After shooting to fame as one of the original online fitness experts, Ella Mills—under her nickname Deliciously Ella—was a best-selling author at 24 with more than a million followers on Instagram.
However, in 2011, when she launched her blog featuring plant-based recipes and beautifully shot food, Ella could never have predicted how influential she would become. Her approach to eating inspired a wave of followers, with many promoting the new trend for clean eating.
But then came the strong reaction. With Instagram filled with social media stars selling diets that advised cutting out whole food groups, the clean-eating movement came under fire from health professionals who argued it was unhealthy and could cause eating disorders.
Ella, who follows a plant-based diet, was caught in the crossfire even though. She says it's a term she has never used herself. "Clean eating is never a phrase that I use. I think the term is incredibly confusing. Nobody knows what it means," she says. "To say one thing is clean implies another is dirty. We do need to be healthier as a society but the more we make food a negative conversation, the less we're going to help people."
Ella does, however, urge caution when taking advice from so-called fitness experts online. "It's great that there are loads of recipes and ideas, but you have to be conscious about what you're reading. Are you getting all the facts or just one view?" she says. "Instagram is a platform for inspiration and ideas, but it is not real life. It's something that encourages constant comparison with other people. There's a lot on there that could potentially be damaging if you were in a difficult place with your mental fitness. "
24.What can be learned about Ella Mills from the text?
A.She was a pioneer of healthy eating.
B.She foresaw her great success.
C.She might be skilful at photographing food.
D.She was the best-selling author in 2014.
25.What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.The benefits of Ella Mills' healthy eating.
B.The disapproval of Ella Mills' approach to eating.
C.The introduction to a new eating movement.
D.The positive comments on Ella Mills' recipes.
26.What can be inferred about Ella Mills' recipes?
A.They make some people adjust their diets.
B.They cause a positive conversation on food.
C.They inspire people to be confident.
D.They belong to a typical clean-eating movement.
27.What does Ella Mills think of Instagram?
A.It is filled with cheats.
B.It won't do harm to its users.
C.Its users should develop a thicker skin.
D.Its users should be cautious about its advice.

Australia has some of the world's richest and most diverse rock art. While rock art is found all around the globe, Murujuga rock art in Australia is relatively unique because there are still cultural connections between rock art and the people who created it. Murujuga rock art in Australia meets three standards for outstanding, universal value: the creative talent and skill of the artwork; the extraordinarily old and continuous engraving (雕刻)tradition; and the combined cultural landscapes of the area, including quarries, living sites, and shell middens. These show significant changes in human history, including major ones in sea level and surrounding environment.
When people first started using this landscape 50,000 years ago, it was located around 100 km from the coast. It was wetter and warmer than it is now — and the archaeological (考古的) record of the coastal plain at this time shows an entire group of animals no longer found in this part of Australia now. Murujuga's artists engraved some of these animals, such as crocodiles. Then, during the last ice age (between 30,000 and 18,000 years ago), the coastline was even further away (160 km). People were living in the Murujuga Ranges at this time. There are a number of engravings of animals that are now extinct, such as a fat-tailed species of kangaroo, which prove the changing environment.
Around 8,000 years ago, people began to construct houses. Art production at this time was also in full swing. The most recent rock art includes turtles, fish as well as the small rock wallabies, a small kangaroo, which now live on the islands.
As well as houses there are many stone arrangements, standing stones and terraces. This is a monumental hunter-gatherer-fisherperson landscape, which is equal to the period in Europe when people were constructing stone monuments such as Stonehenge (巨石阵) (except in Europe this occurred thousands of years later). The artworks in Murujuga were made on the rocks using stone tools. Together they show how people have been living in the region for thousands of years.
28.What is unique about the Murujuga artwork?
A.It meets our latest standards for beauty.
B.It is the oldest engraving tradition.
C.It was created by a rock art expert.
D.It combines culture with human creativity perfectly.
29.What can we learn about animals living 50,000 years ago?
A.They lived together in harmony with people then.
B.Large quantities of them were killed by people.
C.Many of them were recorded on the rock.
D.They changed the course of art rock history.
30.What kept pace with house construction according to the text?
A.The development of art.
B.The construction of Stonehenge in Europe.
C.The dying out of some marine animals.
D.The increase in local kangaroo populations.
31.What can be the best title of the text?
A.Murujuga: animals are no longer found
B.Murujuga: a unique rock art in Australia
C.Murujuga: the rock needs protecting
D.Murujuga:the art made by using stone tools
D
Bird populations are dropping sharply due to logging, agriculture, and climate change. Scientists keep track of species by recording their calls, but even the best computer programs can't reliably distinguish bird calls from other sounds. Now, thanks to a bit of crowdsourcing and a lot of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms (算法), researchers say they have something to talk about.
AI algorithms can be as finicky as finches, often requiring manual checking and retraining for each new location or species. So a group of researchers launched the Bird Audio Detection challenge, which released hours of recordings from environmental monitoring stations around Chernobyl, Ukraine, which they happened to have access to, as well as crowd-sourced recordings, some of which came from an app called Warblr.
Humans labeled (标记) each 10-second part as containing a bird call or not. Using so-called machine learning, in which computers learn from data, 30 teams trained their AIs on a set of the recordings for which labels were provided and then tested them on recordings.
At the end of the month-long competition, the best algorithm scored 89 out of 100 on a statistical measure of performance called AUC. A higher number, in this case, indicates the algorithm managed to avoid labeling non-bird sounds as bird sounds (humans, insects, or rain often threw them off) and avoid missing real bird sounds (usually because of unclear recordings), the organizers report. The best previous algorithm they tested had an AUC score of 79.
The algorithm on the top of the pecking order could even generalize well enough to score 84 on samples of nocturnal (夜行的). Bird calls that were very brief and hard to analyze and very different from the training sounds. The algorithms can't outperform humans (who were used to labelling the data in the first place), but machines can operate all day and night and don't mind the rain. It's only a matter of time before an AI hatched from this competition takes flight in the real world.
32.What is the purpose of recording the calls of birds?
A.To record climate change.
B.To test out some computer programs.
C.To figure out the reason for worsening environment.
D.To pay attention to what happened to birds.
33.What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 2 mean?
A.AI algorithms focus on locations.
B.AI algorithms have many advantages.
C.AI algorithms are complex and difficult to handle.
D.AI algorithms are very popular among scientists.
34.What does the author intend to do in paragraph 3?
A.Test the AI algorithms with recordings.
B.Present the scientific method of the test.
C.Prove the accuracy of the AI algorithms.
D.Explain the theoretical foundation of the competition.
35.What can be inferred from the last two paragraphs?
A.The AI algorithm has improved in telling bird calls from other sounds.
B.The test of the nocturnal bird calls scored highest.
C.The statistical measure AUC used in the research was on trial.
D.The AI algorithm often labeled non-bird sounds as bird sounds.
