Different weather makes people feel different. It influences health, intelligence (智力) and feelings.
In August, it is very hot and wet in the southern part of the United States. People there have heart trouble and other kinds of health problems during this month. Many countries have holidays to bring good luck. In Thailand, people hold a water festival. It’s in the middle of April when people pour water on each other.
Kite flying has a special meaning in Korea. On January 15, many Korean boys write “No bad luck” on their kites and fly them high in the sky. Then they cut the strings. The kites will then fly away. The bad luck is taken away for the year.
The Chinese New Year is usually a one-week holiday, children get “lucky money” in red envelops. Before the New Year, Chinese people always clean their houses to clean out bad luck. Everything must be fresh and clean for the new year.
