阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
My son David, who was 3.5 years old, taught me a beautiful lesson today. After we finished playing with the beads (珠子) , David slowly picked up each bead, looking at it as if it were made of chocolate and then put it into the box they were stored in. With over a hundred beads to go, I was getting impatient. "Why could he not pick up 10 in one go and put them in? My morning was going to be ruined today!"
But then it hit me like a brick. I noticed that he did this with as much interest as he had while we were playing. The boy was enjoying the whole process. For him the fun was in the game itself as well as in the process of properly packing up and cleaning up. It was not just about his turn or the fun part. Every bit was as fun as the other.
I thought of myself as a kid when we would go out to play cricket (板球). If I was not batting or bowling (击球或掷球), I was unhappy as I impatiently waited for my turn to do so. As a result, I was unhappy while waiting for my turn and only happy for the few moments I either batted or bowled. Only the process of doing something I combined with happiness made me cheerful. The rest of the time I was waiting for my run in the future or recalling great bowling from the past.
Looking at how peacefully my son was putting beads into the box taught me that the process is the goal. The joy of journey is not in getting there but in every step of it.

Many of us dream of having thousands and thousands of dollar to spend on what we desire .We can buy lottery tickets, enter contests or spend hours building a business or invest in the stock market. We are sure that when we have plenty of money, we will be happy
While having some money does have an impact on our level of happiness, having a lot of money does not. It is reported that Americans whose income goes from $20,000 a year to $50,000
a year are more likely to be happy. But beyond $50,000, happiness does not increase as salaries go up. It is because we are never satisfied. Catherine Sanderson, a psychology professor at Amherst College says, "We always think if we just had a little more money, we’d be happier. But when we get there, we are not."
Daniel Gilbert, a psychology professor at Harvard notes,"The more you make, the more you
want. The more you have, the less it brings you joy. We incorrectly assume we’Il get more pleasure from more, and we don’t."
The things money can buy don't make you happy either. A lot of research suggests that you
won't find the "good life" buying expensive "toys". You finally buy that BMW you've always
wanted and it soon loses its appeal. Then, instead of wondering if a new car is what really makes
you happy, you decide you just need a different new car. It is an endless cycle.
To really be happy, you need to understand what makes you happy in the first place. One secret of happiness is people. Surveys have found that people need people. Those who have five or
more close friends are 50% more likely to describe themselves as "very happy". Good relationships have a far greater effect on happiness than larger salary. Andrew Oswald, an economist at England's University of Warwick says, "If you are looking for happiness in life, find the right husband or wife rather than trying to double your salary."
11
So invest your time and energy in people. The reward is much bigger in terms of happiness!
25.In Paragraph 1 the author intends to tell us the "belief" that
A. we are unhappy because we often lack money
B. people can buy what they want if they have enough money
C. more money will make one's dreams come true
D. happiness will result from more money
26. Which of the following statements would the author agree to?
A. Having some money brings happiness to some degree.
B. The more money one earns, the sadder one becomes
C. Buying expensive things will surely bring pleasure
D. We get nothing from buying expensive things we want.
27. Why does happiness not increase with pay rises?
A. Most of us have a psychological problem. B. People are not content with what they get.
C. It is human nature to be unhappy. D. Happiness has nothing to do with money.
28. In order to find happiness we should
A. always make new friends B. take no notice of our salaries
C. focus on good relationships D. invest our money in our friend

Chinese Dinner Table
Of course, the main difference on the Chinese dinner table is chopsticks instead of knife and fork, but that’s only superficial. Besides, in decent restaurants, you can always ask for a pair of knife and fork, if you find the chopsticks not helpful enough. The real difference is that in the West, you have your own plate of food, while in China the dishes are placed on the table and everyone shares. If you are being treated to a formal dinner and particularly if the host thinks you’re in the country for the first time, he will do the best to give you a taste of many different types of dishes.
The meal usually begins with a set of at least four cold dishes, to be followed by the main courses of hot meat and vegetable dishes. Soup then will be served (unless in Guangdong style restaurants) to be followed by staple food ranging from rice, noodles to dumplings. If you wish to have your rice to go with other dishes, you should say so in good time, for most of the Chinese choose to have the staple food at last or have none of them at all.
Perhaps one of the things that surprise a western visitor most is that some of the Chinese hosts like to put food into the plates of their guests. In formal dinners, there are always “public” chopsticks and spoons for this purpose, but some hosts may use their own chopsticks. This is a sign of genuine friendship and politeness. It is always polite to eat the food. If you do not eat it, just leave the food in the plate.
People in China tend to over-order food, for they will find it embarrassing if all the food is consumed. When you have had enough, just say so. Or you will always

