My name is Elias. I am a poor black worker in South Africa. The time when I first met Nelson Mandela was a very difficult period of my life. I was twelve years old. It was in 1952 and Mandela was the black lawyer to whom I went for advice. He offered guidance to poor black people on their legal problems. He was generous with his time, for which I was grateful.
I needed his help because I had very little education. I began school at six. The school where I studied for only two years was three kilometers away. I had to leave because my family could not continue to pay the school fees and the bus fare. I could not read or write well. After trying hard, I got a job in a gold mine. However, this was a time when one had got to have a passbook to live in Johannesburg. Sadly I did not have it because I was not born there, and I worried about whether I would become out of work.

Kate: Today we talk about Interpersonal Relationship: How to Improve Interpersonal Relationship?
Simon: In my opinion, first we should respect others, as an old saying goes: If you want others to respect you, you need to respect others first.
Kate: Eh, that' s right.
Simon: And I think it' s the first step to build up relationship with others.
1. What will happen if we don't respect others?
If you don't respect others, your friends will never be in contact with you, and naturally you will have no friends.
2. What' s the second step to build up a good interpersonal relationship?
Eh, and we shouldn't be selfish. If we are selfish we can not make a true friend. In fact true friends are not measured by what is obtained. Give more and you will get something unexpected.
3. Are there any other ways to build up a better interpersonal relationship?
Yes, it' s not easy to make good friends with others, we must pay more attention to interpersonal relationship, including attending to each other, caring for each other, helping each other.

The Young Thief and His Mother
Long ago, there were mother and son living in a house. She worked hard everyday, but they were always poor.
One day, her son stole his friend's bag. "Morn, what do you think of this bag?" His mother praised her son rather than scolding him. "It looks great!"
The next time, he stole an overcoat. She praised him again when he stole it.
A few years later, he grew up to be a young man. He stole jewelry and brought them to his mother. "How beautiful!" This time, she did not scold her son again.
Then, because he was encouraged by his mother, he started to steal more expensive things. One day, the police caught him. Before putting him in jail, he begged the police to meet his mother. They took him to his mother.
As soon as he saw his mother, he bit her earlobe. "Ouch! What's the matter with you?" She finally scolded him. Her son answered. "If you had given me a scolding like that when I stole the first bag, I could not have become a thief."
She collapsed as she looked at her son heading to prison. "If only I could tum back time, I would scold him severely."
She regretted that she always praised him, whatever he did.
