been split into the following groups: private sector, public sector, community sector and
partnerships.
What are the categories?
There’re five categories which are based on the Waste Hierarchy( 层 级 ). We

Over the next decade, technology will decimate more jobs in many professions.
Some robots already cost less to operate than the salaries of the humans they
replace, and they are getting cheaper. Boston Consulting Group predicts that, by 2025,
the operating cost of a robot that does welding(焊接) will be less than $2 per hour, for
example. That's more affordable than the $25 per hour that a human welder earns today
in America.
Uber and many other companies are working on developing cars and trucks that
don't need a driver in the driver's seat. According to the American Trucking
Associations, approximately 3 million truck drivers were employed in the United States
in 2010,and 6. 8 million others were employed in other jobs relating to trucking activity.
So roughly one of every 15 workers in the country is employed in the trucking business.
We could be talking about millions of jobs disappearing in the early 2020s.
And then there is the " Gig Economy(零工经济 ) " that has some businesses moving
toward part-time, on-demand employment. Uber has already done this to taxi drivers,
and other technology companies are doing it to a wide range of jobs. A study by Intuit
predicted that, by 2020, 40% of American workers will be self-employed, and that
full-time jobs will be harder to find. We are talking about 60 million people in this
category. The problem is that not only do such part-time workers lack reliable full-time
jobs and sick pay, but they can't enjoy health insurance and longer-term benefits.
The measures to be taken are to raise trade barriers. But closing the doors to
foreign trade won't bring jobs back. It will only slow the global economy and hurt
American exports, shrinking the U. S. economy and accelerating job loss.
24. The underlined word “decimate" in Paragraph l can be replaced by“____. A. make someone interested in B. equip someone for
C.wipe out D.bring back
25. What will happen with technologies developing according to the text?
A. Robots will become smarter and smarter.
B. Uber's labor cost will be lower and lower.
C. More and more truck drivers will be needed.
D. Taxi drivers can enjoy more insurance health.
26. Which of the following does the writer agree on?
A. Welcoming foreign trade.
B. Offering more part-time jobs.
C. Using fewer robots to stop job loss.
D. Developing more new technologies.
27. What's the writer's main purpose in writing the text?
A. To show technology advances in our daily life.
B. To prove technologies cause low incomes.
C. To introduce what the Gig Economy is.
D. To warn the Gig Economy is coming.

Daniel Anderson, a famous psychologist, believes it’s important to distinguish
television’s influences on children from those of the family. We tend to blame TV, he
says, for problems it doesn’t really cause, overlooking our own roles in shaping
children’s minds.
One traditional belief about television is that it reduces a child’s ability to think and
to understand the world. While watching TV, children do not merely absorb words and
images (影像). Instead, they learn both explicit( 明显的) and hidden meanings from
what they see. Actually, children learn early the psychology of characters in TV shows.
Furthermore, as many teachers agree, children understand far more when parents watch
TV with them, explaining new words and ideas. Yet, most parents use an educational
program as a chance to park their kids in front of the set and do something in another
room.Another argument against television is that it replaces reading as a form of
entertainment. But according to Anderson, the amount of time spent watching television
is not related to reading ability. TV doesn’t take the place of reading for most children;
it takes the place of similar sorts of recreation, such as listening to the radio and playing
sports. Things like parents’ educational background have a stronger influence on a
child’s reading. “A child’s reading ability is best predicted by how much a parent
reads.” Anderson says.
Traditional wisdom also has it that heavy television-watching lowers IQ ( 智 商 )
scores and affects school performance. But here, too, Anderson notes that no studies
have proved it. In fact, research suggests that it’s the other way around. “If you’re smart
young, you’ll watch less TV when you’re older,” Anderson says. Yet, people of lower
IQ tend to be lifelong television viewers.
For years researchers have attempted to show that television is dangerous to
children. However, by showing that television promotes none of the dangerous effects
as conventionally believed, Anderson suggests that television cannot be condemned
without considering other influences.
28. By watching TV, children learn _________.
A. images through words B. more than explicit meanings
C. more about images than words D. little about people’s psychology
29. Which of the following is most related to children’s reading ability?
A. Radio-listening B. Television-watching
C. Parents’ reading list D. Parents’ educational background
30. Anderson believed that _________.
A. the more a child watches TV, the smarter he is
B. the younger a child is, the more he watches TV
C. the smarter a child is, the less likely he gets addicted to TV
D. the less a child watches TV, the better he performs at school
31. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To advise on the educational use of TV. B. To describe TV’s harmful effects on children.
C. To explain traditional views on TV influences.
D. To present Anderson’s unconventional ideas.

