groceries has been pletely transformed. For seniors, this task is even more
challenging. Concordia University's ACT project team has joined with munity partners
in the neighbourhood to fill this gap. They've rapidly created a new program—COVID

－19 Grocery Response NDG.
The program uses a model that pairs volunteers with seniors, based on availability
and language. Those volunteers are trained by ACT's team via video conferencing and
then given a list of older adults. The volunteer calls the individuals and takes their
order, working with grocery offerings of a Provigo store in the areA． When the call is
over, the order gets sent to Provigo, which gathers and delivers the order to the
senior. It won't take the place of the work of the food bank; seniors are paying for
their groceries.
There is also an important social element in the call, which doubles as a friendly check
－in. The volunteer chats a bit with the senior, who may be very lonely and anxious.
One volunteer says it has also been a rewarding experience and gives her the
opportunity to help others while staying at home, which they are all being
encouraged to do.
The program is a response to a number of factors, including the fact that many older
adults are on a fixed ine and may not have the Internet access needed to order
groceries online. It is targeting seniors who aren't able to access New Hope's usual
meals on wheels service.
So far the project is a success, with a growing number of volunteers and seniors. As
for what's next, Concordia is optimistic but acknowledges that the team will need to
be nimble to acmodate the changing realities of the COVID－19 pandemic. We
are at a critical time and we need to do everything we can, together, to help out.

hiring managers will face this difficult situation many times in their careers. While
everyone fears denials on some level, it is important to understand that not everyone
will fit in with every job. Further, there are times when the applicant quality will be so
great, a decision to reject an applicant may not stand for that applicant's abilities but
the overall quality of the field.
There are a number of methods that can be used to get the message across that a
person is not hired. In many cases, especially for those who have never been called
for an interview, a simple form letter may be sufficient. In other cases, where
someone may have been called for an interview, a phone call or letter could be
chosen to deliver the message that they were not hired. In cases where there may be
an ongoing relationship with the person not hired, it may be best to break the news
in person, though this has the obvious potential of being more unfortable. Above all,
it is best to always be honest with those who didn't get the job. Lying is never
acceptable.
Generally, it is not a good idea to tell someone specific reasons why they are not hired
for a job. This can only lead to resentment (怨恨) and regret. However, there may be
specific times when this could be a good ideA ． For example, if an applicant is
promising and the hiring manager believes another position will be opening up that
suits the applicant's skills, this could be a way to let that person know they may soon
have another opportunity.
In all cases, even if you feel someone has cheated to obtain an interview, never
behave in a way which shows you are superior to them. This is unprofessional and
reflects very poorly not only on the hiring manager, but on the organization as a
whole.

coloured area of the dots at the same time.
It is not entirely surprising that bears should have a high degree of intelligence. They
face a lot of challenges when trying to get food. They are, however, always alone, and
so do not have the plex social systems that contribute to animal smarts. Perhaps, then,
their maths skill developed because they cannot count on their friends for help.
