School students are not allowed to drink wine(酒), but there’s nothing
wrong with making it. Urumqi No. 37 Middle School students in Xinjiang have been doing it since 2005.
Grapes are grown everywhere in Xinjiang. It’s the reason the school decided to teach students how to make red wine a few years ago, according to Zhu Dacheng, vice-head of the school.
“We hope the students can find out about something in real life and learn practical (实用的) skills,” he said.
The students got to work in September, when the grapes in Xinjiang were good enough. They were divided into groups. They needed about 5kg of grapes each, some yeast (酵母), a large bowl and a big bottle.
Yang Lili, 13, told Teens how the four students in her group made their wine.
“We worked like a production line,” she said. One student washed the grapes, another pulled them from their stems(茎,梗); the others pressed the grapes in a large bowl. Then they put the grapes and the yeast into a big bottle and closed it up. The task takes about an hour.
Then what? A lot of waiting! After 45 days, the students cleaned the wine twice and then put it into small bottles. At last, the wine was ready.
Yang said that of the 11 groups in her class, just three failed to make wine. In March, the whole class held a wine-tasting party.
Xu Hao, 13, said they were excited to taste the results. “The wine is so sweet,” he said. “We made better wine than you can buy in the supermarket!”
“It’s because our wine is made from 100% grapes,” he added.
At the party, the teacher also taught the students about wine culture. For example, how to hold a glass, and how you can judge the quality of a wine by its color.
76. Why did the school decide to teach the students how to make red wine?
A. Because drinking wine is not allowed in school.
B. Because the school has grown lots of grapes.
C. Because grapes are grown everywhere in Xinjiang.
D. Because the school has been doing it for many years.

D. To help the students do better in their study.
78. How does the group “production line” work according to the passage?

C. Wash the grapes→pull the grapes→press the grapes→put the yeast in→close the bottle up.
D. Get grapes ready→get bowls ready→put the yeast in→press the grapes→close the bottle up.
79. Why were the students excited to taste their wine?
A. Because they learned about the wine culture.
B. Because they succeeded at last after waiting for 45 days.
C. Because they could sell the wine to the supermarket.
D. Because the wine in the supermarket wasn’t as sweet as the wine they made.
80. Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?

If music makes you smarter and exercise helps you to think, surely exercising to music can turn you into an intelligent person.
A team of scientists from Ohio State University did tests on 33 volunteers who were getting better from heart disease following operation(手术). They found that people who exercised while listening to Italian musician Antonio Vivaldi’s “ The Four Seasons ” did much better on language ability tests than without music.
“ Facts suggest that exercise improve the learning ability of people with heart disease, ” said the scientist Charles Emery, who led the study. “ And listening to music is thought to enhance understanding. We just wanted to put the two results together. ” he added.
The volunteers said they felt better emotionally(情绪的) and physically after exercising with or without the music. But their improvement on the test doubled after listening to music during exercise. Scientists have shown it is true that music can be good for health, education and well-being. It helps cut down stress, sadness and nervousness; makes relaxation or sleep more likely happen; wakes up the body and improves memory and thoughts.
In medical fields, music is used widely for patients who have had head hurts before and after operation. “ The Four Seasons” was used because of its soft tempo(节拍) and positive(积极的) results in earlier research. “ Exercise seems to cause positive changes in the nervous system and these changes may have a direct result on learning ability, ” Emery said.
Scientists have been studying the result of music on understanding since the early 1950s. By 1990, scientists were using Mozart’s music, especially his violin pieces, to help children with speech disorders. Mozart was chosen because his music is not overexciting and has clear structures(结构). A study showed students who listened to Mozart went to score higher marks in an intelligence test. With important exams drawing near, your parents will not probably allow you to listen to music. But perhaps now you have good reasons to argue with them.

Do you think that living a hungry life is last century’s story? Well, it may be this century’s headline.
The world has growing worries about a food shortage (短缺) . Right now, 870 million people go hungry every day, according to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization.
Unfortunately, children can’t avoid this. Around 15 million children die or hunger each year, and many go to sleep hungry. Malnutrition (营养不良) has led to one in six children becoming underweight in developing countries. And 70 percent of these children live in Asia.
What’s causing food shortages? There are many reasons.
Increasing droughts (干旱) and floods (水灾) make land used for crops (庄稼) disappear. And with a quickly growing population, the burden (负担) of feeding so many people is becoming heavier and heavier.
Food waste is another factor, as 1.3 billion tons is wasted every year. This put huge pressure on food resources (资源) .
“We will need a new recipe to feed the world in the future,” Anders Jagerskog, a doctor from the Stockholm International Water Institute, told The Guardian newspaper.
Can we help prevent food shortage? Yes!
The easiest way to help is by cutting down on food waste. Amazingly, one third of all food made is wasted.
Next time, before you throw away that half hamburger, imagine the whole process it had to go through to get to your plate.
If you cut down on throwing food in the bin, it helps solve the problem of food shortage.
How can your daily food choices improve your diet and help the earth? Here are some tips:
Go organic (有机的):
Look for organic food. There is no pesticide (杀虫剂) or fertilizer (肥料) used during the production process.
Different proteins (蛋白质):
Eat beans and nuts instead of meats. A lot less energy is needed to grow them compared with keeping cows and chickens.
Buy direct:
Find local food. They are fresher and use less packaging (包装).
Home Grown:
Plant your own vegetable garden. No packaging or pesticides are needed.
106.According to the article, how many people are still hungry every day in the world now?

107. Write one reason for food shortages that is talked about in the article:
