One of the main reasons that people struggle to become successful is that they don’t have a clear idea of what they want to gain. They also have 36 ideas of the benefits they would like to enjoy, and they are short of a solid strategy for getting there.
This will often 37 to jumping around from one idea to another, but never really sticking to any of them. When results don’t come 38 , it’s easy to lose interest and move on to something that might bring faster success with less 39 . In these cases, it seems that success is too hard to reach.
If we don’t know exactly where we want to go, 40 can we possibly design a good strategy for getting there? So the first 41 toward success is always to know clearly what you want to 42 .

Think about the end result you want to create, and then 45 exactly what you will need to do in order to get there from where you are right now. 46 each step in order, and make a note of any troubles you are likely to face along the way. Thirdly have a solid plan for putting those steps into action . Once you start, make sure you put your plans into action, and 47 them in action. Finally, change your plan if 48 . Once you are moving forward toward your goal, it’s important to 49 unnecessary delays.
Success in any area of life 50 happens by accident. Those who understand the process correctly are the ones that succeed.

Think for a few seconds. If you are around people, stop and look around. Take a moment and observe the people walking by you or sitting at the tables near you. Most of the time, you don’t need to listen to their conversations or ask them what they’re thinking or trying to communicate. Directly or indirectly, everybody’s body language speaks louder than words.
Take for example, someone that is sad. You can easily tell by their behavior that they are not happy. They are annoyed and they walk about as if a dark cloud follows over them. On the other hand, someone that is happy walks about as if they are surrounded by sunshine. They smile with joy and their body shines with every step. This is body language.
Understanding basic body language helps one be a better communicator and person. I know a young boy who cannot for the life of him stay out of social trouble. He’s great at starting friendships but not maintain those relationships. A good reason why he has this trouble is due to his lack of understanding body language. Instead of noticing his friend needs time alone or is not interested in playing at the moment, the boy will press for the friend to do what he or she does not want to do. This quickly creates friction and a quarrel or even a fight will then occur.
Understanding body language is not always simple. The person you are trying to read may have other meanings. For example, the crossing of arms is widely understood as that the person is against what he or she is hearing. But, in many cases this can also mean the person is seriously thinking about what is being discussed. A third possibility is simply trying to keep warm.
I once heard that body language is really 95% of what we say. Words are only 5%. Our own efforts are the key to becoming better language communicators.
54. What would be the best title for the passage?
A. Body Language and Our Life B. Common Types of Body Language
C. Body Language Louder Than Words D. Secrets and Science of Body Language
55. Seeing a person with his arms crossed, we can safely say that _____.
A. he doesn’t agree to what he is hearing B. he is in deep and serious thought
C. he is simply trying to keep warm D. each of the above is possible
56. In the passage, the author presents his idea by _____.
A. making comparisons B. giving examples to support his argument
C. raising questions and answering them. D. expressing his opinions directly.
C
There is no doubt that the United States has entered a brand new age, because Donald Trump, the country’s 45th president, is very different from any president before him.
Unlike Hillary Clinton, his opponent, and most former US presidents, who entered the election after years of being politicians, Trump, 70, was a New York real estate businessman.
And he was not a presidential candidate who worked hard to keep a perfect public image of a man who was always caring, fair and wise.
Instead, Trump is famous for being bad-tempered, arrogant(傲慢的) and hateful toward those who disagree with him. He also hates immigrants, both from Latin America and the Middle East, for many problems in the US. This has caused a dangerous division in the country—a country made up of many various races.
But to his supporters, the fact that Trump is not a typical politician is actually one of his advantages. His habit of never hiding his opinions is also considered by many to be a sign that he is not a hypocrite like many politicians are.
“We have seen our country take a downturn in the eyes of the world. We need to go in a different direction, ” Binyomin Weisswasser, 39, a man from Chicago, told the Chicago Tribune. “Trump’s not a politician... I like that he is not always politically correct and speaks his mind. It gives me the feeling that what you see is what you get. You may not like it, but you know what it is.”
But interestingly, many who elected Trump actually followed the “lesser of two evils” principle—one that people use when faced with picking from two unpleasant options—simply because they didn’t think Clinton was a better choice.
“He’s the candidate I disagree less with, ” Jack Stucky, 20, a student at Norwestern University, told the Chicago Tribune. “I don’t think I’d say Donald Trump is going to be the best president ever, but I did think he’d be better than Hillary Clinton.”
It’s true that the US is entering a new age. It’s just not clear yet what kind of age it’s going to be.
57. What’s the difference between Trump and any president before him?
A. He was a businessman before the presidential election.
A. He didn’t try to keep a perfect public image.
B. He gained popularity by his bad reputation.
C. He is not always politically correct and speaks his mind.
58. The underlined words “a hypocrite” is closely related in meaning to _____.
A. a dishonest person B. a caring person
C. a shy person D. a selfish person
59. Where can we put the following paragraph?
“But no matter how people feel about him, Trump is going to take office as the US president on Jan 20, 2017.”
A. Between paragraph 3 and paragraph 4.
B. Between paragraph 4 and paragraph 5.
C. Between paragraph 6 and paragraph 7.
D. Between paragraph 8 and paragraph 9.
60. According to the passage, many Americans elected Trump because _____.
A. they considered Trump as the best president ever
B. they expected Trump to lead the US out of its downtown
C. they were convinced that their historic choice was right
D. they thought that Trump was more caring than Hillary Clinton
61. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. It reports on people’s different views on Trump’s victory in the election.
B. It explores the advantages Trump has over Hillary in the election.
C. It predicts what changes Trump will bring to the US.
D. It analyzes the reasons for Trump’s victory in the election.

