Unit 5 Wild animals Reading‎ (I)‎ I. Teaching aims and learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:‎ ‎1. grasp the main idea of the whole text and each paragraph;‎ ‎2. understand the structure of the text;‎ ‎3. get specific information by using the indicating words;‎ ‎4. understand the importance of protecting wild animals. ‎ II. Teaching contents ‎1. (Group work)‎ T: Sometimes, we can get the main idea of the whole article from the title, the pictures and ‎ the first and last paragraph to ‎ (2) Have a try T: Let’s have a challenge to get the main idea of the text. ‎ ‎3. Skim for the main idea of each paragraph ‎(1) Brainstorm T: The report is about the pandas, so let’s guess in what aspects we can introduce the pandas. We will use the mind map to help us. Here, I will give you a sample of the mind map.‎ ‎ (2) Skim for the main ideas of paragraph 2―5‎ T: All of you have thought of so many ideas. Now, let’s read paragraph 2-5 and find their main ideas to see whether you have made the right prediction. ‎ ‎(3) Explain how to find out the main idea with the topic sentence. ‎ T: Here, I have a question for you.
