Unit 3 Welcome to our school!‎ Reading‎ (II)‎ I. Teaching aims and learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:‎ ‎1. understand the language points in this article;‎ ‎2. talk about one’s own school;‎ ‎3. introduce different facilities in their school; ‎ ‎4. introduce the environment of their school with suitable words and expressions. ‎ II. Teaching contents ‎1. New words and phrases: so, show, around, front, building, ground, ground floor, ‎ bright, modern, hall, diary ‎2. New structures: The playground is so big.‎ My classroom is on the ground floor.‎ This way, Mum.‎ ‎ ‎ III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty Understand the language points in their conversation.‎ Introduce the different places with suitable words and expressions.‎ Talk about one’s own school.‎ IV. Teaching procedures Step 1 Lead-in ‎1. Tell something about the school T: Hello, everyone! Today we’ll continue to learn Reading of Unit 3—Welcome to our school. Millie is showing her mother around her school. Which place did they visit? How do they look? Now let’s look at the pictures and try to say something about their trip.‎ Is there anybody who wants to say something about the classroom?‎ Is there anybody who wants to say something about the playground?‎ ‎ Is there anybody who wants to say something about the library?‎ ‎ Is there anybody who wants to say something about the computer room?‎ T: Thank you for telling me so much about our school. ‎ ‎2. Rearrange ‎ T: Millie and her mother visit the school on the Open Day. Do you remember the places and people they see? Please arrange them in the order of time.‎ Mr Wu the classroom building the playground the school hall the art room and the music room the library 4‎ Millie’s classroom T: The playground is the first place they visit. And then is the classroom building. We know there are many different rooms in it. So, Millie’s classroom is the third place. The followings are the art room and the music room. The fifth is the library. It is new and modern, right? The school hall is the last place they visit. And of course, at the end of their trip, they met Mr Wu on their way. So, the number is 7,2,1,6,4,5,3‎ ‎【设计意图】通过学生比较熟悉和感兴趣的话题导入新课,使其迅速进入本课话题,又为接下来的教学做好铺垫。‎ Step 2 Presentation ‎1. Complete a diary T: Millie wants to write about her school. Complete her diary entry with the words we have learnt before.‎ ‎10 October Dear Diary,‎ Today is the Open Day. Our parents come and visit our school on this day.‎ Our school is ________.The __________is very big, and our classroom are clean and ________.There are 18 classrooms in the classroom ________ and my classroom is on the _______ floor. We also have an ______ room and two _______ rooms .‎ Our library is new and ________.There are lots of books. We often go there in the afternoon. We also have a school _______. We have meetings there . Our school is really nice. We all love it.‎ ‎2. Complete a dialogue T: Let’s check who has the best memory in our class. One is Millie the other is Mum. Let’s play the role.‎ Millie: Yes, they are. _______, Mum. We also have _______, a ________and two___________.‎ Mum: That’s________. You have ________too, right?‎ Millie: Yes. The new building is our_______.‎ Mum: It______. What’s the building over there?‎ Millie: It’s________. We ___________ there.‎ Mum: I see. Make up a dialogue T: Millie has some pictures about her school. I’d like some of you to make a short dialogue about each picture. I’ll give you an example. ‎ Example: Classroom A: What is it? B: It’s our classroom.‎ A: Where is it? B: It’s on the ground floor.‎ A: How does it look? B: It’s clean and bright.‎ A: What can we use it for? B: We can have classes there.‎ 4‎ Picture 1: Computer room Picture 2: Music room Picture 3: School hall Picture 4: Art room Picture 5: Playground ‎4. Language Points ‎ (1) look beautiful / modern / young / …‎ ‎ look“看起来”为系动词 ,后面要加形容词。‎ e.g. Our school looks beautiful .‎ ‎ The library looks modern.‎ ‎ (2) so + adj. (形容词) so “如此,这么;”‎ e.g. The playground is so big .‎ ‎ Our hall is so bright.‎ ‎ (3) show sb. around sp. 带某人参观某地 e.g. Let me show you around my school .‎ ‎ (4) in front of 在…前面(外部的)‎ ‎ in the front of 在…的前面(内部的)‎ e.g. We’re in front of the classroom building.‎ ‎ There is a blackboard in the front of the classroom.‎ ‎(5) on the ground floor 在底层,在一楼 e .g. My classroom is on the ground floor .‎ ‎ (6) This way, Mum. 这边走,妈妈。‎ ‎(7) over there / here 在这边 / 那边 e.g. What’s the building over there .‎ ‎(8) the man in the white shirt ‎ 穿白色衬衫的那个人 这里in意思是“穿着,戴着”。‎ e.g. Who’s the man in the white shirt .‎ ‎【设计意图】老师给定5张Millie学校的照片,配合每张照片4个问题,分别是该场所叫什么?该场所位于学校的哪里?该场所看起来怎样?和我们可以在该场所里做什么?最后一个问题也就是场所功能。采用学生两辆配对一问一答形式,进行语言输出。要求语言的连贯性和准确性。老师和有能力的同学可以对有困难的同学给予一定的辅助,使其有信心完整的说出句子。讲解知识点时,根据通过上述回忆和与同学进行真实的对话交流例句展示等方式,帮助学生理解本对话中重点词组及用法归纳。鼓励学生不懂就问,多发言,并对学生不准确的发音及时进行纠正,并且要当场纠正,夯实基础,为下面的操练做好准备。‎ Step 3 Practice ‎1.
