Nestled at the top of a mountain, daring guests can spend the night hanging off the tree tops, or over a cliff face.‎ During the warmer months, the center hosts adventure nights out, where guests can sleep in their own portaledge, hanging several meters above the ground. A portaledge is a hanging tent system that is generally used by rock climbers on climbs. At Waldseilgarten, the tents are hung from thick branches of large free-standing trees, where guests can only ascend or descend with rope assistance.‎ Guests looking for more air and an extreme camping experience can choose to sleep on an overhanging platform, positioned amongst huge cliff faces measuring between 1000 and 2000 meters high. However, if that’s just a little too extreme, the resort also offers easier sleeping options, including cliff platforms between 100 and ‎ ‎300 meters high, or tree platforms between two or four trees, with easy ways to the ground at any time.‎ All guests partaking in an adventure night out will receive rope climbing training before spending a night in nature. Trained staff teach simple rope climbing techniques, and other useful skills for hiking and rock climbing.‎ Waldseilgarten seems to offer a camping experience you will definitely remember, however that experience doesn’t come cheap. A night sleeping in the trees in a portaledge will set you back $336 per person, while the cliff face ledges go for $1199. The cheapest option is the tree platforms, at $168 per person per night.‎ ‎21. Add two pieces of advanced 21st century technology — global positioning system (GPS) devices and the Internet — to get “geocaching”. ‎ The word geocaching comes from “geo” (earth) and “cache” (hidden storage). Geocachers log onto a website to find information about the location of a cache — usually a waterproof plastic box containing small items such as toys and CDs — along with a notebook where “finders” can enter comments and learn about the cache “owner”, the person who created and hid the cache. Finders may take any of the items in the cache but are expected to replace them with something of similar value. They then visit the website again and write a message to the owner.‎ Geocaching became possible on May 1, 2000, when a satellite system developed by the U.S. Department of Defense was made public. Using an inexpensive GPS device, anyone on earth can send a signal to the satellites and receive information about their position. This is basically a high-tech version of orienteering, the traditional pastime which uses maps and compasses instead of GPS to determine one’s location.‎ Geocachers are a very considerate group. Owners carefully choose a cache’s location to give finders an enjoyable experience, such as a beautiful view or a good campsite. They also consider the environmental impact of their cache since it could result in an increased number of visitors to an area. As for the content of the caches, owners and finders must only use items that are suitable for the whole family, as caches are found by geocachers of all ages. ‎ ‎29. What is geocaching according to the text?‎ A. A kind of entertainment.‎ B. A free time outdoor activity. ‎ C. A game for learning geography. ‎ D. A program to protect environment. ‎ ‎30. How can finders learn about the cache owners?‎ A. By meeting them. ‎ B. By getting on the Internet. ‎ C. By consulting the notebook. ‎ D. By sending signals to the satellites.‎ ‎31. What are needed in geocaching?‎ ‎ a. A GPS device. b. A map. c. A container. d. The Internet.‎ A. a; b; c B. b; c; d C. a; b; d D. a; c; d ‎ ‎32. What conclusion can we draw from the last paragraph?‎ ‎ A. Most geocachers are adults. ‎ ‎ B. Any item can be placed in the caches.‎ C. The caches should be put in a remote place.‎ ‎ D. Geocachers try to avoid environmental damage. ‎ D When I get my hands on a book of translated poems that includes the original (原著), I am extra pleased. I let the Spanish, French or Turkish imperfectly roll off my touch, imagining what the poet was thinking and feeling as she wrote the poems. I read the English version and think about it, but there is something about originals in the poet’s language that holds feelings or intentions that even the best translator can never fully draw out.