Dove is a well-known chocolate brand, and there is a romantic story behind the name “Dove”.
It was the spring of 1919, when Princess Charlotte from Luxembourg(卢森堡)married Prince Felix of Bourbon-Parma. It was a big ceremony so that Leon, a young cook, was very busy during
that time. He had worked for such a long time that his hands were full of wounds. One day when he
was washing the dishes, an angel voice came into his ears. “That hurts, doesn’t it?” This beautiful
sound was made by Princess Bazzar who was a distant relative of Princess Charlotte. It was the first
time these two youths met.
After that, they become very close soon. Leon made ice-creams for Princess Bazzar late at
night. They ate ice-cream and talked with each other happily and fell in love with each other.
However , due to the big gap of status (地位) , neither of them showed the love in their heart.
But tragedies always happened to beloved ones. A few months later, Luxembourg decided to
marry Princess Bazzar to a foreign prince. Leon was restless when he heard the news. His last
chance to contact Princess Bazzar was the ice-cream he made. So he used hot chocolate to write
“Dove” on the ice-cream which stood for “Do you love me?” However, what Leon had not expected
was that the hot chocolate made the ice-cream melt and when the ice-cream was served to Princess
Bazzar, she could not figure out the letters on it. Leon missed the last chance. Leon deeply regretted
and he decided to make chocolate with “Dove” on every piece.

A couple had a son eleven years after they married. They were a loving couple and the boy was
the apple of their eyes. When the boy was around four years old, one day the father was very tired
after work so he asked his wife to pick up their son. The mother, who was very busy in the kitchen,
totally forgot about it.
Later the boy lost his way on the street. When the son was found missing, the mother hur
ried to look for him, but she
didn’t find him. The mother felt very sad and didn’t know how to face her husband.
When the father went to the police station after hearing that the son was missing, he looked at
his wife and said just four words. What do you think the four words were? The husband just said “I love you, darling.”
The son was missing. If he had picked him up earlier, this would not have happened. There is
no point in blaming (责备) anyone. His wife had also lost her only child. What his wife needed at
that moment was comfort and understanding from her husband. That is what the husband gave his
wife. Several weeks later, with the help of the police, the couple finally found their lost son. The
family’s relationship became stronger over that time.
Sometimes we spend lots of time asking who is to blame. We miss many chances to give each
other support and let each other feel the warmth of human relationships. Get rid of all your
unwillingness to forgive, selfishness, and fears and you will find the world is muc
h more wonderful.

A. He was very lazy. B. He thought the mother had picked him up.
C. He forgot to pick him up. D. He was too tired to do it.
31. What can we learn from this passage?
A. Be careful in everything you do. B. Love is the most important thing.
C. Learn to forgive others. D. Everyone can make mistakes.
D
Why do some people live to be older than others? You know the standard explanations: keeping
a moderate diet, engaging in regular exercise, etc. But what effect does your personality have on
your longevity? Do some kinds of personalities lead to longer lives? A new study in Journal of the
American Geriatrics Society looked at this question by examining the personality characteristics of
246 children of people who had lived to be at least 100.
The study shows that those living the longest are more outgoing, more active and less
neurotic(神经质的)than other people. Long-living women are also more likely to be sympathetic
and cooperative than women with a normal lifespan. These findings are in agreement with what you
would expect from the evolutionary theory: those who like to make friends and help others can
gather enough resources to make it through tough times.
Interestingly, however, other characteristics that you might consider advantageous had no
impact on whether study participants were likely to live longer. Those who were more
self-disciplined, for instance, were no more likely to live to be very old .Also, being open to new
ideas had no relationship to a long life, which might explain all those bad-tempered old people who are fixed in their ways.
Whether you can successfully change your personality as an adult is the subject of a
longstanding psychological debate. But the new paper suggests that if you want a long life, you
should strive to be as outgoing as possible.
Unfortunately, another recent study shows that your mother’s personality may also help
determine your longevity. That study looked at nearly28,000Norwegain mothers and found that
those mums who were more anxious, depressed and angry were more likely to feed their kids
unhealthy diets. Patterns of childhood eating can be hard to break when we are adults, which may
mean that kids of depressed mums end up dying younger.
Personality isn’t destiny, and everyone knows that individuals can learn to change. But both
studies show that a long life isn’t just a matter of your physical health but of your mental health.
32.According to the author, outgoing and sympathetic people____________?
A. have a good understanding of evoluation B. are probably more active and neurotic
C. are more likely to recover from hardship D. generally appear more resourceful
33. What finding of the study might be out of our expectation?.
A. Helpful people can live a relatively long life.
B. Being self-discipline makes no difference to longevity.
C. Readiness to accept new ideas offers more possibility to enjoy longevity
D. Personality characteristics that prove advantageous actually vary with times.
34. What does the recent study of Norwegian mothers show?
A. Mothers’ anxiety may affect their children’s lifespans.
B. People with unhealthy eating habits are likely to die at a young age.
C. Mothers may have a longer influence on children than fathers
D. Children’s personality characteristics are always shaped by their mothers.
35.What can we learn from the findings of the two new studies?
A. Anxiety and depression more often than not cut short one’s lifespan.
B. A person’s lifestyle is largely related to his or her health.
C. Personality plays a decisive and significant role in how healthy one is.
D. A mixture of mental and physical health produces longevity.

第二节:书面表达(满分 25 分)
Dear Jack,
I’m so glad to know that you are very interested in the group dancing. Now I’m
writing to tell you more about it.
To begin with, group dancing is now the most popular activity in China, especially among the old people. In fact, it has been popular all over the country. China is now
advancing into an agi ng
society. Many old people need to be looked after. So many old people come out to take
group dancing in public parks in order to get rid of loneliness, which made the group
dance popular all over the world.
In my opinion, group dancing not only gives the elderly a chance to make friends
but also build up their bodies. If they take gro
up dance far from
schools and residential buildings and the music doesn’t disturb others’ lives, they can
dance.
