The General Idea of This Period:
This period is about two parts. First, read the passage:animals extinction. It will help the students learn more about wildlife and realize what made the animals disappear and what we should do to help to save the endangered animals. Then write a letter of how to protect the endangered animal in Sanya--egrets.
Teaching Aims:
1.Train the students’ reading and writing abilities.
2.Learn some useful words and expressions:
disappear,county,die out,dust, pollute...
3.Enable the students to know what they should do to help the endangered animals and realize the importance of protecting them .

Help the students to understand the passages and realize the importance of protecting the endangered animals.

2.How to help the students understand real reasons of the disappearance of the animals and realize the importance of protecting them.

Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Warming up and lead-in.
Ask students to look at some pictures of the endangered animals.
T:As you can see, there are many endangered animals such as tiger, panda,
elephant...
If we don’t save them, they will die out like many animals in the past such as dinosaurs! Now we’ll invite a dinosaur to give you some information about it.
The dinosaur acted by a student will give some information about it.

Ask the students to read the passage quickly and find the topic sentences.

T: What’s worse, more and more animals are in danger of disappearing!
Ask the students to discuss the questions with each other.

Step 5 Writing
T: In our city, there is also a kind of endangered animal—egrets! If we don’t save them, they will die out soon. Now please work in groups and write a letter to the city government of Sanya, giving them some suggestions on how to save them.
Ask students to work in groups and write down the ideas. Then share their letters with the class.
