Raised in a fatherless home, my father was extremely tightfisted towards us children.
His attitude didn’t soften as I grew into adulthood and went to college. I had to ride the bus whenever I came home. Though the bus stopped about two miles from home, Dad never met me, even in sever weather. If I grumbled, he’d say in his loudest father-voice, “That’s what your legs are for!”

I swallowed hard against the tears. He did care, after all.
On later visits, that spot of gray became my watchtower. I could hardly wait until I was close enough to watch for its secret movement above the greenery. Upon reaching home, I would find my father sitting innocently in his chair. “So! My son, it’s you!” he’d say, his face lengthening into pretended surprise.
I replied, “Yes, Dad, it’s me. I’m home.”

The British “Daily Telegraph”
Traditionally regarded as one of the safest planes in the skies, the Boeing 777’s reputation will have been damaged by the second fatal crash in less than a year. There are around 1,000 Boeing 777s in service, and the plane is a long distance machine, travelling some of the longest routes. It entered service in 1995 and the National Transportation Safety Board, which is responsible for monitoring US-made aircraft ,has recorded fewer than 60 incidents.
But the recent record hasn’t been exact with two major incidents-a crash at San Francisco airport last July, which causes three lives, and the crash-landing of a British Airways 777 at Heathrow in January 2008.
To our sadness, two days ago, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 lost contact flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The Malaysian disaster is very different from both the BA incident and the crash involving an Asian Airlines flights at San Francisco International Airport in July, which occurred shortly before landing, while the Malaysia airlines plane disappeared off the radar(雷达)during the early stages of the trip.
The accident at San Francisco in July was due to pilot error which led to the engines being set to idle because he believed the computer would maintain sufficient speed to keep the plane up in the air. The BA crash landing, which did not result
in any deaths, was finally found to have been caused by a block in the fuel line feeding the engine.
However, the Malaysia airlines plane disappeared off the radar during the early stages of the trip. No exact explanations have been given for the Malaysia airlines plane crash. First reports suggest that Zaharie Ahmad Shah, the 53-year-old Malaysian airlines pilot, was hugely experienced-having joined the carrier in 1981 and with 18,365 hours in the aircraft under his belt.

Many of the world’s countries have reached or are approaching zero population growth (ZPG). Nearly all such lands are economically well developed．They include much of Europe(including Russia), the United States, Canada, Japan. and Australia. As the rate of natural increase(RNI)declines, two things happen．First, the

An aging population can create many problems. Senior citizens require more health care and medical attention. Rather than paying into retirement programs, they begin to draw from their pensions. In the US, the Social Security program, according to many experts, will be used up by 2018. It will pay out more money than it takes in. Additionally, a great number of jobs go begging in search of people willing or entry level positions that pay low wages. With an able to do them. Before I studied psychology, I used to think that people would laugh when funny things occurred. While I was right about that, I discovered there are lots of other psychological factors that make people laugh other than the funny part of a joke. When someone laughs at a joke, there will usually be more than one reason that makes him laugh—and the more reasons there are, the more powerful the joke will be.
I was attending a stand-up comedy show in Egypt, and when the man started to make fun of pedestrians crossing streets, everyone laughed their hearts out. The main reason those people strongly laughed was that almost all of them felt angry towards pedestrians who crossed streets carelessly. The joke wasn’t only funny, it also made the audience feel that they were right about being angry at those pedestrians. That is, people were laughing both because of the funny joke and because of the happiness experienced as a result of the psychological support they got.
