It's common for interviewees(被 面试者)to prepare answers before the exam but there are things that you should avoid doing. Usually you can guess the kind of topics that you might be asked to talk about in the IELTS interview. This means that it is quite common for interviewees to prepare answers in advance(提 前)and learn them by heart. However, there are several problems that one has to take notice of with this method. Firstly, it is usually very clear that an answer has been memorized(记住)as it sounds very unnatural to the examiner(考官).Examiners have a lot of experience interviewing people and they can easily see when something isn't quite right. If they think that the answer has been memorized, they will probably stop your answer and move on to another question. Secondly, if you have memorized an answer, most probably you won't answer the question directly(直接地)when recalling. This will make the examiner think that something isn't quite right. In short, you should avoid trying to memorize answers, but you can still prepare for the interview by thinking about possible topics and making sure you have the words and language to talk about the topics in general. 56. To an examiner, a memorized answer . A. is quite right B. sounds interesting C. can get a better result D. isn't very natural 57. The writer believes that a memorized answer . A. to think about possible topics in general B. not to guess the possible topics C. to memorize answers in advance D. not to prepare for the interview D We all know that animals are better at some things than humans, and we can usually explain why animals can do some things better than us. One of the natural abilities many animals have is their homing instinct, which can help them find their homes. These animals such as pigeons(鸽 子),bees, frogs and cats are able to find their way home, sometimes making journeys of hundreds of kilometers back home. In our daily life, humans can make use of an animal's homing instinct. Pigeons, for examples, have been used to send information or carry letters in times of war. Today some people train their pigeons and take part in pigeon races as a hobby. There are many interesting stories of the homing instinct at work. In the USA a cat traveled 1,360 kilometers back to its old home after the owners moved, taking nearly a year over the journey. When we lose our kitten, we usually find her again near the house where she was born. We have a pool in the garden where the frogs come back every year. I even heard a dog which was hurt by a car managed to take itself to the house! There are other wonderful stories about the homing instinct. But how do these animals find their way home? They can't read maps and, as we know, they can't ask each other for directions. It seems that some animals use their sense of smell to take them back to the place where they were born. Other animals such as birds and bees may use the sun, the stars and the moon to help them find their way. Scientists believe that some animals have special things in their brain which help them to find their way. As for cats, nobody really knows how their homing instinct works and I am sure cats are never going to tell us their secrets. 59. What does the underlined word "instinct" in Paragraph 1 mean? A. Animal behaviour. B. Better things. C. The secret of animals. D. Natural ability. 60. How might some animals find their way home? A. By remembering where they live. B. All the animals can go back home from far-away places. B. Humans use animals' homing instinct to work for them. C. Humans have better homing instinct than animals. D. It is often considered only as fun, but not the first choice for education. In fact, music education is necessary and important for all students. Music tells us who we are. Music shows the creators' thinking and values, as well as the social environment it came from. For example, the jazz influence that George Gershwin and other musicians introduced into their music is obviously American because it came from American musical traditions. Music provides a kind of ability to know the world in a different way. Science explains how the sun rises and sets. Music studies the emotive(情感的)meanings. Music is a form of thought, as powerful as science. It is a way we humans "talk" to each other. Music helps us express our feelings, our discoveries, our ideas and our hopes so that they can be shared with others. When we do not let our children receive good music education, we take away from them the meanings that music expresses. Science does not tell us what it means to be human. Music does. So music education is much more necessary than people generally realize. 78. Where did jazz come from? 79. What's the main idea of the passage? 80. Do you think music is as powerful as science? Why or why not? 七、书面表达(共 1 题;满分 20 分) 假如你是 Lucy,想应聘校报英文版的记者。请根据招聘要求写一封应聘信,说明你能 胜任此职的理由。 An English Reporter Wanted Do you want to be a member of our school's most popular newspaper?
