In the PISA survey, which compares reading, math and science knowledge of 15-year-olds around the world, Finland is not only the top European country but also competes with Asian giants like Shanghai, Singapore and South Korea. But what makes the educational system in this small country so different from others in the ‎ western world?‎ Until the 1960s Finland’s school system had been influenced largely by its neighbor, the Soviet Union. Most students left school after six years; some went on to private schools. Only the wealthy ones got a better education. In the middle of the 1960s the Finnish government saw the need to change and modernize their education system if they wanted to be internationally competitive. Lawmakers made a simple decision: a basic school for all the 7- to 16-year-olds. Compulsory education begins at 7. The government makes it possible for all children to attend preschool as well.‎ Most of Finland’s schools get their money from the government. The people who are in charge of the education system, from teachers to officials are trained teachers, not politicians like in other countries.‎ Teachers work with their pupils in school as much as possible. When teachers are not with the pupils, they spend a lot of time in schools working on the curriculum and new projects. Schools in Finland are small, at least for international standards. So teachers know every pupil in their school and try everything to succeed with their pupils. That is why dropout rates are low compared to other countries. In contrast to other nations, teachers in Finland are highly respected. Finland selects its teachers very carefully: only talented students go on to a university and receive a master’s degree in education. Finland only takes the best to educate its youth.‎ All Finnish children, whether they come from the city or the country, whether from a rich or poor family, have the same chances in education. There are not so many differences between the wealthy and poor, as in America or other western European countries. Education experts say that there is very little difference between very good and the worst students. Two thirds of Finnish pupils move on to higher education, the highest rate in the European Union.‎ ‎24.What did the Finland government do in the middle of the 1960s?‎ A. They changed the school system.‎ B. They lengthened preschool education.‎ C. They encouraged students to go to private school.‎ D. They learned modern education from neighboring countries.‎ ‎25.We can learn from the text that ______________.‎ A. the children in Finland are educated equally B. the children in Finland attend preschool at the age of six C. the school system in Finland is better than that in ‎Singapore D. the school equipment in Finland doesn’t meet international standards ‎26The author mentions Shanghai, Singapore and South Korea to show________.‎ A. Asian countries are successful in school education B. the school system in Finland has been very successful C. students in these places are better than those in European countries D. theeducational system in Asia is different from that in the western world ‎27.What can be the best title for the text?‎ A. What Differences European Schools Have B. What Good Schools Provide Students with C. Why Finland’s School System Is Successful D. Why Finland’s School System Has Changed C I am a good mother to three children. I have tried never to let my passion stand in the way of being a good parent.‎ I no longer consider myself the center of the universe. I show up. I listen. I try to laugh. I am a good friend to my husband. I have tried to make marriage vows(誓言) mean what they say. I am a good friend to my friends, and they to me. Without them, there would be nothing to say to you today.‎ So here’s what I want to tell you today:Get a life. A real life, not a desire of the next promotion(提升), the bigger paycheck, the larger house. Get a life in which you are not alone. Find people you love, and who love you. And remember that love is not leisure(休闲); it is work. Pick up the phone. Send an e-mail. Write a letter. And realize that life is the best thing and that you have no business taking it for granted.‎ It’s so easy to waste our lives, our days, our hours, and our minutes. It’s so easy to exist instead of to live. I learnt to live many years ago. Something really, really bad happened to me, something that changed my life in ways that,if I had my choice,it would never have been changed at all. And what I learned from it is what, today, seems to be the hardest lesson of all.‎ I learned to love the journey, not the destination(目的地). I learned to look at all the good in the world and try to give some of it back because I believed in it, completely and totally. And I tried to do that,in part,by telling others what I had learned.‎ By telling them this:read in the backyard with the sun on your face. Learn to be happy. And think of ‎ life as a deadly illness, because if you do,you will live it with joy and passion as it ought to be lived.