第一节 (共15题:每小题2分,满分30分)

I’ve always had strong opinions of how love should be expressed. What I remember most about visiting my boyfriend’s parents is the loud tick of the clock as we silently ate our meal. I was quick to regard his family as cold. However, once, when we were about to drive home, my boyfriend’s father appeared and began to wash the windshield(挡风玻璃). I could sense that his dad was a caring man.
I learned another lesson about love later. My father often telephoned me early in the morning. “Buy Xerox. It’s a good share price” he would say when I answered the phone. My dad offered no pleasant greeting or inquiry(询问)about my life. This angered me and we often quarreled. But one day, I thought about my father’s success and realized his concern for my financial security showed how much he loved me. The next time he called and told me to buy a stock(股票), I thanked him.
The way I treat my friends is sometimes different from how they treat me. For example I always return phone calls without delay and regularly check in with old friends. I had one friend who rarely called, responding to my messages with short e-mails. “She isn’t a good friend!” I thought. My anger grew as the holidays approached(靠近). Then she came to a gathering I hosted and
handed me a beautiful dress I had fallen in love with when we last went window-shopping. I was shocked at her kindness, and felt bad for thinking her uncaring. Clearly I needed to change my expectations.
Far too often, I ignore unique expressions, eagerly expecting people to do things my way. This has left me feeling unloved. Over the years, however, I have learned to read others’ love signs better and get along well with them.
21. The writer finally realized that her father _____.
A. wasn’t a pleasant person B. was successful in finance
C. was caring about her D. was dissatisfied with her
22. How many examples has the writer given to show the lessons she has learned on love?
A. Two B. Three C. One D. Four
23. The writer writes this passage to show that _____.
A. different people have different ways to show their love
B. her good friend dislikes her way to care about others
C. she expects others to care about her in her way
D. people should treat others in a caring way
B
If you see a group of people dancing and singing on the street or in the railway station, you don't need to feel surprised. They are a flash mob(快闪族), which is a group of people who come together suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a short period of time, and then quickly break up. They are usually organized with the help of the Internet or other digital (数字的)communication network. At a predetermined time, they gather and perform some activities such as waving their hands and exchanging books. Then, they quickly break up before the police can arrive. Using mobile phones, the flash mob can change its place if the first one has been replaced for any reason.
Bill Wasik, senior editor(资深编辑)of Harper's Magazine, organized the first flash mob in Manhattan in May 2003 and the first successful flash mob came together on June 3, 2003—after the first attempt(尝试)was foiled at the Macy’s department store. Wasik claimed that the activity was designed to make fun of fashion seekers, and call attention to the cultural atmosphere(氛围).
Flash mob gatherings can sometimes shock people. Such an activity might seem amusing(有趣的)and untrue, but it also might frighten people who are not aware(意识到的)of what is taking place. Undoubtedly, flash mob can serve as good political tools in any direction. They also have great economic potential(经济潜力), such as using flash mob to advertise a product.
The flash mob is now becoming more and more popular. People use it to do many things. For example, in 2009, Michael Jackson’s fans took part in a flash mob to remember him. Hundreds of his fans gathered singing and dancing Michael’s famous song “Beat It” together. Flash mobs give people from all walks of life an opportunity to come together to create a memory.

B.Once the place for the activity is determined,it can't be changed.
C.The flash mob can be made use of in many fields just for fun.
D.The flash mob usually breaks up quickly for lacking(缺乏) of time.
26.The main purpose of the passage is ________.
A.to introduce what a flash mop is B.to encourage readers to do something for a flash mob
C. to interest readers D.to persuade readers to join in a flash mob
27.The writer's attitude towards the flash mob is ________.

Dear Gregory,
Merry Christmas! You are now the proud owner of an iPhone. You are a good and responsible 13- year-old boy and you deserve this gift. But with the acceptance of this present come some rules and regulations. Please read through the following list of rules. I hope that you understand that it is my job to help you to be a well-behaved, healthy young man that can live with technology without being ruled by it. Failure to obey the following list will result in the ending of your iPhone ownership.
1. It is my phone. I bought it. I pay for it. I am lending it to you. Aren’t I the greatest?
2. If it rings, answer it. It is a phone. Say hello and use your manners. Do not ever ignore a phone call if the screen reads “Mom” or “Dad”.
3. It does not go to school with you. Have conversations with your friends in person. That’s an important life skill. But half days, field trips and after school activities will require special consideration.
4. If it falls into the toilet, breaks up on the ground or disappears into thin air, you are responsible for the replacement or repair costs. Mow(修剪) lawns, take up babysitting or save up your birthday money. Accidents will happen, so you should be prepared.
5. Turn it off, silence it and put it away in public—especially in a restaurant, at the movies or while speaking with another human being. You are not a rude person. Do not allow your new toy to change that.
6. Live within your experiences. They will be stored in your memory forever. Don’t take too many pictures and videos. There is no need to document everything.
7. Learn to live without it. Be bigger and more powerful than your “FOMO”—fear of missing out. Leave your phone at home sometimes and feel safe and secure in that decision. It is not alive, nor is it an extension of your body.
8. Keep your eyes up. See the world happening around you. Stare out a window. Listen to the birds. Take a walk. Talk to a stranger. Wonder without Googling.
9. If you mess up, I will take away your phone. We will sit down and talk about it. We will start over again. You and I, we are always learning. I am on your side and we are in this together.
Love,
Mom

How to be Creative
Most of us think that creativity is a quality belonging only to artists, writers, or dancers, rather than ourselves. 36 The following tips are a great beginning for developing our creativity.
1. Get out of your comfort zone
We eagerly accept the familiar and fear the unknown. Break out of your usual patterns(模式)and welcome creativity into your life. As stated(陈述) earlier, the human brain was designed to recognize patterns(模式). 37 In fact, our comfort zone is nothing more than a collection of patterns. As we become more efficient(有效的)at recognizing and using patterns, we rely less on creativity to find new paths(路). We should force(迫使)ourselves out of our comfort zones and open up new possibilities.
2. Try different things
If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got. We are used to habits and routines(常规), and creativity hates routines. If you usually drive to work, take the subway for a few days. 38 Interrupt(打破)your routine, experiment and try something new. New things are often creative, but the same old thing never is.
3. 39
Having a great idea is not enough; you must work to make it a reality. Have you ever seen a new product and realized that you thought of the same thing long ago? Yet someone else is making money with “your” idea. 40 The difference between a dreamer and a doer is action. Do whatever it takes to bring your ideas to life. If you can put them into practice, you are well on your way to improving your creativity in all areas of your life.
A. Take action
B. Seek several choices
C. Think from the other person’s point of view
D. If you normally eat in the office, have lunch under a tree
A. The truth is that we are all born with the ability to be creative
B. We continue to create patterns and routines for almost everything we do
C. We all have great ideas sometimes, but only a few people turn their ideas into realities