‎ ‎ Jennifer Tseng’s Red Flower, White Flower made me wish I could read Chinese characters to continue my usual practice. The translated poems are beautiful, relatively short, seemingly simple. I wonder what they’d sound like in Chinese, what depth might be hidden in their true language. This is what I love about poetry, and Tseng has written the kinds of poems I love most to read.‎ ‎ Red flower, White flower connects poems about love, loss, types of relationships, the ending of relationships, communication and loneliness. The book is broken into three sections. The first section, “Red Flower” is full of poems about early love. It speaks to the past, desire, confusions and sometimes painful lessons. The central section, appropriately titled “The Fabled Bridge”, is a poetic prose account of the lifetime of a woman. The third and final section of the book, “White Flower” is about rethinking the past, moving in the present and looking towards the future. This section is really about hope. It is about taking the lessons learned, combining them with family stories, anecdotes and legends, and moving forwards into new life and new love.‎ ‎33. What’s the writer’s idea about the translated version of the poems?‎ A. It’s easier to understand.‎ B. It lacks something of the original.‎ C. It’s full of feelings of the translator.‎ D. It matches the beauty of the original.‎ ‎34. What language is Red Flower, White Flower first written in?‎ A. English. B. Spanish. C. Chinese. D. French.‎ ‎35. Red Flower, White Flower is mainly about a woman’s .‎ A. profession B. preference C. belief D. life ‎ ‎ ‎ 第二节(共5小题:每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ When you go on a trip, chances are that your excitement might spoil things. Do you have a reservation with us tonight?‎ M: Yes, it’s under the name Willis.‎ W: One moment…Willis, party of four, is that right?‎ M: Yes, that’s us!‎ W: Wonderful.I see half of your group has not yet arrived. You can have a drink at the bar while you wait.‎ M: Oh, I think my wife and I would prefer to sit down now.‎ W: Would you like a table by the window?‎ M: Oh, that would be great! And please bring us some ice water first.‎ W: OK. I can also take any other drink orders besides water.‎ M: We’ll definitely be ordering a bottle of red wine, and we may also order a bottle of white wine. ‎ W: Very good, sir. I’ll bring you our wine list right away, and I’ll let our wine expert Ralph know that you may have some ‎ questions for him.‎ M: Great, thanks.‎ Text 9‎ M: This is so much fun! I’ve never been to a horse race before.‎ W: My dad used to take me here when I was a kid. ‎ M: Wow! Do you know how to ride a horse?‎ W: Yeah, I’ve done it a few times. But I don’t think riding a horse and racing a horse are similar at all!‎ M: You’ve got a point there. So, when does the race start?‎ W: In less than five minutes. But there will be a dozen races today, so if the next one isn’t very competitive, we’ll still have a chance to see a good race later on.‎ M: Great. Hey, what are all those people doing over there?‎ W: They’re putting money on which horse will win the race.‎ M: How do they know who will win?‎ W: They don’t know for sure. It’s just a way to have fun. ‎ M: Ha-ha!‎ W: I’d never put my money on a horse, though. It seems like such a waste.‎ M: You can say that again! Oh, it looks like the race is about to start!‎ Text 10‎ All right, everyone. Thank you for coming in today. As you all know, we’re here to celebrate the career of Maurice Jones. Mr. Jones joined the company three decades ago. He worked in the mail room after he finished high school, and he got promoted to office manager after a few months. He stayed in that position for two years. To get his degree, Mr. Jones took night classes, and at the same time he could remain on the team full-time. His hard work and devotion to learning made him a perfect candidate for a management position. Mr. ‎ Jones continued to move up the ladder here, becoming the vice president of operations just five years ago. Mr. Jones will most definitely be missed. We will all remember his warm smile and strong will to succeed. I think everyone could learn a thing or two from Mr. Jones, including me. I’ve been with this company from the very beginning — almost 40 years — and I can tell you that this is one special man right here. Congratulations for making it all the way to retirement! Let’s give Mr. Jones the microphone now so he can say a few words...‎ 参考答案:‎ ‎1—5 BAACB 6—10 CAACB 11—15 CBBCA 16—20 ABACB