‎ ‎28.What can be inferred from the passage ?‎ A. the author is a success in personal life B. the author didn’t try her best to work well C. the author spent all her time caring for her children D. the author likes traveling very much ‎29.How did the author form her view of life?‎ A. Through social experience.‎ B. By learning from her friends.‎ C. Through an unfortunate experience.‎ D. From her children and husband.‎ ‎30.By the underlined sentence “It’s so easy to exist instead of to live.” in the fifth paragraph, the author really means that people tend to A. make a living rather than live a real life B. work rather than enjoy life C. waste a lot in life D. forget the most important lessons in life ‎31.What’s the author’s attitude toward work?‎ A. Do it well to serve others.‎ B. Earn enough money to make life better.‎ C. Try your best to get a higher position and a pay raise.‎ D. Don’t let it affect your real life.‎ D One of the most important things in the world is friendship. In order to have friends, you have to be a friend. But how can you be a good friend at school?‎ Listen — Listen when they are talking. Don’t say anything unless they ask you a question. Sometimes it’s not necessary for you to have anything to say; they just need someone to talk to about their feelings.‎ Help them — If your friend is ever in need of something, be there to help them. You should try to put them first, but make sure you don’t do everything they want you to do. Try to take an extra (额外的 ‎) pencil or pen with you to classes in case (以防) they forget one. Have a little extra money in your pocket in case they forget something they need.‎ Be there for them — Try to make something for your friend to help make them feel better in hard times. Making cards and encouraging them are among the nicest things you can do for a friend. Marilyn Monroe, a famous U.S.‎ actor, once said, “I often make mistakes. Sometimes I am out of control. But if you can’t stay with me at my worst, you are sure not to deserve (值得) to be with me at my best.” Always remember this! If you don’t want to stay with your friends when they’re in hard times, then you don’t deserve to be with them when they’re having a good time!‎ ‎______ — Try to make plans with your friends. Go shopping, go for ice cream, have a party, go to a movie and so on. Take time to know each other even better by doing something you both enjoy. By planning things together, you both can have a good time. And you’ll remember these things when you’re all old!‎ ‎32.While your friend is talking to you about his or her feelings, you should _____.‎ A. give him or her some advice B. just listen unless asked C. calm him or her down D. share your feelings as well ‎33.When we provide help for our friends, we should _____.‎ A. try to do everything for them B. put them before ourselves C. change their bad habits first D. ignore their faults ‎34.What can we learn from Marilyn Monroe’s words?‎ A. Life without a friend is death. B. A friend is easier lost than found.‎ C. A friend in need is a friend indeed. D. A man is known by his friends.‎ ‎35.What is the passage mainly about?‎ A. How to find a good friend. B. How to help friends in trouble.‎ C. How to be a good friend. D. How to make more friends.‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项是多余项。‎ Ways To Manage Stress Creatively Stress is a huge problem for us all. Here’s what I’ve learned and applied to manage stress using my creativity.‎ ‎1.36.‎ Putting my creativity and my work first, I often neglected to eat, exercise, even stand up from my desk. I now realize that how I feel physically (and mentally) is more important than the work I create. Taking care of myself includes all natural remedies(疗法). I’m learning how to say no to social pressures, in favor of my own well being.‎ ‎2. Don’t worry about what other people think of you.‎ This is easier said than done, but I promise it does come with age.37.A lot of people do offer unsolicited(自发的) advice. It is human nature to want to help other people. But if that advice is coming from a place of control or judgment, RUN in the opposite direction.‎ ‎3. Don’t compare.‎ ‎38.Most people are not as happy as they describe themselves to be. The best advice I ever heard was this:Don’t compare your inside to other people’s outside. Be open to new experiences, be kind to yourself and accepting of the journey which is life. Being present means not thinking into the future, or harping(唠叨) on the past. The coolest thing about being present is that CREATIVITY LIVES IN THE MOMENT.39.‎ ‎4. Your intentions matter.‎ ‎40.What was your intention? I remind myself to enjoy the process of my creative fun stuff, it’s for me. If others like it, great, but it’s the enjoyment of my creative intention, in the moment, that I treasure.‎ A. Stop judging B. Each moment is UNIQUE C. We have to work in order to live D. Take care of yourself--Mind AND Body E. Stress is often caused by comparison to others F. It’s important to remember why you started doing something G.
