And you also don’t know what it’s like for older people to travel until you accompany one on a trip.‎ ‎ After flying with my elderly father from Washington, D.C.‎, to L.A.‎ in July, I began to realize that a companion has important tasks that can make a journey easier for older people. I booked nonstop tickets on JetBlue to avoid tiring, confusing connections, and we flew directly into small, manageable Long Beach‎ ‎Airport. Even though my father could walk, I arranged with the airline for wheelchair assistance, which meant we got on board first.‎ ‎ When I took him back to the airport for his return flight to Washington, I got permission from JetBlue to wait with him at the gate instead of saying goodbye at the security checkpoint. I wished he’d had a first-class seat and access to a comfortable airline club. Better yet, I wish I had flown with him both ways. As I watched the attendant wheel him to the lift that took him from the tarmac(飞机跑道)to the plane, I felt like an anxious mom sending her child to school for the first time.‎ ‎ Things can go awry on a plane trip. And then there is the horrifying story about Joe and Margie. When they landed at Dallas-Fort‎ Worth International ‎Airport, a wheelchair attendant met them to help with a connection. But somehow Margie, who had Alzheimer’s disease, disappeared.‎ ‎ I didn’t need to worry about my father wandering away; at 82, his mind was sharper than mine. Then, one day,the children finally managed to persuade their parents to get them a puppy as well. And so a cute little Labrador made his entrance. ‎ ‎ Everyone loved the puppy. However, the cat made it very clear she did not appreciate another pet in the house. She hissed(发出嘶嘶声)and tried to scratch the little puppy—but the puppy just loved the cat anyway. No amount of bad behavior from the cat could persuade the puppy not to love the cat. The family figured the cat would never like the dog. ‎ ‎ A few weeks passed. Then one day they heard horrible screaming from their back yard. They ran to the window to see what was happening. It took a while for them to believe their eyes. A lynx(猞猁)was on their back yard and it was just planning on ‎ grabbing their cat for lunch. The poor cat had no chance—it was screaming but had nowhere to run or hide. It would only be a matter of seconds and their cat would be dead. And then the unimaginable happened. Out of nowhere a black lightning ran to the rescue. The little Labrador was only half grown but it attacked the lynx with all its might. It was barking on top of its lungs, ready to bite the other to bits. The lynx decided it was time to go and disappeared into the woods. ‎ ‎ And ever since that day the cat’s behavior toward the dog changed totally. But they feel that there are a lot of good things happening that aren’t being reported on.‎ Three thousand copies of The Champion have been printed, and will be going free into the letterbox of every house in the area. “I think they are hoping people will be pleasantly surprised,” said Kelleher.‎ The concept came from a small number of people, but in the end it took the work of at least 50 people to complete the whole project.‎ They contacted youth clubs, schools, and other groups to find out what positive news they had to share.‎ The Champion also serves to promote youth work, which Sarah says “is a very low-cost service to run, but it can have an absolutely amazing impact for young people in a community like this”. She added that cuts can have an impact on youth work, and that “the more you keep young people in youth work, the more things like this they produce”.‎ ‎32. Why did the teens start the newspaper?‎ A. To promote youth work. ‎ B. To promote positive news.‎ C. To free teens from reading. ‎ D. To compete with other newspapers.‎ ‎33. What is special of the newspaper?‎ A. It is meant for young readers. ‎ B. It sells thousands of copies a day.‎ C. It focuses on teens’ good deeds. ‎ D. It covers positive news of adults.‎ ‎34. What can we know about the teens who start the newspaper?‎ A. They get news from many sources.‎ B. They care little about social issues.‎ C. They prefer to write astonishing news.‎ D. However, it's worth keeping in mind that one part of growing as a person requires you to accept that life is constantly changing. We might lose our jobs, lose our loved ones, or experience other life changing things. 36 ‎ First of all, you should understand that change is an unavoidable part of life. Before the time comes for you to accept change, learn that it is necessary for old things to go and new things to come. 37 The entire history of the world and the ‎ history of human progress are decided by change and development.‎ ‎38 Even though change can have a negative effect on your life, in most cases, there is always something positive to look at. Use this as an opportunity to turn a loss or negative change into an opportunity.‎ Last of all, try to understand why the change upsets you so much. It’s hard to change and accept it if you are unclear about why it makes you so uncomfortable or unsettled. 39 This, as a result, might help stop some of your anxiety about change. Consider the following: 40 Does the change make you feel like everything you know about the world is falling apart? Does breaking up with a significant other make you feel as if you’re too emotionally fragile and lacking a support system?‎ A. Find chances to accept changes.‎ B. You must learn to look on the bright side as well. ‎ C. Think about it and you might understand it finally. ‎ D. Does social change give you a feeling of uncertainty?‎ E.