How to look good in a photo?
What should you do if you want to have a nice photo taken? Whether it's work or fun, the most important thing is lighting. If you get bad lighting, you will look bad, too.Know where the light is.You don't want it below you or above you, you want it to shine directly at you.
The key thing is no shadow. If you are being photographed outside, do it in the morning, or wait till the 2 o'clock shadow has passed. Also don't let pictures in the magazines stress you out —all the pictures are taken by great photographers. And all the faces have had pimples (丘疹,粉刺)taken out by computers.
Tip your head and learn what angles work with your face; everyone is different. So you have to learn what suits you.You can practice in Photo Booth for as long as it is your turn, to learn what angles suit your face.Tip your neck to make it look longer, make eye contact with the camera. No one can look bad if they smile.
For long legs, point one leg into center of the frame and get the photographer to shoot looking up your body.
For just leg shots, lie upside down and raise legs in the air for the best angle. And your legs will look thinner and be in better shape.
Keep shoulders back.
Always have mouth slightly open, enough to put a penny between your lips, as this will make your lips look fuller.
Lower your eyes and then look up just as shutter (快门) is clicked for full eyes.
11
Delete any evidence of a less than perfect photogenic moment, everyone has off days.
33.If you want to look good in a photo, the light should be ______.
A.below you B.above you
C.directly at you D.right behind you
34.According to the passage, we should consider all EXCEPT ______.
A.light B.shadow C.angles D.photographers
35.What advice does the author give on taking photos?
A.Raise legs on the wall. B.Look down.
C.Keep shoulders back. D.Put a penny between lips.
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
I had an experience once which taught me something about the ways people made a bad situation worse by blaming themselves. One January, I officiated(主持) at two funerals for two elderly women. 36 . At the first home, the son of the deceased(已故) woman said, “If only I had sent my mother to Florida and gotten her out of this cold and snow, she would be alive today. It’s my fault that she died.” At the second home, the son said, “If only I had not insisted her going to Florida, she would be alive today. 37 . It is my fault.”
When things don’t turn out as we would like them to, we tend to assume that had we done things differently, the story would have had a happier ending. Any time there is a death, the survivors will feel guilty. Because the course of action they took turned out bad, they believe that the opposite course, for example, keeping mother at home, would have turned out better. 38
There seem to be elements involved in our readiness to feel guilty. The first lies in our belief that the world makes sense---there is a reason for everything that happens.
The second is the thought that we are the cause of what happens, especially the bad things that happen. 39 . A baby comes to think that the world exists to meet his needs, and that he makes everything happen in it. He wakes up in the morning and calls the rest of the world to its tasks. 40 . When he is hungry, people feed him, and when he is wet, people change him. Very often, we do not completely abandon that childish thought that our wishes cause things to happen.
A. That long airplane ride was more than she could take
B. After all, how could it have turned out any worse?
C. Life and dead is an unsolved mystery.
D. The roots of this feeling may lie in our childhood
E. He cries, and someone comes to attend to him
F. Both died a natural death
G. They believe that they are responsible for what has happened.

第二节:(共10小题:每小题1.5分,满分15分)

American English has its own idioms. Let's say you buy something in a shop. And 61 you pay for it, you say: This cost 62 an arm and a leg! What do you really mean by 63 (say) so? Do you have to give them your arm and your leg? I hope not. Let's listen to an American English conversation 64 (see) if we can find out what this means.
A: Did you buy that new computer?
B: Yeah, I did. But I 65 have bought it.
A: Why do you say so? Is there anything wrong with it?
B: Not exactly, but, as a matter of fact, it cost the way more than I 66 (expect) it to be.
A: 67 did it cost?
B: Let me just tell you it cost an arm and a leg!
When you say in American English that something costs an arm and a leg, it actually means that 68 price is very, very high, much 69 (high) than we can accept. Night Safari(夜间动物园). Our girls wanted to go to the zoo, and since we were in the minority,
we lose to the boys, who all wanted to the safari. We got the admission rate for students, which
was greatly since I still had enough money to buy a brochure about the park as well as anything
at the souvenir shops. The safari was scary but a really fun. As we took the ride through the park’s
