Ben and Janet ask him how he feels and gives advice to him to get well again. Unit 4 is a passage about how Mr Li , who is 80 years old , stays healthy.‎ ‎【课时分配】‎ Unit 5 What’s the matter with you? Warm-up Step II. Presentation ‎1、Presenting the dialogue ‎ Have pupils look at the pictures on pages 26~27. If you use the e-Resource , show the two pages on the screen.‎ Talk about the picture on page 26 with pupils. Draw pupils’ attention to Jiamin.ask pupils to guess what the matter is with Jiamin. You ma y use:‎ What’s the matter with Jiamin?‎ He doesn’t look well Ask pupils : what should we do if we do not feel well? Elicit , or present , go to see a doctor , and take some medicine.‎ Set a purpose for listening to the dialogue : Jiamin is not feeling well. ‎ What happened ?‎ Did he go to see a doctor? Let’s listen and find out.‎ Play the recording all the way through ; follow by looking at the text in their book. If you use the e-Resource , play the dialogue video. The video will make the meaning of the dialogue clear to the pupils.‎ Play the recording again , pausing after each line for pupils to repeat and for you to clarify meaning. If you use the e-Resource ,click on each line. While doing this , highlight the target language items listed above. Use the picture and the context in the dialogue to convey the meaning , and provide further examples to illustrate each language structure if necessary.‎ Conduct reading aloud practice on the dialogue. Divide the class into 3 groups ; pupils will read the dialogue in the roles of Ben , Jiamin and Janet.‎ If you the e-Resource , you may use the Listen and repeat function for pupils to repeat. Later , use the Role play function for pupils to join the conversation in the roles of Ben , Jiamin and Janet.‎ ‎2、Presenting the further vocabulary items ‎ ‎ You may provide this leading to the further vocabulary items : Jiamin has a stomachache. Why ? maybe he ate some bad food. What should he do? He should see a doctor. ‎ ‎ Then say each phrase again for pupils to repeat after you. If you use the e-Resource , show the page on the screen. Click on the captions for pupils to hear the phrases and to repeat.‎ For further practice , point to the pictures randomly for pupils to say the phrases aloud. If you use e-Resource ,after pupils have tried saying a phrase , click on it for pupils to check their pronunciation.‎ ‎ Have pupils produce a dialogue similar to the one between Ben, Jiamin and Janet , substituting the following words and phrases (in brackets)with the further vocabulary items from page 27: ‎ Ben: Jiamin. You don’t look well. What’s the matter with you?‎ Jiamin: I fell ill. I have (a stomachache.) maybe I (ate some bad food).‎ Janet: I’m sorry to hear that. You should see a doctor.‎ Jiamin: I did. I went to the hospital this morning. I stayed there for two hours.‎ Ben: And what did the doctor say?‎ Jiamin:He gave me a check-up and asked me to (take this medicine three time a day for one work).‎ Janet: You should be careful , Jiamin. If you use the e-Resource , show the task on the screen.‎ If necessary , revise the health vocabulary items with pupils.‎ Explain the task. Give pupils time to look for the words. With a less able class , you may give some of the words on the board for pupils to find in the puzzle. You may also tell them the total number of words to find.‎ Use an interaction format that suits your teaching the best. For example, pupils may try the word search individually or in pairs.‎ Extension: invite pupils to create a similar word puzzle for their classmates to try.‎ ‎2、listen and tick or cross. Ask pupils to look at the blue words.‎ ‎ Alternatively , put the sentences on the board , with the prepositions left out. Pupils then try filling in the blanks with the correct preposition. When they have finished , they look at Part 1 on page 30 to check their answers.‎ 1. Use the example to help with the explanation.‎ You may start the task as a teacher-guided activity , with the teacher asking questions to elict the expected answers.
