Some families choose to take expensive vacations, such as to the Grand Canyon. However, my favorite family vacation was different. Nine years ago, my parents created a grand plan to build the home of their dreams in a neighborhood Honeymoon Hill. As the dream was launched smoothly, our family of five squeezed tightly into the vehicle to go there.
The old home was gradually turned into the construction management office for the new one. As the new home began to talk shapes, it siphoned our attention ad our primary hone became the place where we merely slept. The three of us children worked and became soon-to-be-skilled laborers. I quickly learned that personalities were readily displayed when we painted a wall. Some stuck to their claims, stopping others entering their area. Others systematically painted their wall, working from top to bottom in an organized fashion. And one drew smiley faces and signed his name there.
Of course, the journey didn't come without a few lessons learned. I came to understand that paint would never be removed from a rag, however many times I washed it. We learned other important lessons when my dad attempted to shingle (盖)a roof in the air: safety is indeed important, and sometimes money is well spent in the hiring of a professional.
A Mother's Day dinner served on a temporary table could actually taste far better at the end of a long day's work than the everyday meals we remembered back at the old home. Most importantly, I learned my family can forgive each other's barks in close quarters. This project began to matter much to each of us in our own way.
When we finally completed the construction after 28 months, the resort we now call home went beyond all the other tours, and our family grew closer because of it.
24. What made the author 's family vacation different from others?
A. His feeling of it. B. The length of it.
C. The way of spending it. D. The money spent on it.
25. What does he underlined word "siphoned 'in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. ignored B. Changed C. Distracted D. Attracted
26. What impressed the author most during the vacation?
A. The understanding of each family B. The dinner his mother cooked
C. The work done by all the children D. The process of building the houses
27. What may be the best title for the text?
A. A Perfect New House B. A Special Family Vacation
C. The New House Untied Us Again D. Families Worked Hard to Build a House

When she was found off the coast of California four years ago, the fur seal, known as Ziggy
Star, was skinny and fragile. She was unfit to return to the wild. And though a professional rescue
team took her in to care for her, Ziggy continued to decline. "I wouldn’t have given her next week,” says Uriarte, a surgeon who led a recant first-of-its-kind brain aeration an the seal.
The operation was the first of its kind to treat hydrocephalus in fur seals. The surgical team at Tufts was unable to find any documented evidence of a similar procedure, so they needed a lot of preparation to operate on Ziggy's brain. The biggest concern in operating on Ziggy was how to control the animal's anesthesia (Uf ). “When they’re under aesthesis their body’s reaction includes decreasing their heart rate, blood pressure, arid breath, "says Flower, describing the special challenges of operating on seals. On the day of her surgery, Flower, who observes Ziggy and the other animal’s care, says that she and her team “were all quite anxious not rowing what would happen!". Mowing quickly was extremely important; the longer she was under anesthesia, the more likely that she could lose her breathing, says the surgeon. The seal had been kept bad to prevent water from entering the cut on her head.
Now, Ziggy is eating a full diet and is beginning to gain weight again. " Recently I've allowed her to go swimming, " says Flower. However, the source of Ziggy's neurological disorder is still a mystery. “My theory is that when she was found, she had a head injury,” Uriarte says.
“Hit by a boat maybe … That happens a lot with seals. I don’t think there's enough information to make that assumption. We just don’t know what happened to her.”
28. When first found, Ziggy Star looked___.
A. thin and weak B. active and excited
C. bloody and fierce D. strong and energetic
29. What was the most challenging task on the day of the operation?
A. Helping the seal regain her breathing.
B. Using anesthesia properly on the seal.
C. Making full preparations for the operation.
D. Balancing the functions of the seal's organs.
30. What can we learn about Ziggy after the operation?
A. She is strong enough to live in the wild.
B. She is suffering from heart rate disorder.
C. She has already became as heavy as before.
D. She is recovering her health from a brain operation.
31. What is probably the author's purpose in writing the text?
A. To show human’s love for a creature. B. To find out a way to operate as a seal.
C. To remember an injured seal in danger. D. To explore the reasons for a seal's injury.

Yelp, the San Francisco Internet company that makes reviews of restaurants and other businesses across a large part of America, is getting into the food delivery business.
Today, the company has announced that it has agreed to acquire Eat24, a food company that delivers food to homes on behalf of partner restaurants. Yelp is paying $134 million for the company-$75 million in cash and the test in stock. Eat24 works with 20,000 restaurants in more than l,500 cities all over the U.S.
On Yelp's reviews site, you can find new restaurants to suit your tastes, and now that the company is acquiring Eat24, the idea is that it will also let you take the next step: order food to your door.
“If you're looking at a restaurant, you want to be able to book that restaurant,” Yelp co-founder and CEO Jeremy said in a Tuesday interview, “If we can integrate (融入)that into the Yelp
experience, it makes the site much better.”
The move is just one way that some of Internet's most recognizable names are branching into online food delivery to improve their existing business. Last August, payments company Square bought Caviar, a high-end quick food delivery service. And that same month, Ubet tested a fast food delivery service called UberFRESH, which aimed to deliver meals from local restaurants to customers in less than 10 minutes.
In each case, food delivery can provide an added source of income, and it can also help these companies push the use of their existing services. The market for food delivery is hardly small, and mobile technologies can speed up the process, potentially expanding the business even further.
32. How does Yelp pay for the company Eat4?
A. Totally by cheque. B. Totally in cash. C. Partly in stock. D. Only in credit.
33. What can customers NOT do on the new Yelp's website?
A. Finding the restatements they like. B. Booking a restaurant they like.
C. Ordering food to their door. D. Enjoying much cheaper food.
34. What does the underlined word "acquire" in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Bargain. B. Claim. C. request. D. Purchase.
35. From the passage, we can infer that many companies___.
A. begin to set up their own food branches
B. make little money from their existing business
C. begin to attach importance to food delivery making
D. give up the present business and turn to food taking

If you're living in a part of this beautiful planet where there is not much sunlight then using solar energy could be a problem. Of course if you live in desert areas, the sun produces much sunshine for the most part of the year and it is ideal for solar energy collecting. 40 Therefore if you need electricity or hot water during the night, like many of us do, it can be a problem. You'll need battery systems that can store solar energy for later use.
