英语中的物主代词分为形容词性物主代词和名词性物主代词,具体分类请见下面表格:

1.用法:
(1)形容词性物主代词用来修饰名词,起到形容词的作用,不能单独使用。 例如:
Myparentsarebothteachers.我的父母都是老师。
(2)名词性物主代词可以单独使用,相当于“形容词性物主代词+名词”,后面不跟名词。例如:
MayIuseyourruler?Ihavelostmine.=MayIuseyourruler?Ihavelostmyruler.我可以用一下你的尺子吗?我的(尺子)丢了。

另外,名词性物主代词还可以用在“n.+of+名词性物主代词”结构中,表示“某人的……”。例如:
Theshoesofhersareverynice.她的鞋子很漂亮。
2.所作成分:
(1)形容词性物主代词只能作定语。例如:
Thereissomethingwrongwithhiscomputer.他的电脑出问题了。
Theylovetheirworkintheshop.他们喜欢在商店的工作。
(2)名词性物主代词可以作主语、宾语和表语。例如:
Yourbookisinteresting,butmineismoreinteresting.你的书很有趣,但是我的更有趣。(作主语)
Ilostmypenthismorning.MayIborrowyours?今天上午我丢了钢笔。我能借用一下你的吗?(作宾语)
Theselettersarehis.这些是他的信。(作表语)
