情态动词could的用法
1.情态动词could表示礼貌地提出要求。
Could you (please) do...?/Could you do...,please?意为“请你做……好吗?”,表示请求对方做某事。表示否定意义时,用“Could you please not do...?”意为“请不要做……好吗?”
肯定回答为“Yes,sure./Sure./Of course./No problem.”。
否定回答为“Sorry./No,I can’t.”,其后一般委婉地加上原因。例如:
—Could you please clean your room?请你打扫一下房间好吗?
—Yes,sure.好的,当然。
—Could you sweep the floor,please?请你把地扫一下好吗?
—Sorry.I have to finish my drawing.对不起。我必须完成我的画。
2.情态动词could表示委婉地请求许可。
Could I...?意为“我可以……吗?”,表示请求对方允许自己做某事。
肯定回答为“Yes,you can./Sure./Of course.”。
否定回答为“Sorry./I’m afraid not./I’m sorry you can’t.”。例如:
—Could I use your computer?我能用一下你的电脑吗?
—Sorry.I’m working on it.对不起。我正在用。
3.情态动词could作为can的过去式时,不表示委婉语气,而表示过去的能力或可能性,对其一般疑问句的回答仍可用could。例如:
The boy could read when he was five years old.这个男孩5岁时就能看书了。
