All three of us were critically injured. Stacey’s brain injury was the most severe. Despite all attempts to save her, she died three days later. When I became conscious, I heard my husband talking to the organ donor coordinator(器官捐助协调员).‎ ‎ We knew that Stacey would want that because that’s the kind of person she was. She always wanted to assist people. She was always smiling and brought so much joy to others. She was friendly and enjoyed writing stories and poetry.‎ ‎ It has been a comfort to know that Stacey lives on in the lives of others. I have even met the family of one of Stacey’s kidney recipients (接受人). This little girl was 6 years old at the time of the transplant(移植). She was suffering from Nephrotic Syndrome. I saw pictures showing the effects of the Nephrotic Syndrome and the pictures of her after the transplant. They already showed an amazing difference. We correspond every year through letters, cards and pictures. The girl is doing really well at school and will be graduating from high school next year. I am so grateful that we have this relationship. I also feel relieved that my daughter has made so great a difference to a person’s life.‎ ‎ Over the years, I have had some kind of contact with all of the recipients except the heart recipient. I’m very sorry for that. I would love to hear something from the heart recipient’s family. There are so many things that I wonder about her. I wonder if she is anything like Stacey. Does she smile all the time? Does she enjoy writing stories and poetry? I do hope that they can contact us!‎ ‎ I feel guilty because I was the one driving in the accident which caused Stacey’s death. I also feel proud that my daughter has helped so many people.‎ ‎25. When did Stacey die from the traffic accident?‎ A. On May 28th, 1998 B. On May 29th, 1998‎ C. On May 31st, 1998 D. Dissatisfied D. Guilty ‎28. What has the writer been looking forward to doing?‎ A. Contacting the kidney recipient’s family. ‎ B. Seeing the heart recipient. ‎ C. Getting paid from the heart family.‎ D. Visiting kidney recipient’s family.‎ C Failing in something isn’t a really nice feeling, but Scotland’s Fettes College in Edinburgh wants to show its students that failure isn’t something to fear and is actually something to accept willingly!‎ The boarding school held “failure week” to celebrate taking risks and learning from them. Whether in sports or school, children often face lots of pressure to succeed and do well, and the school was becoming concerned.‎ ‎“Young people from all walks of life live in a high-pressure environment where they are trying very hard to achieve a level of perfection,” said Sue Bruce, head of personal and social education in the school.‎ ‎“This week at Fettes we have been focusing on one of the most misunderstood parts of success: failure. While we are often scared of failure, it is important to learn that it is only through failing, often many times, that we learn how to succeed. All through the week, we have looked at the experiences of some of the most successful inventors, artists and businessmen, who failed hundreds, if not thousands of times on their journey to success,” read a letter on Fettes‎ ‎College’s website.‎ To celebrate failure, students were encouraged to try something they’ve never done before, like playing an instrument or dancing in front of audiences. A number of students stepped up and tried things that they finally failed in, but they had fun and enjoyed the experience. “The concert was extremely enjoyable, proving that we should always try not to worry about failure and have a go!” read another note on the website. Students were also taught about famous people like J.K. Rowling and Richard Branson who failed many times before they finished what they set out to do.‎ ‎“If they let the fear of failure stop them from doing something, they are actually stopping themselves from learning, developing, and potentially succeeding,” said Bruce.‎ ‎29. What is the purpose of the boarding school to hold “failure week”?‎ A. To get the students involved in social activities. ‎ B. To teach the students how to get relaxed.‎ C. To make the students study even harder. ‎ D. To help the students accept and learn from failure.‎ ‎30. During the “failure week” the students could do the following things EXCEPT ___________?‎ A. taking risks ‎ B. learning from others’ experiences ‎ C. trying to entertain themselves ‎ D. trying something new ‎ ‎31. What can we learn from the passage?‎ A. Many successful people are lucky and achieve success easily.‎ B. The fear of failure can stop the students from learning and succeeding.‎ C. Because we are often scared of failure , we never succeed.‎ D. The students who failed in trying new things felt depressed. ‎ D Being an astronaut sounds cool, doesn't it? In space, they get to do some pretty amazing ‎ things, like floating in zero gravity.‎ However, there are also plenty of things that astronauts can't do because of their weightless environment, and that's very sad. What's worse, they can't even let their sadness show—because it's impossible to cry in zero gravity.