材内容分析
本单元的中心话题是健康生活。听说读写活动主要围绕如何摒弃恶习,怎样成为健康人,如何劝告他人改掉恶习展开的。阅读部分是爷爷写给孙子的一封信,信中82岁的爷爷提到:他之所以能长寿和充满活力,主要得益于他健康的生活方式。爷爷年轻的时候也抽过烟,甚至上过瘾,因此他知道上瘾容易戒烟难,并以亲生体会向孙子说明上瘾的原因,抽烟的危害和戒烟的方法,告诫孙子把烟戒掉。
教学目标
本节课的主要任务是让学生深刻感受到抽烟对身体的伤害,牢固树立起永不抽烟的意识,同时通过教师的引导,积累词句,学会如何6步成功劝说他人改变坏习惯,过上健康快乐生活。
教学过程
Step1 Warming-up and lead-in(2 mins)
教师播放癌症病人临死前自诉的视频,引导学生寻找他死亡的原因。
T:Good afternoon, everyone! Today we’ll talk about Reading:Advice from grandad. Let’s watch a video first with one question in mind:What did the man suffer from?...
[意图说明]用英语视频训练学生听力,同时获取信息,激发学生好奇心理,引出主题——抽烟是疾病的根源。
Step2 Pre-reading(10 mins)
1.教师让学生看图片视频——抽烟对人的不同部位的伤害:肺部,心脏,喉咙,胎儿,牙齿,手指等,接着让学生用英语表达抽烟的危害性。
T: Every day we see people smoking and it seems that everybody knows smoking is harmful .But does everybody really think about its effect? Let me show you more pictures and then answer me :what terrible effects does smoking have?...
[意图说明]用富有感染力的图片和声音触动学生内心,让他们深刻感受抽烟严重威胁着健康。之后让学生用英语词汇表达抽烟的危害,练习说英语,促进思考。
2. 教师把课文中有关抽烟对人的危害的语句展示在大屏幕上,让学生读同时对生词部分做必要解释。
T: Now let’s look at the suggestive answers from our readers’ book. Anyone can read it for us? One person, one sentence.

[意图说明] 在学生用自己的词汇表达完抽烟的危害后,再与课文中描述抽烟危害的句子进行比照,学习借鉴用不同的词汇准确表达抽烟的危害,同时重现重复也能进一步加深对抽烟危害的感受。教师做适当的必要的生词解释,促进对生词的理解和对生词的记忆。
2. 教师让学生拿出事先搜集来的烟盒,寻找烟盒上注明的烟的主要成分:焦油、烟气烟碱、一氧化碳,并做简要解释。
T: Do you wonder why it is so harmful? What is it made of? Please take out your cigarette case and find out these Chinese characters....
[意图说明]提供香烟有害的科学依据,同时理解课文中对于尼古丁作用的描述:When Nicotine leaves your body, you get withdrawal symptoms.加深学生对香烟有害的认识。
Step3 While-reading(20 mins)
1. 教师引导学生进入劝说他人戒烟环节。
T:So smoking means killing. If your father smoked,what would you do?...Now let’s see how a grandad who loves his grandson so much gives his advice on stopping smoking to his grandson.
[意图说明]引出另外一个主题:如何劝说他人戒烟。
2. 教师让学生迅速浏览全文,归纳各段段落大意,并点明各段的作用。
T:Please open your book. Look through quickly and tell me the main idea of each paragraph. For example:...
[意图说明] 让学生整体感知文章篇章结构,了解劝说他人需要以理服人(6个理由,6个段落)。
3. 教师引导学生找出体现爷爷情感,经历等的词句。
T:Please look through the text again and find out words ,sentences that describe grandad’s feelings ,experiences ...
[意图说明]找出这些句子,体会字词背后隐含的含义。让学生明白,要想成功劝说他人,除了理由充分,还要像这位爷爷一样,语言中饱含着对孙子的爱,理解,宽容和鼓励。只有真挚的情感才能打动别人。同时找出的词句也为后面的口头角色扮演提供词汇,句型。
Step4 Post-reading(11 mins)
1. 教师让学生做一个游戏:交换同桌
T:Let’s change partners. One,two,........fifteen!Sit down with your new partner!

[意图说明]让学生在集中注意力30分钟后起来走动放松,为下一个角色扮演环节热身,同时交换同桌有助于讨论起来有新鲜感,更热烈。
1. 全班4组,一个大组统一用一种情境,两两成对,一个学生充当抽烟者,另外一个学生充当劝告者,用劝告的6步和句式尝试劝说对方。
[意图说明]学以致用,进一步巩固之前所学的内容,强化劝说的步骤和词句。
2. 教师总结今天所学内容。
T: Today we learn much about the harmful effects of smoking: cost money, damage beauty and kill bodies. We also learn how to give advice to others: “health” advice and useful words
[意图说明] 回顾本节课的内容,有利于学生记住重点知识,理清脉络。
Step5 Homework(1 mins)
教师设计说和写的作业,回家后继续练习。
T:Look at the picture.After class ,please think about two questions:1.Why did they smoke? 2.Who do you think can advise them to quit smoking more effectively? Tomorrow please share your ideas with us. Another task: please give their parents a letter to persuade these children to quit smoking.
[意图说明]布置说和写的作业进一步巩固课堂所学,弥补课堂说和写的不足。
Step6 concluding(1mins)
教师展示两句话,同时播放一个富有启发意义的视频结束本节课。
No beginning (to smoke), no harm.没有开始就没有伤害。
Please keep away from smoking forever for those who love you and those who you love.为了爱你的人和你爱的人,请远离抽烟。
[意图说明]意味深长,留给学生思考如何拥有幸福生活。
