(1)be supposed to do sth. 中的to是动词不定式符号,其后要跟动词原形,be有人称和时态的变化。
be supposed to 的主语是“人”时,意为“应该……,被期望……”,可用来表劝告、建议、义务或责任等,相当于情态动词should。如:
You are supposed to ask the teacher if you want to leave the classroom. 如果你想要离开教室,你应该先问问老师。
be supposed to的主语是“物”时,意为“本应,本该”,用于表示某事本应该发生而没有发生。如:
The meeting is supposed to take place on Tuesday,but we have to put it off. 这个会议本应该在星期二举行,但我们不得不把它推迟了。
be supposed to的否定结构为be not supposed to,常用于口语中,意为“不被许可……,不应当……”。如:
You are not supposed to do that. 你不应当做那种事情。
(2)be supposed to 与should的用法区别
be supposed to do sth.:be supposed是suppose一词的__________语态结构。后接动词不定式时,含义相当于should后接动词__________,并且should属于__________语态形式,使用起来较严肃和正式;而be supposed to do sth.的使用较随便,建议性强。
