee was badly injured in an accident six months
ago.As she waited for her turn to skate,Laurie was very nervous. She knew that today was a very
important day in her comeback.
“If I can win today,” she thought,“I can skate in the World Cup next year and then
maybe I can make it to the Olympics.”
Laurie was just told that she had a tough competition this year , a girl from Connecticut
named Jinny Jordan who was really strong in everything.“She is the one you have to beat this
year.” the coach said.
Minutes later, the door opened and Laurie saw a young woman who was about her own
age.The young woman dumped some of her belongings onto a chair. The bag fell to the floor with
a thud(砰的一声).
Laurie felt uncomfortable as she looked at Jinny.“So this is my competition,” thought
Laurie.“Because of her,I may lose tonight.”
“This costume(服装) was my mom’s idea,” Jinny started the conversation, looking
down at her red white, and blue skating dress.“I look like a flag.”
Laurie couldn’t keep from smiling. She pointed to Jinny’s skating bag.“Some stuff fell
out of your bag,” Laurie said.
Jinny looked at the clothing and equipment that lay scattered on the floor. As she began to
gather her belongings,the door opened.
“Jinny,” called someone,“You’d better give the tape of your music to the sound
engineer right away.”
“I thought I gave him my music tape an hour ago.” said Jinny.“Tell him it’s the green
box with my initials(姓名的首字母) written in white in the righthand corner.”
“He said you never gave it to him and he’s getting angry.”
“Then I don’t know what I did with it,” said Jinny, hurrying out.
Laurie knew that music was nearly as important to the program as skating itself. If she lost her
music tape, she might as well forget about skating.Laurie stood up and walked to the chair to do a
few more knee bends.
Paragraph 1:
Suddenly she saw something small and dark green behind the leg of the dressing table.
Paragraph 2:
Feeling relieved,Laurie skated quickly to the center of the rink after the announcer finally
called her name.

Suddenly she saw something small and dark green behind the leg of the dressing table. She
pulled it out,and saw the white initials J.J.in the top righthand corner.“It’s Jinny’s music
tape!” She exclaimed.Laurie’s heart started beating fast.“All I’d have to do is forget that I
found this,” she thought.“If Jinny doesn’t have her music, she might as well not skate. And
then I would win.” Laurie shivered slightly as she thought about this. Then she wondered ,
“Does winning mean so much to me that I’d be willing to cheat for it?” She walked to the
door and called Jinny loudly.
Feeling relieved,Laurie skated quickly to the center of the rink after the announcer finally
called her name. The music filled the stadium and she skated gracefully and beautifully. Her left
knee was fine and she felt herself gliding on the ice.The audience applauded from time to time,
enthusiastically supporting her in her comeback. When she finished, her coach ran up to her and
hugged her.“You did it,Laurie!” She said.Laurie smiled and thought about Jinny’s music
tape.“No one will ever know how close I really came to losing.” She said softly to herself.