My mom only had one eye. I hated her. She was such an embarrassment.
She ran a small shop at a flea market and collected old clothes and some other things to sell for the money we needed. Once during elementary school, it was field day, and my mom came. I was so embarrassed and wondered how could she do this to me? I threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school, my schoolmates asked me, "your mom only has one eye?!" and laughed at me.
I was so angry with my mom and wished that she would just disappear from this world. So I said to my mom, "Why don't you have the other eye?! If you're only gonna make me a laughingstock!" My mum did not respond. I guess I felt a little bad, but at the same time, I felt so good to have said what I wanted to say. Maybe it was because my mom hadn't punished me, I didn't think that I had hurt her feelings very badly.
For the words I had said to her earlier, there was something pinching at me in the corner of my heart. Even so, I hated my one-eyed mom and our desperate poverty. I told myself that I would become successful in the near future, so I studied very hard. Later I got accepted by the Seoul University, I left my mother and came to Seoul to study. Then I got married there.
I bought a house of my own. Then I had kids, too. Now I am living happily as a successful man. I enjoy the life in Seoul because it's a place that doesn't remind me of my mom and my past. This kind of happiness was getting bigger and bigger, until one day someone knocked at my door. It was my mom! And still with her one eye! It felt as if the whole sky was falling apart on me. My little girl ran away, scared of my mom's eye.
I screamed at her, "Who are you? I don't know you! How dare you come to my house and scare my daughter!" To this, my mom quietly answered, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address," and she disappeared out of sight.
One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. Lying to my wife that I was going on a business trip, I went back to participate in the reunion. After the reunion, I went down to the old shack, which I used to call a house, just for no reason. There I found my mom lying on the cold ground. I did not shed a single tear.
Then a piece of paper in her hand came into my eyes. It was a letter to me.
My son,
I think my life has been long enough now, and I won't visit Seoul anymore. But would it be too much to ask if I wanted you to come to visit me once in a while? I miss you so much. And I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I decided not to go to the school…for you. I'm so sorry that I only have one eye, and I was an embarrassment for you.
You see, when you were very little, you got into an accident and lost your eye. As a mom, I couldn't stand watching you having to grow up with only one eye. So I gave you mine. I was so proud of my son to see a whole new world for me with that eye. I was never upset at you for anything you did. During the couple of times that you were angry with me, I thought to myself, it's because he loves me.
My son…oh, my son…
Don't cry for me because of my death. I love you so much.
62. What’s the writer’s purpose of this passage?
A. To express how he hated his mother.
B. To share with us how his mother loved him.
C. To ask his mother for her forgiveness.
D. To show his regret for what he did with his mother.
63. Which of the following can be used to describe the mother in the passage?
A. Outgoing and distant. B. Determined and stubborn.
C. Considerate and unselfish. D. Generous and loving.
64. In paragraph 4, what does “something” refer to in the underlined sentence?
A. The embarrassment caused by the mother’s appearance.
B. The good feeling to have said what “I” want.
C. The thought that “I” hadn’t hurt the mother badly.
D. The regret for what “I” had said to the mother.
65. What can we infer from this passage?
A. The writer’s daughter had seen his mother before.
B. The writer’s wife knew little about his former life.
C. The writer went to apologize to his mother after the reunion.
D. The mother couldn’t tolerate the writer’s coldness in the end.
第二卷(两部分,共40分)
第四部分 任务型阅读(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)
请认真阅读下面短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入最适当的单词。注意:每空一个单词。
Yu Xu, one of China's first female fighter pilots who could fly a J-10 jet, died during a flight training in Tangshan in North China's Hebei province on Saturday. Almost all major media outlets
have sung high praise for Yu's spirit. People's Daily said: "She died for the peace and happiness of so many families ... The name of Yu and other heroes will be carved not only in stone, but also in the hearts of millions." However, despite being a news hit, a lot of social media platforms still pay much attention to pop stars, no matter their weddings, problematic marriages or just datings. The day Yu died, she did not even make it to the top-10 hot topics on micro blogs.
Some netizens have criticized such people for being too cold to news about heroes who defend our country. They even quoted from the book, Amusing Ourselves to Death, to express their concerns over people being misled by new media while referring to pop stars as "xi zi", a contemptuous(轻蔑的) term used for entertainment stars in the old days.
However, it is unnecessary to shame those netizens who were busy reading about film stars and other celebrities. We live in the age of social and new media, where the celebrities usually draw greater public attention than real heroes. This is partly because the agents(经纪人) of celebrities(名人)are very skilled at using social tools to expand their fan base for commercial gains.
Of course, we should admit the great influence entertainment has on people's minds and it helps the media industry make money. Pop stars do take up a lot of our time, and especially many young people waste their spare energy on them, their new songs, new movies, even rumors about their love life and other scandals. The domestic media industry needs improvement, some entertainment stars should improve their public images, but it is not right to call them "xi zi".
The media may be encouraging people to pay greater attention to celebrities than military heroes, but that does not necessarily mean people pay less respect to heroes than stars. The increasing number of reports about the pilot shows the heroes are worth people's added attention, and they get it.
Greater attention to celebrities doesn’t mean less respect for heroes

