Miss Wu is a young teacher of English in China. She loves teaching very much. One day when she was giving an English lesson, she found the headmaster sitting at the back of the classroom. After class, the headmaster told her that he came to her class to find out how much English and how much Chinese she was using. The result was about half English and half Chinese. She was using Chinese when she gave instructions(说明、指令) to her students and when she wanted to get feedback(反馈)from her students. The headmaster told her that she should use more English in her class.
Miss Wu made a plan like this: firstly, talk with an Englishman every Sunday for two hours to learn more English expressions(表达); secondly, write some English expressions on cards. These cards not only remind her to use English in class, but also help her remember some expressions; thirdly, have a five-minute talk in English with students before class. She used body language to help her if students could not understand.
One year later, she found she could use English freely in class.

These days, I’m surprised at what my classmates have changed since school started. It’s not just the new teachers, new buildings, or new rules. I also notice how people are dressing differently. Dressing is not just a choice to keep warm. It’s also a healthy personal choice in so many ways.
Dress rules: Many schools have dress rules. They tell students what to wear at school. The teachers don’t hope to see their students wear unsuitable clothes in the classroom.
Self-respect: The way we dress shows the way we feel about ourselves. If we aren’t confident or need lots of attention, we’ll often dress in ways that help us get that attention. If you want to get attention in a healthy way, you don’t need to dress in an interesting way to express your mind.
Body image(形象): If some kids look very bad or ugly, dressing properly(正确地) can cover them. And it can also help them feel beautiful and comfortable among their friends.
Being what you wear: Dressing is important. Dressing in a wrong way can make people
mistake(误解)you. People like to judge according to what they see. Clothing can often give people a wrong idea.
58. The writer feels very ____________ because of the way his classmates dress these days.
A. happy B. surprised C. angry D. sad
59. The writer thinks that how a person dresses _______.
A. isn’t just a choice to keep warm B. can’t express his or her mind
C. is giving people the wrong idea D. can’t get other people’s attention
60. The underlined word “Self-respect” means “ ” in Chinese in the passage.
A. 贬低 B. 自嘲 C. 自尊 D. 伤感
61. The writer suggests that students should wear clothes in the right way .
A. to help them feel comfortable B. to become famous
C. to cover their bad habits D. to avoid(避免) being mistaken
D
There are many things we need to know that we do not learn at school. For example, if we want to use our money wisely(智慧地), we need to shop carefully. We need to know how to compare the prices of the thing in different shops. We need to be able to compare the quality of different brands(品牌). We need to know how to make a choice(选择) when we shop.
Knowing how to make such choices is a “life skill”, and we need these skills if we want to live useful and happy lives.
Some of these choices are small. For example, will I take an apple for lunch or a pear? Will I go to school by bus or on foot? Will I wear the red T-shirt or the blue one to the movies? Other choices are more important. For example, will I eat healthy food for lunch or will I eat junk food because it is nicer? Will I work hard in all my classes or will I only work hard in the classes I enjoy? We make choices like this every day.
We have to realize that the choices we make can affect(影响) the rest of our lives. Just as importantly, our choices can also affect other people. The next time you decide to waste time in class, play a joke on someone or talk loudly at the movies, think about this: Who else does your choice affect?
62.This passage mainly tells us that it’s important to _____________.
A. make the right choices B. know how to compare prices
C. know how to shop carefully D. learn everything at school
63. We need “life skills” if we want to ____________.
A. know how to choose a part-time job
B. compare brands and prices
C. live useful and happy lives
D. learn things at school
64. Which choice is more important according to the passage?
A. Which fruit to take for lunch.
B. Which kind of food to eat, healthy food or junk food?
C. Which T-shirt to wear to the movies.
D. How to get to school.
65. From the passage we know that our choices can affect _____________________________.
A. nobody B. the people around us
C. just ourselves D. the prices of the things