‎ Of course, astronauts can still produce tears. But crying is much more difficult in space, reported The Atlantic in January. Without gravity, tears don't flow downward out of the eyes like they do here on Earth. This means that when you cry in space, your tears have nowhere to go—they just stick to your eyes.‎ In May 2011, astronaut Andrew Feustel experienced this during one of his spacewalks. “Tears,” he said, “don't fall off your eye... They just stay there.”‎ Besides making your vision unclear, this can also cause physical pain. Back on Earth, tears are supposed to bring comfort to the eyes. But that's not the case in space. The space environment dries out astronauts' eyes, and when tears suddenly wet the eyes, it can cause pain rather than comfort. “My right eye is painful like crazy.” Feustel told his teammate during the walk.‎ Since gravity doesn't work in space, astronauts need some extra help to get rid of the tears. Feustel chose to rub his eyes against his helmet to wipe the tears away. Another choice is to just wait—“When the tears get big enough they simply break free of the eye and float around,”astronaut Ron Parise told The Atlantic.‎ There are lots of small things—things like crying—that we are so used to on Earth. We usually take them for granted, until they become a problem in a totally different environment, like space. There, astronauts can't talk to each other directly. They also can't eat or drink in normal ways. They can't even burp(打隔), because there is no gravity to hold the food down in their stomach. If they do burp, they just end up throwing up everything in their stomach, according to the UK National Space Center. ‎ Thus, perhaps it's only space explorers who can honestly say:“Gravity, you're the best.”‎ ‎32.What can we conclude from Paragraphs 2 and 3?‎ A. Astronauts are unable to feel sad in space.‎ B. Astronauts produce fewer tears in space.‎ C. Tears produced in space don't flow downward. ‎ D. Tears produced in space flow down more slowly.‎ ‎33.What effect do tears have on astronauts?‎ A. They float around and cause trouble.‎ B. They bring comfort to them.‎ C. They make their vision clearer.‎ D. They cause physical pain. ‎ ‎34. What can the astronaut do to get rid of the tears?‎ A. Rub his eyes against his helmet to let the tears float forward.‎ B. Get the tears big enough to break away from his eyes.‎ C. Get the tears big enough to fall off of his eyes.‎ D. Rub his eyes by hand to let the tears float around.‎ ‎35. What's the seventh paragraph mainly about?‎ A. Suggestions on how astronauts can stay comfortable in space.‎ B. Why burping is impossible in space.‎ C. Other basic things that are difficult to do in space.‎ D. Things that humans can't do without gravity.‎ 第二节(共5小题; 每小题2分, 满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。(注意用AB代表E, AC代表F, AD代表G)‎ You know that you have everything to be thankful for:a loving family,a pretty good job,and a healthy working body.Still, you keep feeling that what you have just isn’t enough.Sure, you can be happier by making some life changes. 36 It will make you more likely to start enjoying that sunshine instead of complaining about sunburn.‎ Live in the present.‎ The people who are the happiest with their lives are able to enjoy and embrace the present moment. 37 Focus on what the day will bring you instead of what happened yesterday or what you’ll be able to change about tomorrow.‎ ‎ 38 ‎ Though your life may not be perfect in the moment, there are surely some things that you can be very grateful for, whether it’s your loving family, your amazing friends, your health, your cool new job,or your amazing home. You probably don’t have all of these things but surely there are a few things you can remind yourself to be grateful for every single day.‎ Stop comparing yourself to others.‎ Stop thinking about how big your neighbor’s house is,how great your friend Jack’s job is,or how perfect your best friend’s relationship is.You’ll never get anywhere if you compare yourself to others. 39 ‎ Hang out with people who are content with their lives.‎ Surround yourself with people who are good influences. They will show you that there are a variety of ways to be happy, and will maybe even give you some tips for how to approach difficult situations. 40 They are more likely to come up with some reasons to be unhappy.‎ A.Get regular exercise with friends every day.‎ B.The easiest way to be content with your life is to adjust yourself positively.‎ C.Be grateful for what you have.‎ D.But if you drop comparing completely, you’ll only be doing yourself a favour.‎ E.What if there is a major obstacle standing in your way?‎ F.Avoid people looking for reasons to be upset with their life. ‎ G.Take some time to enjoy exactly what you’re doing right now.‎ 第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第一节 完形填空 (共20小题; 每小题1.5分, 满分30分)‎ 阅读下面短文, 从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中, 选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。‎ During my second year of college, I was a part-time waitress in Chicago.