书面表达
At present, some of senior one students have problems with English study. What puzzles them is that it is difficult to adapt themselves to senior English study. Besides, they don’t know how to get high grades in English .
Therefore, I think it is developing good English study habits that counts. On one hand, good study habits can arouse students’ interest in English study. On the other hand, if students form good study habits, this will relieve their study pressure.
As far as I’m concerned, something should be done to develop good habits. Firstly, students must concentrate on what the teachers say and take notes in class. In addition, students should go over what they have learned and get up early to read English aloud. Secondly, if you have made a plan, you must stick to it and then you may find it not as difficult as it appears. Last but not least, find a good partner to study together with you, and it is a good way to keep you motivated.

书面表达(满分20分)

Text 6
M:Ella, what languages do you speak?
W:As you know, Korean is my first language. I also speak English and Chinese. How about you? What languages do you speak?
M:English, German, and French. While I was studying in Europe, I used French and German all the time. Now my French is not so good, but I do keep my German up.
W:How do you practice your German?
M:Oh, the man who lives next door—his name is Heinz—is from Berlin. He and I are always talking about Germany.
W:Well, all you need now is a neighbor from Paris!
Text 7
W:Can I talk to you for a moment, Tom?
M:Of course, Julia. Sit down. What is it?
W:I’ve decided to leave.
M:Leave?
W:Yes.

W:Well, yes. But there are other reasons.
M:I see you never liked working here
W:No, no. I’ve enjoyed working here, but……
M:But what?
W:Well, I haven’t had time for other things. I’ve worked here for four years. And I’d like to do something different.
M:What do you mean, something different?
W:I want to travel. You know, I have never been to other countries.
M:Haven’t you?
W:No, I haven’t. I want to live abroad and learn to speak a different language.
M:Well, what can I say? I’m really sorry. But I understand.
W:Thank you, Tom.
Text 8
W:Dad, what will we have for dinner?
M:I don’t know. Maybe fried fish, chicken soup and……
W:Oh, no, I’m tired of such things now.
M:I’m sorry. But that is the only thing I can cook. What do you want to have then?
W:I do wish Mom were at home. Why don’t we go and eat out for a change?
M:Oh, that’s a good idea. I like Kentucky Fried Chicken very much.
W:Dad, you always talk about fried chicken. Let’s have something different. I’d like to go to McDonald’s this time.
M:OK then. You’ll drive, won’t you?
W:No, I’m a bit tired today. You should drive.

M:And I’ll get some vegetables for myself, and a coffee.

W:I want to know if you saw or heard anything.
M:Did I see anything? Where?
W:In the road. Did you see anybody looking suspicious?
M:No, I don’t think I looked out of the window.
W:Can you remember if you heard anything? They can’t have done it completely silently. I came back late from a party and I parked it at about 11:30, and then I had a shower and went to bed.
M:No, I’m sorry. What have they taken?
W:Well, this morning I found the driver’s window smashed. There’s glass everywhere, and the CD player has gone.
M:How annoying! Is anything else missing?
W:Well, it could have been worse. Luckily, there wasn’t much in the car anyway.
Text 10
Advertisements often encourage us to believe that because someone has been successful in one field, he/she should be regarded as an authority in other fields. Advertisers know that there are certain people we admire because they are famous sportsmen, movie stars or singers, and that if we discover that a certain well-known personality uses a product, we will want to use it, too. This is why so many ads feature famous people. Advertisers may try to make us want a product by suggesting that most people, or the“best”people are using it and then we may want to follow them. No one likes to be worse than others and these ads suggest what we will be if we buy the product.
If you keep talking about something long enough, eventually people would pay attention to you. Many ads are based on this principle. If we hear the name of a product many times, we are more likely to find that this is the name which comes into our mind when the shop assistant asks, “What brand?”We usually like to choose things by ourselves, but if advertisers plant the names of their products in our heads in this way, they have helped to make the choice for us.
