Warming Up Brainstorming: English dialects in different countries Discussion: Is there standard English?‎ 头脑风暴小组讨论 填补学生间的信息差,为活动的开展做好准备。通过头脑风暴形式发散学生的思维,激活学生原有的知识经验,加上小组讨论帮助学生大脑形成一个有关“标准英语与方言”的信息包,把它和阅读中将要出现的新知识有机结合起来。‎ Step3. Reading Task One: Skimming Ask the students to skim the passage and underline the topic sentence of each paragraph.‎ Ask the students to scan the passage and answer the following questions:‎ ‎1. Is the English spoken on TV and the radio standard English?‎ ‎2. How many English dialects have been mentioned?‎ ‎3. Can Americans understand each other’s dialects?‎ 任务型阅读 语言知识输入,学生根据形成的信息包,运用阅读策略,带着任务进行阅读。任务型阅读,将阅读简化,分步骤分层次阅读,加深对文本理解,阅读技巧的指导帮助学生完成阅读任务。‎ Step4. Listening A taste of American English dialects. Imagine that you are in Houston, Texas, a city in the American South. Can you understand the local dialect?‎ Task One: Ask the students to listen to an example of the local dialect without the text.‎ Task Two: Ask the students to listen to Jan e’s translation and put these sentences in the right sequence. ‎ ‎___ Lester climbed a tree.‎ ‎___ Buford, Billy Bob and Lester went swimming.‎ ‎___ Lester thought the catfish would eat him.‎ ‎___ Buford and Billy Bob laughed.‎ ‎___ Lester saw a catfish.‎ ‎___ Now Lester is too afraid to visit the place. ‎ 任务型听力 听力输入,学生可以直接就两种口音进行对比,体会南方方言与标准英语的不同。指导学生进行听力,培养听力技能,同时通过两种口音对比,让学生初步感受文化对英语语言多样性的影响,引发文化意识。‎ Step5. Speaking ‎ Americans can understand each other even if they speak different dialects.
