Will Eating Less Help You Live Longer?
If you want to slow aging, you might want to eat less. Researchers in the United States say eating less can slow the aging process of cells in the body.
John Price, a biochemistry professor at Brigham Young University in the U.S. state of Utah, with other researchers studied two groups of mice. One group was able to eat as 16 as it wanted. The researchers controlled what the second group ate. Their diet had 35 percent fewer calories than the first group of mice. Price said the second group of mice was more 17 and had fewer diseases. They were not just living longer. He and his team found that 18 calories slowed aging.
The researchers found that fewer calories slow down cells’ ribosomes (核糖体). Price explained that ribosomes are used to make important proteins (蛋白质). But with fewer calories, they slow down. This gives them more time to 19 themselves. Price used cars to explain this. “Like a car, a ribosome isn’t a simple 20 . It needs repairs to change the broken parts. When the glass of the car is broken,” he explained, “you don’t need to throw the 21 car away and buy a new one. It costs less to change the glass. ” Price said that because of this, it is 22 to break a whole ribosome when it starts to break down. “Instead, repairing single part of the ribosome makes ribosomes continue producing high quality proteins. This top quality production keeps cells and the whole body 23 well,” he added.
Earlier studies have suggested a connection between calorie reduction and slowed aging. However, this is first to show how the ribosomes can 24 aging. Price said the findings help to explain 25 exact our bodies’ ages are. And this may help us make more wise decisions about what we eat.

After a year of fights between American citizens and police officers, police in Alaska (阿拉斯加) are trying something different: Making 2017 a “Year of Kindness.” The police in Juneau, Alaska started Acts of Kindness to encourage citizens to do at least one act of kindness every day. In our life, success does not belong to (属于) a select group of individuals (个人). Success belongs to those who are willing to go after it and try their best to do what they have to do. Here are some useful practical ways for you if you want to be successful.
Desire Desire (渴望) is the strong wish to achieve a goal. Without desire you have nothing. Before you can run with desire, your goal must be clear, and it must also be exciting.
Show up Seventy percent of success in life is showing up. You can’t have a best seller, if you have never written a book. You can’t get your dream job, if you’re afraid to turn in an application. Showing up doesn’t guarantee(保证) success, but if you don’t show up, you won’t be successful.
Fail Unless you’re willing to have a try, fail unhappily, and have another try, success won’t happen. To have success, you have to do things the right way, but often the only way to do something right is to first fail at it. As Thomas J. Watson said, a simple formula (公式) for success is to double your rate of failure (失败). So welcome failure, become a student of failure, learn from failure, and soon you will be a success.
Work Harder Everyone runs, but everyone is not willing to run for an hour every day. Success is not about doing what the common person can’t do. It’s about doing what the common person is unwilling to do. And on a deeper level, it’s about creating habits that the common person is unwilling to create. It’s the habit of doing things with excellence thatcauses success.
Enjoy the Journey Success is a journey, not a destination (终点). Success is not a certain car or a certain house or a certain happy marriage. Success means the enjoyment of the journey. You have to enjoy the journey.
Someone once said, “If you don’t change how you are, you will always have what you’ve got.” You have to change, you will change, and you will be successful.