Does Fame Drive You Crazy?
Although being famous might sound like a dream come true, today's stars, feeling
like zoo animals, face pressures that few of us can imagine. They are at the center of
much of the world's attention.Paparazzi (狗仔队) camp outside their homes,
cameras ready . Tabloids ( 小 报 ) publish thrilling stories about their personal
lives . Just imagine not being able to do anything without being photographed or
interrupted for a signature!
According to psychologist Christina Villarreal,celebrities-famous people-worry
constantly about their public appearance.Eventually, they start to lose track of who they
really are, seeing themselves the way their fans imagine them, not as the people they
were before everyone knew their names . "Over time , "Villarreal says , "they feel
separated and alone."
The phenomenon of tracking celebrities (名人) has been around for ages.In the 4th
century BC,painters followed Alexander the Great into battle, hoping to picture his
victories for his admirers. When Charles Dickens visited America in the 19th century,
his sold-out readings attracted thousands of fans, leading him to complain about his lack
of privacy.Tabloids of the 1920s and 1930s ran articles about film-stars in much the
same way that modern tabloids and websites do.
Being a public figure today , however , is a lot more difficult than it used to
be.Superstars cannot move about without worrying about photographers with modern
cameras. When they say something silly or do something ridiculous, there is always the
Internet to spread the news in minutes and keep their "story" alive forever.
If fame is so troublesome, why aren't all celebrities running away from it?The
answer is there are still ways to deal with it . Some stars stay calm by surrounding
themselves with trusted friends and family or by escaping to remote places away from big cities . They focus not on how famous they are but on what they love to do or
whatever made them famous in the first place.
Sometimes a few celebrities can get a little justice.Still, even stars who enjoy full
justice often complain about how hard their lives are. They are tired of being famous
already.
32.It can be learned from the passage that stars today ______ .
A. are often misunderstood by the public
B. can no longer have their privacy protected
C. spend too much on their public appearance
D. care little about how they have come into fame
33.What is the main idea of Paragraph 3? ______
A. Great heroes of the past were generally admired.
B. The problem faced by celebrities has a long history.
C. Well-known actors are usually targets of tabloids.
D. Works of popular writers often have a lot of readers.
34.What makes it much harder to be a celebrity today? ______
A. Availability of modern media.
B. Inadequate social recognition.
C. Lack of favorable chances.
D. Huge population of fans.
35.What is the author's attitude toward modern celebrity? ______
A. Disappointed. B. Sceptical. C. Disapproving. D. Sympathetic.

How to test best
It’s back to school, which means it’s back to tests. Which might also mean it’s
back to being majorly stressed out . 36 Here are some simple ways to prepare thoroughly for tests.
Schedule study time.
Trying to do all studying the night before a test makes it impossible to master all
the material. 37 Instead, prepare for a test by scheduling study time each day for
several days before.
Use your time wisely.
38 Also, make sure you have all the supplies you need to study so you don’t
lose focus.
While studying, be sure to make regular short breaks. Get a snack, take a bathroom
break or play a quick computer game when it feels as if your brain is about to explode.
39
Studying with a parent or friends can help you understand the material better and
to learn from one another. Have every person or pair take a part of the material, and
come up with questions to quiz the group.
Keep the group small. Have everyone take turns as the group leader, who will
assign the material, and make sure that conversation stays on what is being studied.
Don’t forget last-minute preparation.
Have your sharpened pencils and other things in your bag ready the night before
the test. It’s important to get a good night’s sleep and then eating a healthy breakfast the
next morning. 40
Also, studying all the way up until test time can only create more anxiety. Stop
studying an hour before hand.
A. This way, both your mind and body are fully prepared.
B. Before studying, clear your desk so you can concentrate.
C. Stay cool before the test.
D. It doesn’t have to be this way.
E. Form a study group.
F. It will also make you tired and stressed on the day of the test.
G. This will help you store important information.第三部分 英语知识运用 (共两节,满分 45 分)

第二节 书面表达
Recently, a week-long activity entitled “Smart-phone Free Weekend” will be going on in
our school. To be honest, I terribly desire to participate in the activity.
Using smart phones in schools, on one hand, can greatly bring much convenience in our
daily life and make us students keep pace of any newest information we need. On the other hand,
smart phones are depriving us of our face-to-face communication skills. Therefore, I’m keenly
supportive of such a weekend, when I plan to get some outdoor exercise and help my parents
with some housework. In addition, I can hopefully do some reading of books in a peaceful
atmosphere.
To the best of my belief, it is so significant an activity for us students, so I am determined
to share it with my classmates, calling on them all to passionately participate in it.
Yours,
Li Hua

Tuesday. Don't forget next Monday is a holiday and you'll have no class. You are
free to go, everyone but you, Jack. Could I have a minute before you take off?
M: Sure. Um, is there a problem?
W: I've finished grading the tests. I wanted to talk to you before returning them to the
class.
M: Oh, don't tell me that I failed another exam! I tried so hard.
W: You didn't fail. But in fact you got the highest grade in the class. I'm concerned
about how you accomplished this.
M: Well, I didn't cheat, if that's what you think. I've actually changed my study habits,
planning my study time better so that I don't wait until the last day to study. It's
made a world of difference in how well I learn the material.

M: (Whispering) How long is it going to last? We've been here for hours.
W: Shhh !
M: (Whispering) I want to go out.
W: Shhh !
M: (Whispering) I'm going out. I'll wait for you outside.
(After the concert)
W: How could you do this to me? How could you just walk away in the middle of the
concert? That was rude.M: You told me this was a Jazz concert, but it wasn't.
W: I thought you would like it. I did have two tickets for Jazz, but I exchanged them for
this concert. You told me you liked classical music, so I...
M: Forget it, Daphne. In fact, I shouldn't have walked away like that. I apologize.
W: Don't be silly. Why don't we go to a movie? I want to make up.
M: Good idea, but let's go for a cup of coffee first.
W: All right. It's on me.

It took George quite a while to find a parking place for his car, and in the end he
had to leave it in a narrow street, some way away from the dentist's. His appointment
was at five and he still had twenty minutes to spare. He crossed into the square and sat
down on a bench, partly to enjoy the last of the afternoon sun, but also to calm his
nerves. He hated the visits to the dentist.
Suddenly, he saw a red sports car like his, pull out of the street where he had parked.
The car was soon out of sight. George felt in his pockets for his keys: they were not
there. "My car!" he exclaimed in a loud voice, which made several people stare at him.
He got up and ran across the square, then down the narrow street. But he discovered his
car was concealed behind a larger one. He was relieved to find his keys still in the car.
