Subject
In English and Wales the subject taught in schools are laid down by the National Curriculum(课程)，which was introduced in 1988 and sets out (制定) detail the subject that children should study and the levels of achievement they should reach by the age of 7,11,14 and 16,when they are tested .The National Curriculum does not apply in Scotland, where each school decides what subject it will teach.

In the United States , most children begin attending school when they are five years old . Public education is free and most children go to schools near their homes . Last week ,all the teachers and students of our schools watched a special performance by some disabled people .
First was a dance named “The Light of Life”. There were three young women who had lost one of their legs and several deaf-mutes(聋哑人) among the dancers . As they held out their arms to greet the light of life, I could see how they have had both been burnt off in a big fire .I could see how they have had to struggle against many difficulties .During the dance I could see how alive their minds were.
The singer came next shocked us all. The singer was very young , but his hands had both been burnt off in a big fire. I dared not look at his wrists too closely .All I could do was listen to his song quietly.
It was called “Late Autumn” and he sang with a low gently voice. Though in fact it was warm spring, I felt a bit chilled(寒冷的) and sentimental(多愁善感的) to hear the song, as if it was late autumn .”How much love and gloom is hidden in the heart? I want to hold your hand again.”
When I heard this , tears rolled down my face. He had lost not only his hands, but also the chance to hold a girl’s hand . I hope he finds a lovely girl one day for company ,though he can’t hold her hand.

Students all over the world have to work for their education. A college education in the United States is expensive .The costs are so high that most families begin to save for their children’s
