We all have our own summer traditions. In 1939, for my thirteen-year-old great-grandmother Toby, summertime meant going to the Muny Theatre. Every summer, The Muny would present live professional musicals that were sponsored so that even the low-income people could see them. Every summer Sunday, Toby and her friend Sylvia had a standing date to watch a Broadway at America's oldest outdoor musical theater.
After lunch, Toby packed herself a peanut-butter sandwich for dinner and threw some change into her pocket for ice cream, and headed to Sylvia's house so that they could walk together to Forest Park. An hour later, they arrived at the air-conditioned Missouri History Museum, where they could cool off a little during the hottest part of the afternoon. Toby and Sylvia's favorite part of the museum was the antique dress show, After a quick stop, they jumped to the Muny Theatre.
Most of the time they would get to the theater early, before the gate opened for audiences. Instead of waiting for the gate to open, Toby and Sylvia would climb over the back fence and run straight to their favorite seats in the front center row of the "free seats" section. Toby loved everything about these breathtaking musicals—from the actors and actresses to their costumes. But Toby's favorite parts were the joyful music and dancing, and the ice cream she bought.
The theater was really something special to my great-grand-mother, and that love hasn't left my family. My grandmother took theater lessons as a child instead of dance classes like her friends did. My mom and all her siblings (兄弟姊妹)acted in plays when young. My aunt starts a children's theater company in New Jersey, and my mom runs a performing arts camp in Pennsylvania.
I am lucky that theater and music are such a big part of my life, and I am so grateful to the continuing influence of my great-grandmother.

Children and young adults who are hooked on computer games seriously will be offered help and care by the UK's National Health Service (NHS) following the launch of the country's first specialist clinic. The service will treat children and young adults aged 13 ——25.
Concerns surrounding the length of time children and teenagers are spending online playing games are growing, specifically the effect it can have on a young person's mental health. Gaming addiction for children and young adults is now officially recognized as a medical condition after the World Health Organisation (WHO) included it in their International Classification of Diseases. NHS chief executive Simon Stevens said in a meeting: uHealth needs are constantly changing, which is why the NHS must take actions——this new service is a response to a new problem, part of the increasing pressures that children and young people are exposed to these days."
Fiona Smith, a professor at the NHS said, “As technology becomes more accessible and more advanced, it's unsurprising that more and more young people are possibly being seriously affected by excessive screen time to the point where it affects their daily lives. The damage of addiction of any kind goes beyond the child or young person, causing suffering to parents, families and friends. ”
Many have welcomed the project, because it focused more on the problems of excessive use of video games, bad mental health and highly irregular lifestyles. The plan has also been met with doubt, with some experts saying that the NHS and taxpayers should not be expected to pick up the pieces of this problem. Gaming companies have a responsibility to their users and should do more to prevent harmful behaviour, instead of promoting it. Online gaming firms make millions of pounds in profit. They should be responsible for the financial cost of treating gaming addiction.
While gaming disorder could be a big problem for a small minority of gamers, there is a fear of concerned parents rushing to the conclusion that their children play i( too much" and that this is harmful for their mental health. So further research and a deeper understanding of these problems are required.
22. What can we learn from paragraph 2?

A. Indifferent. B. Moderate. C. Unfavorable. D. Supportive.

A. NHS. B. The Government.
C. People playing games. D. Online gaming companies.
20. What will be the focus on researchers, next work according to the text?
A. Reasons why people like playing games.
B. Identifying who should get help from NHS.

An egg in a much bigger bottle isn't very interesting, but the.science behind how a little bigger egg got into a bottle is and seems impossible. This experiment shows the effects of air pressure and partial vacuums (部分真空状态).
To create the vacuum, simply drop a burning piece of paper into the glass bottle, which will heat up the air in the bottle causing some air molecules (分子)to move out. Then the egg is put into the neck of the bottle and then the fire will go out due to a lack of oxygen, Once the air cools down again in the bottle, the outside air is at a higher pressure compared to the pressure inside the bottle. The inside air molecules will bunch up, because they no longer have enough energy to stay as far apart and this causes a partial vacuum.
The steps of the experiment are as follows. Remove the shell off of the boiled egg. Then put water around the neck of the bottle and also wet the egg. This will allow the egg to slide into the bottle easily and the water will help to create a seal (密封状态)around the neck of the bottle so that air cannot flow into the bottle, allowing the partial vacuum to be created. Now light a piece of paper and put the burning paper into the bottle. Then place the egg in the neck of the bottle and wait for it to get pushed into the bottle.
Now that you have an egg in a bottle you're probably wondering how to get the egg out of the bottle. It is also possible using the same principles. Only this time you have to raise the pressure inside the bottle. This can be done by blowing into the bottle while the egg is sitting in the opening of the bottle. Then when you stop blowing, the egg will fall into place covering the opening of the bottle and the high pressure in the bottle forces the egg out of the bottle.
21. What is a must to ensure the success of the experiment?
A. A boiled egg with a very hard shell.
B. A piece of paper with nothing on it.
C. A bottle whose neck is just smaller than the egg.
D. A big basin of water that is hot and clean enough.
22. Why has a piece of paper to be burned in the bottle?
A. To make the bottle become bigger.
B.

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Do what you love and love what you do, and success will come? Well, we wish. 36 It takes more than just passion to succeed in anything.
• Passion is just emotion; care is an action.
Wishing hard and wanting something really badly won't give you anything. Passion is a “barely controllable emotion,,, and emotion is not always reliable. 37
In today's world where people always talk about finding your passion, it still seems vague (模糊的)to many. On the other hand, if you're asked to find something you care about, it's easier for you to take action.
. 38
There's a lot of work to do besides being enthusiastic, For example, you can be enthusiastic about painting, but if you don't have any art sense and painting skills, you can hardly become an expert in painting. 39 The belief that you'll do it well anyway as long as you like it is just an illusion (幻觉).
• Learn not just what you care about, but what's around that too.
When you've got your focus, try to map out the skills you need to get better at that. When you have the learning plan ready, apply that course you need, get yourself the tools required and start learning and practicing.
• Success is a way to go, but you can start right now.
40 But if you've already got your passion, it will be good enough to make that your foundation and motivation to keep moving. Start mapping out the skills you need and take actions. Instead of passively letting your passion wander around, be active and do something that will push you forward.
A. Care is different, it implies actions.
B. “Like it” doesn't mean “Good at it”.
C. Passion alone doesn't guarantee success.
D. However, reality is not as simple as we want it to be.
