The earthquake which struck Yunnan Province on August 3rd had a high death number because of its high magnitude, follow-on disasters and the high population of the area.
The death has risen to 615 four days after the powerful earthquake. Among the reported deaths, 526 were in the worst-hit Ludian County and 76 in Qiaojia County. The official count showed that there were 114 missing and 3,143 people injured in the 6.5-magnitude earthquake.
