Everyone wishes for a long and healthy life. However, not many of us will reach to live 100 years old. According to a report by the Gerontological Society of China (中国老年学学会) said on Oct. 21, there are now a total of 58,789 centenarians (百岁老人) living in China. The oldest is 128 years old.
Three-quarters of the centenarians are women, and most of them live in rural areas, the society said. The provinces of Hainan, Anhui and Guangxi have the most centenarians. This is because of their good environment.
Hainan was declared a World Longevity (长寿) Island by the International Expert Committee on Population Aging and Longevity last month. There are more than 1,900 centenarians on the island.

A famous study was done in a school by a professor (教授) from a university. At the start of the school year, the teachers were given the names of five children.
